Phil P.It's every homeowner's nightmare: the water heater decided to crap out in the middle of winter. Great. I instantly took to Yelp and found Excel. They responded to my inquiry within a matter of minutes, and about an hour later, arrived at my place to take a look.
The guy that came was extremely professional and knowledgeable. Being in Sales myself, I can instantly spot a hard-sell. This was not the case at all. He gave me a few options, with pricing, and advised me of what my best options may be. Once we agreed on the course of action, he worked to get both of my existing water heaters removed, and a new 75-gallon installed, the SAME DAY!
The installers that came later that day did a great job of keeping everything clean and tidy. I couldn't have been happier.
Have used Excel several times in the last year, in each instance I have been Very happy with the results. The complete Staff from initial phone call (usually at inopportune moments) throughout end of project/repair have been Outstanding. Professional and immediate quality results, friendly Service and exceptional work. Honest quotes and friendly reliable work.
Highly recommend to both Homeowners, Renters and Businesses alike. Very impressive company that has that ""it"" factor of wanting to help you in often stressful situations without taking advantage of you financially.
I have used their Service on normal days during business hours and in late night early morning ""Emergency"" situations even on Holiday weekends. Have Never felt like I was price gouged and have Always been treated Respectfully and Professionally.
Any situation Plumbing related they are OUTSTANDING!!! Huge Fan of their company.
Do yourself a favor and utilize their services.
Tom C.Our tank water heater had to be replaced, and we called Excel after reading all the positive reviews for a quote on a new one. We were interested in a tankless water heater and they came out and explained the pros/cons very well, and offered a really great price to install one. Once we decided to move forward, they were able to come out quickly to install the new Navien tankless water heater and went over how to operate and maintain it. Although there was one miscommunicated feature of the agreed upon quote, they were eager to resolve it and did so professionally and quickly. Literally everyone we spoke to from installers, to customer service, to management were all extremely nice and helpful. We will definitely be using Excel for all our major plumbing needs going forward.
Kate B.I can't say enough good things about these folks. They were very communicative and beyond fair. I requested some Yelp quotes for a leaking sink and they responded the fastest with the most useful information. I told them I had houseguests coming the next day and they worked really hard and rearranged their plumber assignments to be conducive to that timetable. The plumber who came out was kind and professional. He gave me a lot of information about my pipes that was extremely useful so I could do some of my own research. He was patient while I checked out a few things and ultimately we decided to wait til summer to do the bulk of the work that needs to be done. He patched me up til then and made me feel no pressure to commit to them for the bigger project... Which means I'M DEFINITELY using them this summer when I need to replace pipes.
Grateful through and through.
I had our clean-out in the front yard rodded because we had backup in the basement. The plumber told us that the pipe was sheared at the foundation. He also said that they'd have to dig up the yard a bit to get to the pipe, and that the pipe might be under our front stairs/stoop leading up to the door. He wanted us to sign a waiver in case they ruined the stoop. I wanted a second opinion, someone with a camera as our plumber was old school and didn't use one. I ended up going with Excel Plumbing, Heating & Cooling, they came in at the most reasonable price-wise. They sent Ronnie out this morning with the camera and detector. Ronnie was professional and very helpful. He sent the video he took to my i-phone and explained everything to me while he was doing it as I watched the vid. It turns out we don't have a sheared pipe, we don't need our yard dug up, and at worst we just need a jetting / power blast (there is a lot of build-up). Great news. Thanks!
Background: Our storm drain was overflowing when family stayed over and I believed we needed to rod our line for maintenance or a major repair if needed. We've had issues with slow draining in the past and cleaning out the sewer line was ""maintenance"" for the line until replacement was needed. With the history of our house, we knew we were ""buying time"" before a major repair.
A plumber came out and I explained the whole history and situation with the sewer line and what we done in the past with success, but he insisted to follow what he thought needed to be done. Which was removing the toilet and rod at a higher cost than the easy access clean out. We have an easy access clean out, but he insisted on removing the toilet. OK-ill let the pro do his job, even for a higher cost. He did clean out some baby wipes and TP and the sewer worked for about an Hour, but still backing up. I asked if he went further or ""really cleaned it out"" and he said he got the block. I felt ok that the job was done while cleaning his work area that was left messy and dirty.
