Years ago, my great-grandfather Difranco arrived from Italy and became a tradesman. My grandfather, Eugene Difranco, was a tradesman in Cleveland, Ohio. In 1986, my father transitioned to California, starting a company in Palm Springs, where I, Dane Feldman, began my journey. When my grandfather passed away, we felt compelled to create a new company as a tribute to him. Now, the Coachella Valley proudly hosts Erkies Electrical Heating and Air. In memory of Eugene Difranco.
I’m Dane, and I’ve been working with tools since I was young. I started working alongside my father in the Coachella Valley in 1994, which is when I began to refine my expertise in electrical, heating, and air conditioning. All these years later, I’m still dedicated to serving the community I cherish and continuing our family tradition.

I cannot begin to thank Kyle Lavy for the workmanship, professionalism and courtesy he provided me as he helped to diagnose the problem with my AC system this past week. Another company added 5 pounds of freon on 8/29, only to have the freon gone by 8/31. That same company came back to test for a leak on 8/31 and came to the quick conclusion that I had a coil leak in the unit itself. Was advised the cost to replace a 5 year old unit would exceed $6,000! Something didn't seem right about the diagnosis and thus called Erkies (recommended by Rheem) to come out to check on my system.
Kyle Lavy arrived shortly after my call on 8/31 and performed a thorough diagnostic test of the system, uncovering the problem very quickly. I did not need an entire new system... no issues with the coils in the unit... I had a leak in the reversing valve, which was under warranty and could be replaced. The other company that wanted to replace my entire unit never performed such test and wanted to only up sell me a new unit, even though it wasn't necessary. I will name the company, only because I don't want anyone else to be scammed. The company is Hyde's AC. I would never use them again. It's refreshing to work with such honest people at Erkies!
Kyle showed me the leak, explained the process of what replacing the valve and what's involved and gave me the satisfaction that it would be done correctly. The part was quickly ordered and the office staff (Katie) was most kind and communicative during this entire process. The part was received two days later and the repairs completed in a few hours on 9/3/20.
Again, I was most pleased with the work done by Kyle, his apprentice and everyone at Erkies. You clearly know what customer service is all about and I can't thank you enough. As a business person myself, I know how important it is to work with honest people that want to do the right thing for their customers and you and the team exemplify that at Erkies.

I had an A/C go out in one of my rentals at 4:30 PM on a Friday. They agreed to come out that evening. All it needed was cleaning the coil, which they accomplished in less than 20 min. The charge for 2 men, $383. After I complained about the high cost, they waived the service fee of $89 which would have brought the bill to $472. They do not charge by the hour but by the job. Not a happy customer.
We had Erkies conduct regular seasonal maintenance on our air conditioning system at our vacation rental in Palm Springs. From end to end, the service is professional and friendly. Scheduling was very easy and friendly. A nice text message reminder when the technician was on his way. Kyle was our technician and it was apparent that he genuinely cared because he took the time to listen to my questions. During his visit I asked out of curiosity why the speed of the airflow was on super high all the time and thus fairly loud. Kyle immediately suggested that it seemed odd because he knew that the system was a variable speed air handler. So while the purpose of his visit was AC maintenance, he made time to take off panels on the furnace (air handler) and investigate my question. Kyle figured out that the original installer (""The General"") incorrectly configured the system for a single stage/speed five years ago. Grrrr! Kyle showed me how the settings were done incorrectly and fixed it on the spot at no extra charge. Immediately we noticed that the air noise was quiet throughout the house and are thrilled to see the computer automatically adjusting the speed as needed. It feels like a whole new system! On top of it, we learned that we'll be saving money because the system is now operating properly and at peak efficiency. We likely would have never had known this was improperly configured had it not been for Kyle and the Erkies team. Thank you Kyle! We are customers for life.

Ken C.Dane it's absolutely amazing! We have had issues with are thermostat controlling our furnace and air conditioner for six weeks. Had other company's come out like Comfort air and Anthem. Both of those companies kicked us to the curve and felt us in the cold for winter because of where are furnace was located.
First one of Danes associates Antonio came out from Erkies and went right to it! He had to remove a temporary ceiling for access which consisted of 5 screws. Yes! You heard that right 5 screws to take panels down to access the furnace which is very old. He wasn't able to resolve the issue himself so he called Dane for back up. Dane came later and tackled the issue and aligned all the right connections so our thermostat communicated properly. It wasn't 5 minutes because of the age of the furnace with different color codes. That being said both Antonio and Dane with extreme patiences cracked the code and got everything working along with diagnostics.
All I can say is my only regret is that I didn't find these guys sooner and every time I see a commercial on tv advertising that comfort air is the best in the valley I can't help put chuckle when they turned their backs to us and left us in the cold.

