Efficient AC, Electric & Plumbing
Company Overview
We started our operations in the mid-1970s. As the city of Austin has developed, so has our service. We now happily employ a growing team of experts whose expertise allow us to provide complete, top-notch HVAC, electrical, and plumbing assistance. We are proud to be a Carrier® Factory Authorized Dealer and the exclusive Carrier dealer in Austin to have received the President's Award twice.
Efficient AC, Electric & Plumbing is a community-based family-owned enterprise that has been serving the greater area since the year 1976. The firm, which holds an A+ rating from the Better Business Bureau, has developed a profile for providing exceptional HVACR (heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration) solutions to homeowners, business owners, and builders. In 1995, it became a woman-owned business. Molly and George Drazic took over the business from its original owner in the year 2008 and rebranded the company from RM Mechanical to Efficient Air Conditioning Inc. to more effectively represent the business' solutions to residential customers. The Drazics also broadened the company to offer electrical construction and service, and most lately, plumbing.
George Drazic, along with his partner, Molly, owns Efficient AC, Electric & Plumbing. George sought to establish a business that would benefit the local community, assist people, and offer a future for his household, which includes three young sons. George has always been attracted to building and this company allows him to engage in both. He enjoys the rapid transformations in the industry, and, as an engineer, directs the company in adopting and adapting to new technologies. Most of all, he cherishes the chance to connect with different clients.

Melissa C.We have been using this company for about 2 years now. They have been out for maintenance and also for repairs. Every time they have been on time, professional and friendly, and taken care of any issues. Today Clint came to do maintenance. He called ahead, arrived in the time frame, spent time carefully on each unit, gave friendly suggestions. We are very impressed with Clint and this company. Thankful to have such a reliable company for all AC needs.
Wesley M.My AC stopped blowing cold air and when I got on PreFix to find a recommended service, the only one available was Efficient in Austin, TX. I have never used them before, but given the pricing the PreFix website references "Hourly Rate: $125 / Diagnostic-Only Fee: $79" I figured they were worth a shot.
It took the technician about 10 minutes to diagnose the problem, which he said was a bad capacitor. He quoted me $462.00 for the repair. Their diagnostic fee, which is included is $119. So apparently their markup on a $70 part and the labor to install it (about 5 minutes) came to $273.00. I was happy with their response time and getting out to my house quickly after I called, but I would have expected to pay a much smaller fee, even accepting the $119 just to diagnose the problem. When I looked online, I see the average national cost for this type of repair is $160 - $375 and the price I paid is on the extreme high end of any estimates I can find.
The technician, Clint, was efficient and friendly, and I have no complaints about him (I did call the service manager to confirm the price so I do not think Clint was responsible for setting the cost).
I love these guys. They come promptly and do a great job. They found the problem that made my AC quit, but also checked out the whole unit. The charge was very reasonable. These guys know their business.
Stephanie B.The tech, Ross, that came out was great. Fast, efficient, friendly, knowledgeable. He's the only reason this place gets more than 1 star (and I would evaluate him separately as 5 stars). But I was charged $385 for a capacitor, which is a $15 dollar part -- a price I'm sure the company sets, not the tech. (And that's JUST the charge for the part, not the service fee.) Which in my book is straight up theft - and exploitative of their customer base. It's unlikely I'll ever use Efficient again. I hope Ross somehow received the lion's share of that ridiculous markup.
Kerrie J.I thought I had a "simple" project, but I was in over my head. John was great! He was very nice, explained what was going on, clearly told me his plan, and completed the job right and fast! Definitely will be using Efficient anytime I need a reliable and efficient electrician!
Jon M.This is a reply to Efficient, who replied in November to my September 14th complaint. My problem with Efficient became a 2 part issue:
1. Failure to repair the Air Conditioner
2. Failure to respond to our repeated phone calls, online communications, and hard copy letter addressed to George Drazic, President and Molly Drazic, CEO in a nearly two month period to discuss the bill. The November Yelp post is the first peep from Efficient in the face of all those attempts and appeared just one day after I posted a bad review of Efficient on the BBB website (to be followed by a formal complaint with BBB).
But first things first: As I suspect that the posted Efficient Yelp response is mostly for the benefit of not discouraging future customers as it was a public post rather than a private attempt to even look into our complaint, let me post the report by the AC repairman who came a few days after Efficient and fixed the whole thing for $141.60. I encourage readers to compare it to the elaborate description of the hopelessness of our AC system posted by Efficient:
"The vents basically had to be adjusted to restrict so much air to be pumping into the living room area, so that there is more forced air going into the bedrooms. The vent in the living room was basically allowing too much air to escape. So it was not an AC issue, but more of an older system setup type issue. The vendor was able to install ductboard baffles and said that should be all that is needed to make the airflow push into those rooms better. Since the tenant described it as the living room stays very cold, there is obviously plenty of cold air getting in, it was just a matter of controlling the air flow."
Unlike the detailed diagnosis described by Efficient, which I again and most importantly invite the reader to compare to our happy ending, what was communicated to us, the owners and decision makers, in a phone call by the tech was much simpler. I repeat: We were told that the system was 25 years old and beyond repair, too old to even attempt a cleaning AND THE ONLY SOLUTION WAS TO INSTALL A NEW AC SYSTEM. When we suggested an approach much like what was actually successfully done, the tech was very dubious and sounded unwilling.
But for the sake of analysis of Efficient's performance, let's assume that the tech did suggest to us the $500-$600 fix (which he didn't) and we went along with it because we were over a barrel and already $99 into it, we would have grossly over-paid for a "solution" that might not have even worked. We suggest that readers review the Yelps sorted by worst reviews first and see if there isn't a pattern.
We were with this company for 12 years - from installation on the upstairs unit through yearly maintenance with "service"' as recently as March 2021. When it came time for a new a/c Downstair, we asked for a bid and got not much of a response, so we called someone else. Fair enough. But today, when the "services in March 2021" unit failed, we called the company that did respond and had installed the new downstairs unit. What they found: 3 months after Efficient's "service" call was cut wires, a missing relay and a massive rodent infestation. Add to that cut wires that were just wound around in a jumble - I have pictures. We can't prove a direct link to the upstairs unit's failure, but the condition of the unit speaks for itself. We used to think they were great. We do not recommend this company.
Brandon R.Efficient is awesome, when I called I actually spoke to a live person who went above and beyond to accommodate my service call with my schedule. Then when the technician arrived I received that same awesome service and I also learned a few things about my unit that I never knew. Five star service in my opinion
I had the bad luck of having my A/C go out during the July 4 holiday weekend. I called 6 repair shops and Efficient was the only one who responded to my request. Scheduling was quick and efficient and the technician (Ross) had the expertise to diagnose my issue and complete the repairs quickly and efficiently. Charges were clearly explained to me over the phone and in person. I highly recommend them for A/C repairs or installation.
Robert F.I hired Efficient for some electrical work and Jonathan Padro was the technician. Jonathan provided outstanding work and service. Besides finding and resolving the problem, he also help find potential risk areas. I had him go back to do additional work and he followed up with great work and professionalism. Will certain call Efficient and Jon specifically again for future work.
