I had an immediate need for a licensed plumber. I called these guys based on their 5 star google reviews. Thomas Johnson was dispatched within an hour of me stating my need for expedited service. After a quick evaluation of the plumbing problem, Thomas was prepared and ready with a run-down of how to fix my issue. We agreed on a price and the service was completed. Very satisfied with my experience with this company.

Inspection and test of house drain lines to sewer. They used a camera to look into the drain line at the master toilet and then used a test ball to see

if the drain line leaked at the master toilet.

I called early on the morning of July 1. As my rating suggests, they were prompt and came out that same morning. After having the foundation repaired,

a leak was suspected at the master toilet. They did a visual camera inspection for 99$ with the Angies list coupon but didn't find anything.

So, we proceeded with the pressure test ($299). A test ball was inserted down the drain line (the toilet had been removed) just past the 90 degree

elbow. The tech ran the test...the receipt, which I still have says, "Static test revealed leak on toilet 90 degree and flange". "Cost to chip up

concrete, run new line, 90 degree, install riser 4" for flange (does not include pouring concrete for patch)...$4,000.

Having rehabbed many houses in the past, I knew immediately that this quote was ridiculous. I called excalibur in the first place since they had good

reviews and my regular plumber was booked up.

Since the price was so high, I had my regular plumber do the work the next day...price to chip up concrete was $150 and then another $400 to replace the

drain elbow and line (instead of the $4000 Excalibur quoted). Once the drain elbow and line had been removed, the plumber decided to test for a leak.

Amazingly, there was no leak at all. The drain test held for more than 24 hours. I still have the removed part as evidence. Strike 1 for Excalibur.

In hindsight, we should have done this first, but who would have thought Excalibur wouldn't be able to perform a simple test properly. Strike 2 against

Excalibur. After the new drain piece was installed, a final pressure test ($200) was done on the whole house and everything passed without any issues.

So, as a result of Excalibur's inability to perform a simple test, I am out an extra $650 in service cost, an additional $50 in parts, and 3 days of

time wasted on top of the $400 I have already paid to Excalibur when there was no problem to begin with.

Obviously, I called Excalibur and explained that their tech screwed up, that I had the removed part (if they wanted to test it), that I was willing to

provide the test results from my master plumber, and that I wanted my money back for the $300 test (NOT the camera inspection...I was happy to pay

that.) and $700 compensation for the money I spent to fix a problem that didn't exist.

Excalibur refused. They didn't want the test results, didn't want to test the part and only offered $200 in compensation. I thought about it for a few

days. Called them back to see if they would reconsider...the owner wouldn't talk to me, just one of his employees. Again, they refused, and I was told

that the owner would not pay more than the $200. Strike 3.

I ended up accepting the $200, and moved on with my project.

So, I cannot recommend anyone use Excalibur. It is obvious to me that they are incompetent and unethical. I say unethical, because of the $4000 fee

they quoted. I am experienced at rehabbing houses. Other people may not be as experienced and could be duped into paying thousands of dollars in

repairs that not only don't exist but could be done for 80-90% less.

I will certainly never use this company again.

Just got a water heater from them. Communication was prompt, rates were good and the installers did a great job!

Thomas came out yesterday to install a water softener, expansion tank, and replace the cartridge on the shower valve. He was so polite and professional. He explained everything that needed to be done, then showed me the estimate. I was given the option of being a "member" which discounted the amount by 15% and also included a hot water heater flush once a year (free). There was a slight hiccup with the water softener--but not his fault--where water was still in the line after shutting off the water. This caused water to spout into the garage. He ran, got his shop vac, and made sure everything was dry. He reassured me it was just leftover water in the line that came out. Last night I realized I didn't have hot water, and called Excalibur Plumbing this morning, and Thomas came right out. He was extremely polite, and it was a simple fix--the valve wasn't returned to the open position. He had replaced the insulation with better insulation, and it ended up getting shut off during that. Anyhow, I thought the people there were professional, polite, and quick to return if there is an issue. The only reason I deducted one star is because they ARE a bit pricey. But so long as they provide the service they did, and continue to stand by their work (labor and parts), I would continue to use and recommend them.