Nope...When i called the company back they said he was another job and would finish when he was done. he came back around 7pm to tell me he couldn't finish it that night and had to work on it tomorrow, but will bring a camera. Next day-More sewer rodding and no camera and no luck on a flowing sewer. Third day was an estimate on removing a catch basin and putting a clean out in the front yard. They quoted over $11k for the job that others were half the price. When asked about the high cost, they mentioned that all the utility lines are close together and it takes time.
Im not a professional plumber, but feel that they were trying to take advantage of the situation. i went with a local company that did the work for 1/3rd the price and added a backwater valve. Also-the utility lines were not that close together and they did not have any issues.
**** Please be cautious with Excel or get other opinions and bids.****
Carol R.Had to replace our toilet. Excel did the job and quickly. They also made recommendations on the kind of toilet we bought. They are very nice people that I wouldn't hesitate to call again. I highly recommend them.
Jeff Y.Fantastic! Called excel to get an estimate for replacing a couple outdoor faucets with anti-freeze ones, and they were able to come a couple days later on a Saturday at my request. Then, fortunately for the timing, but unfortunately, my garbage disposal started leaking and found out just before the appointment. Called them up, and they were able to replace it quickly on the spot at the time of the estimate I had.
Excel was quick to respond on Yelp and their prices were on par with most other companies I asked. I'll update my review after they replace my two outdoor faucets in a couple days, but so far they've been fantastic, and I'd highly recommend them!
Tian F.We want to have some updates on the showerhead and bathtub showerhead but have no idea how to do it, so we schedule a price estimate with Excel Plumbing.
Obrian came and evaluated the work. We're impressed by his professional advice, patience and kind consideration. Although we decided to do it by ourselves given the evaluation, we will definitely consider Excel Plumbing next time we need service.
Thank you!
Issue/ Reason For Visit: Apparent storm underground drainage issue, likely blocked or broken underground pipe
Day one:
$250 for video camera analysis of underground pipe
Learned a lot about where the under ground drains are, what they look like, etc. then we found what looked like a mud blockage, down near the front of the yard (near street)
he shares the news about the blockage and says that a hydro jet would blast through the obstruction, a zero risk solution. He also said he recorded the whole video session and would send me the copy. Everything made sense.
I was excited to get the issue resolved and was then quoted another $750 for the hydro test (so now up to $1000). Fine, I accepted, since it will resolve the issue.
Never got the video sent to me.... I'm still hoping to get it at some point...
Day Two:
A different guy comes for the ""hydro jet"" test.......
But the hose that he was putting in the ground (thru the same opening that the camera was used) was getting stuck, or wouldn't make a turn in the pipes (in spite of the fact that the camera had no issues getting all the way (85') to the street (or technically- the mud block right before). They tried going through a different hole and another, but had no success getting it to head towards the blockage. Looks like it just couldn't make the through an existing elbow.
Finally, it was decided that it's of no hope on a Friday afternoon and I'm probably gonna have to tear the yard up to fix the problem.
Before the guy leaves, he says that I'm still on the hook for the entire price of $1000, but 1) they will offer a discount of $250 (taking it down to $750 total), and I should be paying more, because it's technically another $375 every time they 'stick it in a new hole'. The 'sticking it in different holes' thing, by the way, took about 10 minutes or so each time (so that $375 thing, eh).
I'm not comfortable with this, as I feel that they shouldn't have recommended the hydro if they thought it couldn't be done. or at least, they should have warned me about the risk of It not working. I mean, how am I supposed to know whether or not their hydro hose would fit or turn inside of the pipes? Why didn't the guy from Day One recognize a potential Hydro Jet issue? They did the video inspection, they recommended the service (which I hadn't even heard of until that point) and their hydro 'head' (and garden hose with a head) wouldn't fit.
But here I am, in good faith and paid in with a $500 deposit already, on the phone with them to explain the unfairness. I managed to take a picture of the truck, which clearly says 'our work is guaranteed'. Waited for a call back from their manager, but he never called me back....
I still didn't get that video, either, so now I'm out $500 with nothing to show for it......
Unfortunately, I'll now be looking for a new plumber to work with.
