We have used Elkern's three different times; two different furnaces and our thermal air conditioning system. Each time they responded that day and fixed the issues in a timely manner, at an incredibly low cost. Two of the times we were out of town but our remote thermostats alerted us to the issues. The technicians are professional and very courteous. We trust Ekern's 100%.

The water heater was leaking and I was ready to purchase one. Chris suggested a tech check it. All that was needed was a $25 part, thus saving $100's of dollars. Good experience.

The tech who serviced the furnace found a problem. He took a picture of it and showed me the problem and explained the purpose of the part. The furnace was working correctly within the hour.

Ekern's has been the company I have worked with during the years I have lived in Brookings. Good ""home town"" service.

Calling Ekern's is like gambling. If you get a good experienced plumber assigned to you, your work will be done well in a timely manner. If you end up with an inexperienced plumber, expect it to take 3x longer than it should and for your bill to go way up. Because of course we should pay for their trainee to figure out what he did wrong and how to do it right. After one especially awful experience where a rookie plumber had to call in a veteran plumber to do the work for him, we found a new company to use for our plumbing needs. If you like to gamble, and have extra cash to spend, give them a call.

I had called for someone to fix a faucet that won't shut off. He confirmed when I would be home, I gave him my phone number if he needed to reach me and he never showed up or called. I ended up calling them after three hours of waiting and there were no plumbers to work on anything. No ""sorry for the inconvenience"" or anything. Now it's past five pm on a Friday, so it won't get fixed til next week. Meanwhile, my water bill is going through the roof. I'll be telling everyone I know to not use Ekern Plumbing. They are not dependable at all.
