Cleo D.This company charges outrageous prices. Shop around-- there are good guys who do not charge $70 for an estimate. Estimates should be free. Evergreen estimated well over 6k for bathroom remodel and fixing one pipe. They also thought the job would take several days, which is ridiculous. There's no way moving a few pipes in the bathroom with an exposed basement would take longer than a day, as verified by several other plumbers. In the end, we found a reputable plumber to do the work for less than $100 per hour...saving us thousands. Save yourself lots of cash and get multiple quotes-- from folks who don't charge unethical estimate fees!
I called Evergreen plumbing because my Hot water tank stop working one night. My wife really wanted it repaired that night if possible. Jacob arrived quickly on an emergency call. The service call was $200.00 which is excessive in my opinion but I was willing to pay it to get back to normal.
He attempted to light the tank one time and said it needed replaced. Ok, he quoted me over $2000.00 to replaced the tank right then and that's when I knew this was a company looking to gouge his customers, I decided to ask how much it would cost for a Tankless Hot water tank installation. He quoted me me $5800.00. These are extremely high prices even by plumber standards. I said no thank you and paid my $200.00 for my 5 minute session and sent him on his way.
After he left my wife and I drove down to home depot, purchased a new Gas water heater, $629.00 for a premium plus Rheem. drained and disconnected the old tank and reconnected the new tank and it took us under 2 hours. I am not expert and I would rather had paid someone to complete this work but when I see this type of business practice I don't play. Any company that's not willing to quote you and hourly rate for services should raise a red flag.
The pro's- the company was receptive and came out after 5 pm.
Con's - everything thing else about my experience.
Richard W.Showed up on time and showed us that one of the problems wasn't a plumbing issue. Appreciated the honesty. Will have them back out when we need major work done.
My experience with this company was not good. Tenant found and contacted them due to good reviews after discovering a clogged drainage line. They called me at 2:30pm to ask for permission to enter property and conduct repairs. I called them back at 2:45pm and gave them permission as well as my contact info. Hours passed and I heard nothing, so I assumed that the issue was being taken care of. 6pm, my tenant calls and says that they've been accusing me of ""not answering my phone"" and that they've been ""trying to get a hold of me for hours."" Not true. Fortunately I have a good relationship with the tenant founded on trustworthy behavior. I triple checked my phone logs and messages to be sure. They called me shortly thereafter and made the same accusation to me directly and said, as a result of my ""non-responsiveness"" that they would need to charge an additional $200 after-hours fee. I asked if they used an answering service. They said yes. I said, they'd better look into changing that up, because it clearly isn't serving their needs if my clear permission and contact information never got back to them. Regardless, it was ridiculous to pay for something that was a problem on THEIR end, with THEIR company and communications, not with us. The poor kid on the other end trapped between us (we were pretty upset at this point) and an inflexible, detached supervisor, said, ""Sorry, that's our policy."" So I terminated the relationship and went with someone who had better customer service. Mind you, this all happened over what was an attempt for us to have a nice family dinner, which I had just finished cooking and was sitting down to eat when I was bombarded by them trying to argue their way into my home AND charge me extra for it. Thanks for ruining our dinner on top of it all, Evergreen!
So, in summation,
1. horrible communication,
2. a faulty answering service
3. an accusatory stance toward their (prospective) customers, and to take the cake
4. An expectation that the customer foot the bill for issues that were THEIR fault.
5. Ruined dinner (which wouldn't have happened if 1-4 above weren't an issue)
Not a confidence builder, and not something I want to mess with. We got much better customer service going with competitor. They are all pretty much technically competent, why go with someone who will swamp you with poor customer service when things go awry?
Other people may have had positive experiences. That's great. It's also easy to have a positive experience when everything goes according to plan. It's when the plan goes awry that you start to see the true colors shine through. And they were pretty ugly here. If it was a problem with their answering service, I really hope, for their sake, they get that addressed, because they will lose business over it. And hopefully they learn the value of customer service.
