We hired Emery Plumbing to complete commercial plumbing for our coffee shop and couldn't be happier with the results. John and Christine were very communicative throughout the project. They were both professional, and the price was worth the quality work that was completed. It's obvious that John and Christine really care about their customers beyond the standard work relationship and want to see them succeed. Honestly, if I could give Emery Plumbing 6 stars I would! I can't recommend them enough.

It is hard to put our experience with Emery Plumbing into words. We are buying a house near the lava field in Pahoa, but contracted for the work while still in California. SO2 had badly compromised the major plumbing components as well as the gas line. They provided us wonderful guidance as they explained alternatives and relative costs. We elected to purchase a demand LPG water heater after John explained why it was superior to electric and dampened our fear of LPG. We initially decided to go with an outside heater, but after John surveyed the job, he explained why an inside heater made more sense and we changed our purchase. John also suggested we put in new gas lines and proceeded to add the appropriate valve and did an immaculate job running the line overhead and created a work of Art fastening the heater to the building. He sent pictures and video, and identified that the old line was so affected by the SO2 that it was a miracle there was no fire or explosion previously. Christine runs the office and is a user friendly consummate professional. John is clearly a talented plumbing artist with great creativity and technical skills. They did what they promised and then some, showed up on time and never complained about how troublesome the job was. We know their team took a lot more time than they expected for this fixed cost job, and they never complained. We cannot ever imagine using another plumber in Puna. It is a shame the scale only goes to five stars. They clearly deserved more.

Plumber John and his wife Christine were so helpful and friendly. John came up on a Sunday to help me with an emergency plumbing issue. Then he came back just a couple of days later to do a long-standing water heating issue that I wanted corrected. John lives off the grid himself so he understands catchment and solar energy issues. Everything is running smoothly now. I would recommend these guys in a heartbeat :-)

I normally don't say anything when i have nothing nice to say, but I draw the line when I know I am getting ripped off. After not honoring their advertised 'Residential Emergency Service Plumbing', I had a leaking external pex line, they told me they couldn't get to the job done till the next day. I had to send 2 reminders the next day for them to come take a look at the active leak and the job consisted of a simple cut and adding a pex coupler. The 2 pex crips and coupler easily less than $10. As a professional plumber, the labor should have been less than 30 minutes. They quoted me, $400!!!!!! I feel they did that because they new I was on the mainland and a property landlord. I would never take advantage of people like Emery plumbing tried to take advantage of me...what a shame!!!!!

Emery plumbing is amazing! My mom had a problem with their solar water heater, we called emery plumbing, John came over within a day or two, fix the issue and explained everything clearly and politely for my mother who is hard of hearing. I for sure would recommend them to anyone

I can no longer recommend. Service has become lack-luster as John now has workers completing jobs with little to no oversight. Caught one of his employees peeing on our lilikoi, which we pick and eat. Good thing I saw it or we would have picked pee'd on fruit. We've seen a decrease in workmanship as well. Yes, the work is guaranteed but the price of the job doesn't match the quality any longer.

Called for an appointment, got one, then on the day they are supposed to show-up, they cancel. Seems like they know how to book an appointment, but keeping it is a problem. Not a very professional way to do business, especially when you carve out a day, waiting for them in vain.

Very rude, cut me off because I am a facility maintenance company. I do work with 100's of contractors on all of the islands and do not have a problem. Rude and unprofessional.

It's rare to find a professional with this level of skill anywhere, much less small town Hilo. With decades of experience he's perfectly able to handle large scale projects, but John is willing to do things like replace a hot water heater with a day's notice. On top of that he's happy to entertain questions while working, and has a million great stories. Believe the hype people! If I could take him with me for all my future plumbing needs, I would.
