Israel of Erwyn's Plumbing did an excellent and efficient job tapping off a gas line and removing an old gas heater in an apartment I manage. He was thorough, reasonablely priced, and a nice person. Although we had some trouble communicating at the beginning (he is hispanic but his English is a bit hard to understand), I was more at ease as I watched him work and realized that my project was in good hands. He is obviously highly experienced, and like all good tradesmen, he's busy (but unlike many, not someone you have to wait a week or more for). I recommend him!

Israel is easily the nicest/best plumber in Berkeley. He is timely, gets the job done, and is trustworthy. I wasn't available to let him into my apartment to unclog the kitchen sink, and left the door open. He went in, took care of business and left the unit with no problems whatsoever. I had taken off the p-trap to try and clean that and the sink was still clogged, Israel put everything back together very professionally at a very reasonable cost!

Definitely would hire again.

Israel responded immediately late Friday afternoon as the water supply to the toilet had a clog. It turned out that somehow the clog was gone (after two days of not working) with only checking out the parts and he charged a very reasonable fee . What I really like was that he also showed me the parts I would need and how to do it myself if that ever became necessary. He's also friendly and thoughtful.

On my way to work I noticed that my cleanout on the sidewalk was overflowing with, gasp, our sewage and all that entails.

Called Erwyn's right away because it said ""serves Berkeley and surrounding areas""-- we live in Berkeley. The person who answered, hispanic, whose name I did not catch, answered, took our address, and was there in 20 minutes as promised, and cleaned out the roots that had gotten into our sewer line.

Not cheap at $160, but then I haven't priced roto-rooter jobs lately.

In any case, excellent service, very prompt.

Erwyn's is open on Saturdays, which really meant a lot to me. I had an emergency situation and wasn't able to reach several other companies. Israel was great. He was able to get here just a few hours after I called, and he diagnosed and repaired a complicated problem quickly.

Unfortunately, I spent $1000 on 2 different fixes Israel tried to address some noisy pipe issue related to a tankless water heater. Neither worked. I don't really think he has expertise to do repairs/maintenance on this type of heater and I wish he had told me that before I was out $1000. He should have known that the heater needed not only to be flushed (which he did) but to also have the burners and regulator cleaned. I finally got Nahman over to do it properly. Nice guy but I am pretty upset at all the $ I wasted.

They came within a few hours and fixed a clogged sink. Prices are reasonable. The guy was here before others even called me back!

Our bathroom sinks had been clogged for days and wouldn't drain. I had pulled off the P-traps and tried to snake the pipes; no luck. I tried Drano and Liquid Plumber; no luck. I swore; felt better, but no luck. I finally called Bay Rooter in the late afternoon and Israel was at my front door at 9 a.m. the next morning. He took a look, explained why my snake couldn't reach the clog from the inside of the house, then took his industrial strength rooter to the roof, pushed the snake down the vent and had the line clear within a few minutes. He made some suggestions on where to install a cleanout to make it easy to do the job myself and charged me a very reasonable price. Polite, professional and helpful -- Israel has my business from now on.
