Total disaster. Service Technicians were pleasant, but arrived unprepared. Didn't have the proper tools. Needed to call another technician to come out and help, because the motor on his snake was broken. After 5 hours of no success, they told me I needed more than the snake. Second offer was to blow the clog out with pressure washer. They came back the next day and did nothing. Ended up leaving due to a family emergency. Said they would return first thing in the morning. They ended up not returning at all the next day. They left in such a hurry, they left there tools laying in the middle of my floor in the basement. Extension Cord laying all over. I have 2 kids, a 4 and a 5 year old. If either of them had gone downstairs to snoop, or get ice cream from the fridge, it would have been very dangerous for them.
I called to find out what was going on and they said the associate took a personal day and could not come out.
I rescheduled service and they ended up sending another technician out at 930 in the morning, who hasn't been here and didn't know what was going on. I had a 1pm appointment, they showed up at 2:45. At this point, the clog seemed to be clear, but I was unsure if there was still partial blockage? He knocked it out with the pressure washer and offered to knock off the price, due to the poor customer service and the fact it took them 4 days to complete the job. He left without capping the covers and 5 hours later, another technician returned to put caps on and collect payment (Without the amount I was promised to be removed).
Ultimately, this will go down as one of the worst service experiences I've had to deal with. Plus it cost me nearly $1300. My basement still smells like sewage.
Rita G.If I could give this company NO STARS at all, I would. They quoted my friend 69 dollars to come to her home to fix a leaking toilet.. A young man came... told her she needed a new toilet... she told him no way was she going to buy a new toilet.. He adjusted the chain and charged her 169 dollars. Originally it was more, but after complaints they adjusted the bill.
Do yourself a favor and stay as far away from this company as you possibly can. I believe the favorable reviews on this company's website are FAKE and I totally agree with the other reviewers here about this company being a SCAM, and all about the fast cash grab. For $285, Edward's came out to snake out my basement drain. They snaked the drain, I paid them, they left. The next morning, there was water near the same drain. I thought it might just be leftover residue, so I cleaned it up. The basement was dry the next morning, but as soon as the water from the bathtub went down the drain, all hell broke out in the basement. When I called Edward's, I was initially told that a plumber would be sent out to make sure that the drain had been properly snaked, and that there would only be a charge if the problem turned out to be something else. Sounded fair to me. But then, the rep said he had to pass the call to his ""supervisor"" to make sure he had given me the correct information. Supervisor ""Jimmy"" proceeded to tell me that once drains are snaked out that they don't require snaking out again for at least a year. However, they were running a special and for $174.95, they would come out and recheck the drain.
Now, I may have been born at night, but I was not born last night. I called Flame Heating and Cooling, and for the unbelievable sum of $99, the drain was snaked and the offending undergarment was
retrieved about 10 feet into the drain pipe. I guess Edward's only snakes 9.5 feet into the drain pipe.
I initially had an appointment with Flame, but my appointment was for Saturday, and I just couldn't spend another day mopping up sewer water and feces. Which is why I called Edward's. BIG MISTAKE!!
I have learned my lesson well, and will never again stray into the shark infested sewer sludge that is Edward's Heating and Cooling.
Stay away from this plumbing company. They rob you blind and they DO NOT call you back when you have a problem with their work! I called them 11:40pm as an emergency because I had water coming up my basement drain. I needed the storm drain snaked. I usually go with Burton's plumbing because they r very good and priced reasonably but they were booked for a couple days because of the flooding my area was having. I was told by this company that an emergency charge of $168 would be charged plus the price of the snaking. Outrageous! I was desperate to get the water out of my finished basement. So when the guy arrived he wanted to charge over $300 for snaking on top of the emergency charge. I agreed because I was desperate. He snaked the drain but the water kept coming into the basement and had no answers for me. I ended up with a bill of $418 and water still coming up into the basement! Burtons was able to come out the next morning snaked my storm drain properly and within 15 minutes water had stopped coming in. He said they didn't snake the t-trap! I paid Burton's $168 for the snaking. I called to get a refund from this company and was told twice that a supervisor would get back to me, NEVER happened! They texted me and wanted me to rate them so that's what I'm doing here. In there text they said I could text back if I had any questions or problems. I texted them many times during the day and no response from them! DO NOT call them for your plumbing needs, even in a desperate situation!
I had a new washer and dryer delivered, and when they were being installed, we found an issue with our gas line. Our previous dryer had been broken for a while, so we needed prompt service. I called several places, and couldn't get anyone out quickly. We called Edward's out and they were were available next day. Great, I thought. The technician arrived right at the time he was supposed to. I showed him what was wrong, and he came up with a pretty simple solution. He was going to remove the old flexible copper line that was tapped into the main gas line, add a new flexible black pipe, and install a shutoff valve. From the valve, he would attach another flex line into the dryer. Pretty easy. He said he was going to go out to the truck to come up with a price.
He came back and told me $385.00. I was shocked. I asked why it was so high, and he said the fittings are very expensive. Because we couldn't get anyone else out within 2 weeks, I told him to go ahead (I realize this is expensive, but I trusted that I wasn't getting ripped off).
