Buyer beware!!! I am not sure how this company stays in business. They came to repair our air conditioner, did not fix it properly (it still had same issue when they left) and now they don't want to refund my money. They said I signed their contract that their repair may not work. They are a fraud! Do not use them.

For two weeks I've tried to get our A/C repaired or replaced with Estes and it will be three weeks before it is complete. It's as if they don't want your business or are here to give you the run around. I really don't understand it. We have their service agreement that is suppose to give you preferential treatment if you have a heating or air problem. Anytime we call we sit on hold so long we finally have to leave a voicemail which is not returned. We also tried their online contact form with no avail. It took two days just to get a hold of someone. When we finally did get through I told them I needed to schedule service for a repair or replacement of our A/C which had stopped running. Ialso let them know we had the service agreement and a newborn at home. They then told me they needed to know which service it would be either a repair or a replace because those are handled seperately. I said I didn't know just that my A/C didn't work. They said okay and five days later someone came out. They told me my A/C needed to be replaced and that someone else would have to come out for that. This wouldn't be for another five days. Then after that seven days before the install. Needless to say after this repair we are switching to another company. It shouldn't take from June 16th to July 1st for an A/C company to do their service

DON'T USE ESTES!! I have 2 older units in my house and so bought a maintenance contract for around $200. Their only purpose to selling that contract (besides getting the $200) is to gain access to your house / equipment twice per year and UPSELL YOU! Every time they step foot in my house they come up with $2-500 worth of supposed repairs or maintenance items that I """"need"""". They charge $230 for $25 parts (after finding out they did that to me once, the next time I was able to buy the part online and install it myself for $27, and I know nothing about AC or heating units). They came out a couple of days ago to do the spring check-up and again attempted to upsell me on a capacitor and Freon to the tune of $3-400. Also pushing hard on 2 new units. After telling him that since the units are working great right now and I have other budgetary constraints (and toying with selling the house), I'd have to get back with them about doing anything to the units. After continued pushing, and my continued refusal, he finally went outside to """"finish"""". Now mind you, both units were working PERFECTLY until he touched them! He leaves, and all Saturday afternoon / evening the downstairs unit was not cooling properly. I thought it was all in my head, you know, after all the talk of it needing some things done to it. But the thermostat doesn't lie. The unit ran all day Sunday but the temp kept going up. Finally at 4:00 p.m. I just turned the unit off, it was 82 in the downstairs (thermostat set at 75). Since cold air falls and heat rises, the upstairs unit, while cooling, was working extra hard and running longer. Tech's supervisor calls me this morning and, while apologetic and made accommodation to have different tech come out tonight at 6:00, he still said """"well, if it's low and needs Freon, there will be a charge for the Freon"""". Also making remark, when I reiterated it's been working perfectly, that it's been """"mild"""" lately, up until this weekend. I drove home the point that it was working perfectly UP UNTIL THE MINUTE I WOULDN'T PAY HIM FOR THE UPSELL. It was set at 74 and the house was 74. But as soon as he left the temp started rising, unlike any days prior since turning the AC on weeks ago. I don't have a lot of confidence that they are going to make this right at no charge. I paid a bit more for service calls and contract because they were supposed to be a reputable company. They are as big a crooks as the """"no one ever heard of"""" companies! UPDATE: new tech comes out and says """"yup, the freon is low"""". I ask him how the unit could be working perfectly until the tech touched it, and he says . . . get this . . . .IT MAY BE BECAUSE THE OTHER TECH CLEANED THE UNIT!!! WHAT??!!! STAY AWAY FROM THIS SUPPOSEDLY REPUTABLE COMPANY!!!

