In 2019, Encore was established by Craig and Derek, a father and son duo. Craig entered the plumbing and HVAC field in 1985 after serving in the United States Air Force. Before retiring, he operated a local company alongside a partner. Derek learned the trade from his father as a child. He later pursued a career as a firefighter paramedic, dedicating 23 years to that profession. In 2019, he left the fire department and made the decision to open Encore Plumbing and Air.

Encore began with a single van and a vision for the company’s future. From the beginning, Derek aimed to provide exceptional customer service rooted in integrity and professionalism. The company has continued to expand since its early days, and we are only beginning. Derek is committed to having the best-trained professionals on the team, dedicated to their craft and delivering excellent service to our clients.

I started Encore to deliver superior service supported by experienced professionals. Having been a firefighter for 23 years, I learned the importance of customer service and attention to detail. I really hate putting people or companies on blast, but Encore Plumbing needs to get their act together... I don't want to blame the techs themselves, but I do blame the company on their training procedures... They try to up sell you on making believe that you need to replace you AC unit and or compressor and coil packs when most of the time it's just a $20-$40 dollar part... for instance a capacitor... I was quoted 2 quotes, one for $6,500 and the second for $10,300 the larger of the two was for a full AC system replacement.

I had two trained and certified HVAC techs from Encore Plumbing come out yesterday to looks at my unit to tell me that I needed to replace the AC unit compressor and evaporator coil pack on the blower in my garage... they insisted that my compressor and condenser coil was bad and no longer functional... I politely declined the service off...

After the techs left, I called a friend who recommended that I check the capacitor that I replaced 2 years ago... My YouTube HVAC certified ass with no experience tested the capacitor (with a simple volt meter) that I changed out 2 years earlier and found that it was bad again...it died on the compressor side (or the Herm side of the capacitor) I bought a new one for under $40 bucks and replaced it... and what do you know... My AC is blowing cold ass air again...

What a scam! The sad thing is is that this same company just replaced my next door neighbors whole system out... I don't have the heart to tell him that is was probably a $20 part...

Always get a second opinion or if you're mechanically inclined, test it yourself... don't allow yourself to be the victim of a scam... especially the elderly that are getting taken advantage of. These techs more than likely work off commission of what they can up sell in the field.

They didn't even bother to test the capacitor... so I basically gave them $65 dollars service fee for a bunch of hot air to be blown up my ass... no pun intended....

In reply to your comment below.... I think Jake and his trainee are both professional and great guys... this review was nothing personal...

My breaker has not once ever tripped on me before or after the fact... the only time it's ever tripped is when your techs were here and I personally didn't see it trip... also, please don't assume that my AC unit is 34 years old based on the year my house was built... I told Jake that I replace the unit in 2008... I wonder if that was in his notes because he did ask me? I also replaced and upgraded my circuit breaker panel and rewired my house in 2009... I always put safety first...

Although I appreciate your feedback, but do more homework before making assumptions...

My point is that nobody bothered to test a simple capacitor that was bad and insisted that I replace a bunch of parts that I didn't need...

BTW... My AC is still running great after changing out the $40 dollar capacitor... and wouldn't you know, the breaker hasn't tripped once... go figure...