Quoted us $850 for reconnecting faucet lines under the sink. Took me 15 mins, and $40 at home depot to complete the job. They have no clue about pricing. I don't understand why they would need $850 for a job so simple?

My tenants hot water heater went out.

Excalibur was rated well on yelp and Angie's list. I called 3 companies and Excalibur called me back 1st and as it turned out were able to come out the quickest, which was the next day.

The tech was professional and on time. They gave me a quote on the spot and did not charge a trip fee.

The bid was $1200 even which was on the high end of fair. I got another bid for $1100, lowes was about $1200 also, and ultimately I called in a favor and got it done with someone else for $935.

I own several properties and have a bad run of luck with hot water heaters in the last two weeks so I've spoken to or met with 7 plumbers in that time. Excalibur is tied for 1st place on professionalism.

I had a leak in the wall from a drywall screw. I had already removed the drywall to to expose the 1/2 inch cold water line. All that was needed was to cut the pipe and solder a splice in the line to fix the leak.

Called Excalibur from an Angies list ad recommending them. They said it would be a $50.00 charge to come out and give an estimate. I was very explicit on the phone about the repair needed. They repeated they would give me a written estimate upon inspection.

The plumber arrived about two hours later as promised. Showed him the repair needed. He then gives me an estimate of $425.00 for the repair including the $50.00 estimate charge. The $425.00 charge was based on their predetermined list of charges in four tiers. Very confusing and complicated. Then he tells me if I sign on as a member, I can get a better deal/price and I could get my water heater cleaned. The new price including the "membership" was just under $400.00!!!!!

Because it was at 5 in the afternoon and I needed the water back on as soon as possible, I agreed to the repair with the "membership".

Because of the simplicity of the repair, the repair was finished in 38 minutes from the time the plumber walked in the front door. With the water heater flush, it was all done in exactly an hour. That is $350.00 dollars excluding the estimate charge. You can figure out the hourly rate on that one. Far in excess of an reasonable hourly rate for any plumber I know.

This company preys on the customer's predicament. I would recommend you call anyone but this company

They get 2 stars because the my hot water heater was installed and it works fine.

The problems started after the install. The install was done in January 2013. The city was supposed to inspect the install shortly after. In June, I realized the city had never come. I called Excalibur and got Chance, who at first could not find evidence we'd ever used them for a job. He even asked me "When you paid the plumber, did you pay him personally or write the check to us?" Clearly, they've had some problems with plumbers ripping them off by taking direct payments from customers. Hints towards possible poor hiring practices? You decide.

Chance eventually found our invoice in his "call for inspection" folder. His manner implied it was an imposition for him to set up the call to the city.

City came out, failed the install (red tagged it) for an improper drain line material. Turns out they didn't check if we were Austin or Pflugerville, and installed according to Pf. codes.

In August, I called Chance back and asked when they were coming to fix the red tag. After some groaning, he set up an appointment.

Appointment day! Knock on the door. Open the door - plumber is just standing there, staring - no hello, no "I'm so and so from Excalibur" nothing. We'll call him Dick. Dick says, "You have a red tag. So, what's wrong with it?" I love how I'm supposed to know what's wrong with the install. I'm not about to begin to tell the professional his business. Dick stomps up into the attic, fixes it quickly and removes his grumpy self from my property.

It's September now and last week I had to call Chance again to get him to schedule the new inspection. So glad I'm helping him keep up with his paperwork! Again, he was aggrieved at having to do his job. The guy is less personable than a wet rag. Thankfully, the city just passed the install so I will NEVER have to call Excalibur again, and neither should you.

Purchased a deal on Angie's List for a water heater flush and whole house plumbing inspecting. Tech was great and did his job. He called about 30 minutes before stopping by. No sales pitch which was refreshing. No problems which was even more refreshing!
