We were sort of new to our condo and had to experience using remote help to shut off water as well as power issues. When the fires cleared and the all clear was given everything was turned back on, again remote by someone we asked.

When we managed to finally get out we noticed out pressure pump was running and running and running. We suspected a back flow or something had gone south during the power outage and water on/off. So we manually turned the pump on and off as needed. We also put a call to the plumber.

The gentleman who cam out was very professional and wore a mask. We asked about rough pricing for a new pump. He told us the numbers but said not to rush in to things as he has not checked everything out. We told him what was going on and then left him to do what was needed. He called us back down about 15 minutes later... we were ready for the worst.

He took a moment to show that he could turn on the pump AND it would not run and run! Magic! No, all the bypasses were open and the pump could not generate enough pressure to shut off. He should use the 5 cut off valves and the explained the flow of water according to what was open and what was shut. In other words, it was human error and not mechanical failure.

So while we were ready to sign a check he was not ready to take one. We ended up paying for the hour of the lesson. Awesome running in to a professional that educates a customer instead of taking advantage of them .

I am 100% sure I know who I will call in the future.

Recently, ""Mike"" from Estes Park Plumbers came out to replace our leaking garbage disposal. We were happy we could get someone out the same day, even though we explained this wasn't an emergency.

He completed the install in less than 45 minutes, and everything looks and works great.

However, the invoice simply listed a total of $381. I asked him about breaking out parts and labor and he declined and said basically, ""this is the way we do it"".

I've learned that the retail cost of a Badger 5 Insinkerator ranges in price from $100-200, which means they charged at LEAST $180 for less than an hour of labor.

We are happy with the work done, but really question whether this charge is correct/fair.

I communicated with the business about this, and after going back and forth in email over a period of almost 3 weeks, they finally gave me the same answer I was given the day of the repair, ""The price is from the service book which gives menu pricing for the plumbers to charge on each project"".

My only conclusion is that they refuse to break out the costs for parts, labor, trip charges, or other fees and taxes.

It appears the work was done in a responsive and timely way, the new disposal is working great, but I'm not happy with the answers to my reasonable questions about the charges.

I would strongly recommend getting a quote from this business before having any work started.

I give them two stars: one for being so responsive, and one for getting the work done satisfactorily. Without a better explanation of charges, two stars is all I can rate them.

Update (Oct 2018): I had contacted the Better Business Bureau (complaint #13056132) and learned that the business chose not to acknowledge or respond to my complaint. I would not recommend using this business.

Update #2 (Oct 2018): I searched for this business' licensing with the State of Colorado, and learned that their license shows ""Expired"" as of 2/28/2015 (!).

I would not recommend using this business.

They arrived promptly and spent 1 hour snaking a clogged drain successfully. The reason for two stars is the outrageous amount charged for this service. $294 for an hour of work with no parts involved is unacceptable. Our first yelp review but felt it necessary to warn others.
