They did provide prompt service; however, this service came at an over-inflated cost. A simple low-amp fuse had blown on a relatively new air handler (also installed by ELCO). ELCO billed the 90-year old homeowner 5 hrs and almost $700 for a 1 hr job. Upper management offered no plausible explanation aside from ""it's like trying to find a needle in a haystack!""
Again, they charged 5 hrs for a 1-hour job. CUSTOMERS BEWARE !!!
Will not be using this fly-by-night contractor again. Will also warn others about ELCO's billable hour scheme. The final invoice was insulting & borderline fraudulent.
My generac went out and obviously was having maintenance issues. It was end of the day when we had initially discussed getting someone out to look at it. The very next morning at 10 am they were in my driveway and worked 5 hours and fixed the problem before the snow storm hit. If that isn't excellent service I don't know what excellent service is.
I wanted to post something positive about ELCO mechanical contractors. They have repaired both HVAC and plumbing issues at my office and home. The technicians are courteous and knowledgeable. There was a major plumbing repair that Michael figured out when others couldn't. I would be happy to refer people to them.
Floor was bad underneath commode. They charged us for 2 full sheets of plywood and only replaced approximately 2 square feet. Commode continued to leak because a screw in the floor was not flush with the floor. Refused to talk to us about overcharging us for plywood and other supplies. Manager was very rude.
Pro: We have two old faucets that leaked and they were able to fix them. We have an old toilet that he replaced the inside mechanism, I was very pleased with that. The repair technician was very nice.
Con: One toilet is still leaking, and the water leak issue was not resolved. Although the job was not complete, we received a bill of well over $2,000. Due to a discrepancy in the bill and the job not complete, the payment was delayed. When he called and I explained the issues, he was not concerned with unresolved plumbing issues, only concerned with payment. The bill was way too much for a job not completed. He yelled, said I was threatening him and hung up on me.
HIGH RATES!! JOB NOT COMPLETE!! MAIN CONCERN PAYMENT!!
BAD CUSTOMER SERVICE!! NO CONCERNED WITH CUSTOMER SATISFACTION!!
I moved into a townhouse years ago with a basement level that gets too cold to use. The owner had them install a new HVAC to fix it and it was not fixed. The next winter, they said they would install a new heating duct and put another vent in the floor. One of them scooted the dryer across the floor ripping up the flooring and left it. Since then, I have stopped using the basement and a different ELCO employee closed off the vent and admitted it was useless. I also have plumbing and hot water issues. The water wasn't getting hot in the kitchen, so someone fixed that. The faucet handle broke off later and when it was put back on, the water didn't get as hot. During that job, their employee scooted a storage cabinet away from the water tank and didn't move it back, leaving a bag of poisonous chemicals that fell off the top in the floor for my cats to play with. I just picked out the nicest faucet in store at Lowe's and it was put on with the base plate crooked and the bottom of the faucet isn't centered. Glue crumbs were everywhere. He left and took the box, so if it's MOEN's parts then Lowe's doesn't get the box back. I am disabled and the owner continues to call ELCO. I'm waiting to see if we have to get another new faucet, if they fix it, or if they want to keep making messes and putting holes in floors. I would never pay for this kind of work. I will find someone else to heat my basement and get hot water through the house if I ever have money.