Daniel T.I have now used Evergreen Plumbing for both my personal residence and business multiple times. On the business side I have always been able to get somebody out quickly and have them resolve the issue (clogged drains) and they warranty their work. Most recently they came out to one of our restaurants after hours, fixed the issue quickly and did it all for a great price. I'll be using them exclusively going forward.
Evergreen was amazing, especially during this crazy health crisis. They fixed a gas line valve so that I could replace my stove with a new one (my old one broke and I need to feed my 3 kids!!). They were quick and responsive, followed health and safety protocols, and got the job done. Thank you so much!
The sewer of our 80 years old house was beginning to fail and we needed someone to put in a new sewer right away. I called 4 different companies for an estimate. Darin from Evergreen Plumbing and Mechanical was the only person to come up with a solution that would not involve cutting down trees, digging up four driveways, and closing the street. Our old sewer went through two neighbors' yards. Darin contacted the neighbors to get their approval to do the sewer work in their yards so we could use the existing trench line. With the neighbors Ok, Darin worked with the city to get approval, also. He and his crew came out the next week, dug up the old sewer and replaced in within a couple of days. Not only did Darin replace the sewer, he and his crew installed a pump in the basement so the bathroom down there was usable. Everything was done expertly and on time. Evergreen did an excellent job cleaning up, too.
Tasha H.I called Evergreen a couple of months ago because of a corroded, leaky pipe in the basement. Peter came by, gave me an estimate that seemed reasonable, and did the work quickly and efficiently. This was no small feat given the weird crawl spaces in my basement, that he had to crawl into in order to replace some pipes. Somehow he was amazingly cheerful about this! Of course, given my 1890 house, fixing that pipe uncovered a clog further along in the pipes that was stopping up my sink. So today James and Mason came out, cleaned it all out, showed me what the pipes look like on their very cool camera device, and now everything works like a charm. I thought the prices were very reasonable, and the estimates accurately reflected the final cost.
All along, everyone I dealt with was great, from Marcus on the phone setting up the appointments, to Peter/James/Mason doing the work at the house. They were friendly, professional, explained everything, left everything neat and took care of the small details, and were very nice to and amused by my dog, who was doing his best to ""help"" their efforts. Haha, ""help."" Overall, this is now my only go-to place for plumbing/drainage problems - which are likely to be a recurring thing given the age of my house. I forget which other maintenance person recommended them, but I'm glad they did. I've had leaking pipes in the past where the leak was so bad that the water had to be shut entirely off, and the companies I dealt with then could never tell me anything more than ""well, we're really busy, we MIGHT be able to get out there next week"" etc. It was always nerve-wracking, calling different places to see which ones could come out first. I can't imagine that being an issue with Evergreen, given how prompt they've always been.
Kerry P.Last night I called Evergreen to schedule an appointment to fix my clogged kitchen sink drain. Not only was the sink clogged, it backed up into the washer overflow flooding the laundry room...ugh. In spite of this, I said that my need wasn't an emergency, so the next day would be fine. Someone called me first thing today to schedule the visit. Would between 10:30 and 11:30 work? Well yes indeed it would. I was then told that the plumber would be James (aka Jamie).
Jamie called a few minutes before his scheduled time just to say that he was on his way.
Jamie diagnosed the issue quickly, and set to work. He explained what he was doing every step of the way and finished in just under an hour. Very reasonable and a heck of a nice guy!
Jamie then let me know that the pipes were old, showed me where they had improperly installed and left a comprehensive bid to replace them.
I couldn't be happier with Evergreen-everyone was courteous and helpful! Thank you!
RedLeaf W.I just called to see if this plumber could be a vendor for me and my portfolio of properties. Their outgoing message said to press a number if I was a new client, so I did. I was about to hang up after 7 or 8 rings when the call was answered. The person who answered asked me if I was an existing client. When I said no, she tersely stated ""I need to keep this line open for current clients"" and hung up on me. Very poor response and now I will tell the world how bad my experience. Thanks for nothing.