I was complaining more about 1) delay in sending the quote, and the quote not including the refund until after I reminded the estimator guy who had to clear it with someone (the respondent?). The reason was """"it was ready, just forgot to send it out"""". But I think he made a decision that since I wanted another quote, he was going to assume he lost the sale. 2) the tech guy who first came out seemed more interested in referring me to get a new unit and maybe that was a misunderstanding; 3) pressure from the quote guy """"gotta act before the 27th"""" (at least that is what I recall at this time. Maybe he said 24th); 4) after years, there have been two teams from ESTES I really liked, the guys who did the vent for my down-draft stove/oven and the two guys who first diagnosed the problem last year. The guy who replaced the motor last year was not one of the guys who quoted me. He knew nothing about an ordered motor to match the unit, and got something off the truck. I had agreed with the previous two on the price of the """"order one to match the system and not one off the truck"""". This guy seemed a bit intimidating and insisted this was the price, period. I mentioned it at the time to your service people. No one called me back. I'm too busy to chase down your problems. You have the records, you know who these individuals are. 5) The guy who came to diagnose insisted on the $59 dollars before leaving """"I can't bill you. I have no choice."""" He was the same guy who installed the motor last year. I have upped it to two stars because of the memories of the two teams I liked and that the final guy who came out to actually replace the motor. That last guy was very professional, no nonsense and got the job done well and quickly. He reminds me of the guys who I really trusted in the last town I lived in... so relaxed and confident that there was no need to be intimidating nor over-sell things; just state what you can do, for how much, and then let the customer figure it out. It is the company's over-all approach or size that I think might be the problem. I realize there are two sides to each story, and you can look at your records and what you did. Did you record the call where I protested last year about the price vs. which motor I got? I will try to keep an eye on this review but most likely will let ESTES have the last word. As indicated by their reviews, they are overall very well liked, and maybe I am the one or two """"bad experience""""

They were quick to respond and AC technician was professional except for the fact that he way overcharged. What ended up being wrong is that my thermostat had died. He said he overrode the system and that is how he knew it was bad. But he inidcated that there was probably something else wrong that caused the thermostat to go bad and he could not check the rest of the system without installing a new thermostat. I asked how come he could not check the system using the override he did to find out the thermostat was bad and he said he was not allowed to. Thermostats are cheap and easy to install but he had me in a hard spot and he charged $299 to install a $65 thermostat. They completely took advantage of the situation. If pricing was fair, I would have been happy but this was outrageous so that is why I am posting this information. I would not trust their pricing.

After contacting GB services and being told I would have to wait until next week to have my ac fixed, I contacted Estes not the recommendation of a co-worker (first thought their web site, got no response) when I did call them they said someone could come out the next day and gave me the 12-5 window (wish I had called sooner!) The technician called me before noon and was there within 10 minutes. He was very friendly and knowledgeable. The lack of five stars comes from there being no quote for the prices before he fixed the unit and I signed up for the service agreement so it was not a cheap day, but I felt confident they knew what they were doing. He did try to upsell me a little with the chance I might need a new unit in a few years, but I feel all types of ac people and mechanics seems to be like this (I will be doing my own research on the R22.) I have had some horrible experiences with people fixing my ac, so I feel like this was definitely one of the better companies.

Great service!! My time window was from 12-5 (a bit of a large gap) and I was concerned I was going to be late for work. My tech called me at 1230 and was at my house by 1. He was VERY respectful and fast. He figured out what was wrong with my A/C within 5 minutes!! Never was I pressured to buy a new a new unit (which was 1 of my fears), and he told me how much repairs would cost before he fixed it. Repairs only took 45min! I initially tried to go the cheaper route with someone on Craigslist, but that person never even showed up to the appointment, nor did he call. ESTES was like a superhero as it gets hot very early in Atlanta! I would recommend to friends and family!

I called Estes to get a quote regarding our split level house and the cooling problems we have upstairs. The technician arrived right on time. He was very polite and thorough. Brought photos of some issues in my crawl space. Issues that needed to be fixed ASAP. One of the pipes was cracked, it was a pipe that contains carbon monoxide, so needless to say needed to be fixed fast! He reviewed his recommendation. He said that everything needed to be replaced if they were going to do the work. They were going to do it right if they were going to do it. """"They were not hurting for jobs"""". You see our unit is 25 years old but because of yearly maintenance it runs great! The problem is the house was built without central air. Once he said they would not zone without replacing I told him we were not able to replace it right now. I told him we paid in full for everything and financing was not an option. However I did not say it was out of the question in a month or so...but with Estes it is! It has been a week and no quotes at all. Not for my leak, nor to zone the house. I guess Estes is too busy to worry about my problem...I went with GB services. They came out on Wednesday I had a quote that night, for the CO issue, and they came out to fix it the next day. They considered my CO issue an emergency since I have a newborn in the house as they are more susceptible to CO than a healthy adult. I will not reach out to Estes again.