Roy S.Circuit Breaker failed and darkened half my home. There was a rain storm and it was hard to find someone to come out right away after dinner. Erkies saved the day. Their services were quick and efficient at a reasonable cost. I would highly recommend ERKIES for any and all electrical, plumbing and air conditioning services or maintenance.
I would give ten stars if I could! Dane from Erkies came to our rescue when it seemed no one else could. We called them up and they really saved us. Their customer service is exemplary and you can bet we will call them for any of our service needs. I understand they do plumbing as well. Rob F.Today was the second time I have used Erkie's in the past year, and all I can say is the service experience is superb. From the professionalism when making an appointment, the quick response time, the e-mail that comes immediately with the technicians' information and photo to the incredibly professional, knowledgeable, capable and friendly Tahari Reed - they have my loyalty as a customer for life! Both times Tahari was methodical in the diagnosis and then explained to me the issues in terms I could understand. He takes pictures AND video...again, to back up his findings. Amazing. Each time (one A/C problem, one heating problem) he resolved the issues in under an hour. So refreshing to to do business with such an honest organization and outstanding technician like Tahari.
This review is way overdue, but I wanted to base it on more than just our initial reaction. In the Spring, we contacted Erkies based on a friends recommendation to replace/upgrade our builder-installed existing air-conditioner and we are so glad we did. From start to finish, this is a first-class company, very professional and very customer oriented. We had been having issues with our compressor line freezing up and so we had Dane, the owner, come out and evaluate our situation. He discovered that the builder had mismatched the coils and compressor which accounted for some of the coverage problems we were having. He also gave us helpful information to evaluate whether it made more financial sense to fix the existing system or upgrade to a new high-efficiency system. We chose the latter option and purchased a 5-ton, 20 SEER, variable speed Maytag unit which Dane recommended because of their longer 12-year warranty and his experience with the reliability of the brand. Let me tell you, this has been a dream unit. The compressor is located on the outside of our TV room so we are particularly concerned about noise. This unit is so quiet, you can barely hear it at all in the house. The variable speed means that most of the time the compressor and the blower in the attic, operate at a lower speed in our home and that means its very quiet inside the house as well. Our monthly electrical costs associated with air-conditioning have dropped by about 40%.
Through the whole process of evaluating our situation, making recommendations and providing us with options, we never once felt pressured by Dane to make any particular purchase. Once we made our decision, the whole process of doing the install was handled very professionally. The folks in the office who do the scheduling are wonderful, very sweet and accommodating. The guys showed up to do the installation right on time and were top-notch. They were very polite, professional and caring. They gave us the ""red carpet"" treatment, by putting down roll-out flooring covers to protect our tile and carpet and were very careful with our walls and furnishings. They obviously knew what they were doing and were gracious in answering my many questions. The installation took a couple days since we also opted to install a whole house, steam humidifier for comfort as well as to protect our piano from warping in the dry desert air. They also installed a new Honeywell programmable thermostat which included integrated controls for the humidifier. We really like the small size and sleek design. The guys always showed up on time worked diligently and made sure it was all done correctly. All the guys were really wonderful, but I'm giving a special shout out to Tahari Reed who went above and beyond so many times. He goes by ""T"", but I think he has one of the coolest names, ever.
In summary, if you want quality work done by professionals at a competitive price, look no further than Erkies. Dane likes to say, ""you're now part of the Erkies family."" He definitely makes you feel like family. We know we're in good hands.

BE CAREFUL, NEIGHBORS. SEVERAL OF MY FRIENDS HAVE TOLD ME THAT THEY THINK THE SAME THING HAS HAPPENED TO THEM.
When my air conditioning unit wasn't cooling the house down all the way, I made the mistake of calling ERKIES HEATING AND AIR CONDITIONING for service.
The tech from ERKIES checked my system and said, ""All the refrigerant had leaked out."" He gave me an estimate of over $1000 to fix the leak and to refill the refrigerant and various other things. I told him I thought it sounded like a lot and would have to wait and do the service another time.
Before he and his colleague left, I heard a loud hissing noise coming from the air conditioning condenser behind the house.
After they left I checked my air conditioner. It was only blowing warm air.
Before Erkies got there my system was blowing cool -- not cool enough, but cool -- air on a 110 degree day.
After they left, it was blowing warm air.
WHY is that significant?
TO RUN COOL AT ALL, IT HAD TO HAVE REFRIGERANT IN IT. The Erkies assessment -- that all the refrigerant was gone because of a leak -- was simply UNTRUE.
If I had not been standing outside and heard the release of the refrigerant I never would have known something was up.
To get a second opinion, I was able to reach an air conditioning guy that I trusted, who had serviced my unit the year before.
He tested my system and confirmed what I thought --THERE WAS NO LEAK. He refilled my refrigerant and now my house is as cool as could be.
I spoke to Dane, the owner of Erkies. He was not interested in hearing anything I had to say and has no intention to resolve the situation that they created.
All I can say is: My new air conditioning technician found NO SUCH LEAK and found nothing to fix. He did have to replace all the refrigerant that had magically disappeared when Erkies was here.
It's unfortunate that this happened. It makes it so much worse that the owner of Erkies won't take responsibility even when it's confirmed that the LEAK that they describe DOESN'T EXIST.
Since this happened to me I have heard so many other story's from friends that were told their systems had leaked ""all"" the refrigerant out.
ANYTIME YOU HAVE YOUR A/C SERVICED MAKE SURE YOU KEEP AN EYE ON WHAT THEY ARE DOING SO THIS DOESN'T HAPPEN TO YOU.
...AND DON'T CALL ERKIES