He did all of the work in less than an hour. Turned the dryer on and everything worked great! I paid the technician and he left. Then, still in disbelief as to how much I paid, I took pictures of all the parts (the flex pipe, a couple fittings, and the shutoff valve) and looked at prices online. The parts came to a total of around $50. The service fee for Edwards to come out was $60. So, unless labor costs $275 an hour, I am thoroughly confused and disappointed I was charged so much. I am very happy with the service, but I definitely got ripped off. I will never use Edwards again, and I'd suggest before having them do any work to your home, get a few other quotes first. I'd be willing to bet you'll go with someone else too.
Ethan A.To be fair I am giving 1 star for customer service: refusing to give me an itemized bill, refusing to tell me what they actually charged me for the labor, or the hot water heater, or what their ""flat fee"" that I was told they charge to 'all' clients was, and being charged $3000 for replacement of a 50 gallon tank. The actual plumbing work so far seems fine.
My complaint is I believe I was ripped off, I told them this numerous times, all I want is to know what the itemization of my bill is which came to $3,000. I've found the hot water heater they installed online ranging from $800-$1300 (yes this includes local big box stores), so even if they paid top dollar (which they refuse to tell me what they paid or charged me for) AND if they charged me $1000 for labor (they also refuse to tell me what they charged for labor, they only keep telling me that they charge all their customers a ""flat service fee"" but they won't tell me what that is either) then that comes to $2300, where's the extra $700 going they charged me? They won't tell me.
After 5 phone calls by me to them over 6 weeks (the job was done on 8/20/18) 4 calls ending up with the dispatch manager Jen or Jan or something like that, and two promises from her that she would discuss my issue with the General Manager and he would assuredly get back to me, I still have no idea how I was possibly charged $3,000 to replace a 50 gallon hot water heater that sells for $800-$1300.
The back story if you care:
I had my hot water heater go out on Monday morning 8/20 as I was getting ready for work. I called several places but Edwards was the first one that could be out same day. They told me it's a flat rate over the phone for the service call (I had to shut water off to the whole house because the inlet to the water heater was seized so I didn't think to ask what that fee was at the time) and the plumber would determine what repair or replacement needed to be done.
The plumber was here a total of about 3-4 hours, but he also left 2 different times that I know of, once for about 45-60 minutes so I don't know if that was lunch or what. He was friendly and courteous, he did not explain or detail any charges to me or give me any estimate during the time he was here other than say, it'd be about $3000.
I was shocked that it cost so much but at the same time, the water to my house was shut off, my hot water heater was broken, I had had to take off work for the day already, and I had spent over an hour calling other plumbers to come fix it and they were the first ones that could do it same day. So I reluctantly agreed to the charge but asked about a billing statement, he said they don't do paper anymore, it's all by email. I thought ok, fine, at least I'll see what all went to this $3000 charge and if something is funny maybe I can dispute it later.
I've called about once a week since trying to get the inspection scheduled and trying to at least be verbally told what I was charged in labor and for the hot water heater. I've been put through to the ""dispatch supervisor"" Jen or whatever her name is 4 times (she also indicated she is the one responsible for arranging the city inspections) told her my concerns and belief I was ripped off especially when I find the cost of the tank ranges from $800-$1300 so what did they charge for labor? She assured me at least on 2 separate occasions she would personally speak to the General Manager about my concerns and would ask him to call me to discuss it.
The last call I made to them was over a week ago, today is 10/6/18, I've still heard nothing. I'm just throwing out the $1000 in labor estimate, I have no idea what the actual labor cost. But assuming that figure and the cost of the tank, I was presumably overcharged by $700-$1200.
So bear this in mind potential customers. If I knew then what I know now, I'd have toughed it out another day and waited for another plumbing company to come out.
Called EPH to help resolve a sewer back up at my home. Their initial response was very good, they came out immediately and cleared the initial blockage so that we could use our toilets again. I had roots growing in my sewer feed line in my front yard, which they suggested to replace. I agreed to the service; a few days later their team came out to find the pipe in my front yard with detectors, then they started excavation. They dug for two days and then concluded that they did not locate the pipe properly in the first place, and sent another team out again with detection equipment. Digging continued in another location and the excavator was moved all around my front yard. Eventually it took a week and a half to complete the excavation, and a large portion of my front yard was destroyed. Throughout the process, I did not get any updates from management, unless I called and pestered their operators to talk to a manager. I clearly did not get the A-team from this company to work on my sewer pipe excavation, but rather some fresh hires. Beware, their customer relations from management are non-existent!
The worst.Scammers. I called Edwards plumbing Dearborn because of a leaking Tub Sink And Shower. They responded promptly and sent a plumber the same day. The charge was $59 to come out plus the work. The plumber took the faucets apart and told me that he would ask his parts person to look for the parts but that it was better to replace all the hardware. He charged $137 for the visit..He said he would get back to me. Four days later I called, Because I had not heard from them. I was told that the plumber had sent the info to Kohler and were waiting for a reply as to what parts I needed. He would call me. Three days later, after no call, I called again and was told that they would call their plumber. They called me back and said that the plumber told them, there were no replacement parts and that they would install new hardware $1058 plus the cost of the hardware. It was an obvious lie because I called Kohler and in 10 minutes, they had given me the part numbers that I needed. They either did not contact Kohler or deliberately lied about the parts ,so that I would pay them to redo all the hardware in my bathroom. I called and spoke to the manager ,who promised to call back, and obviously did not. The next dayI called again and the manager called back and refused to refund any of my payment ( i did not ask for the $59 to come out, just the rest because they had lied to me) but that they would install the parts for $578 .71. A new plumber is installing the parts for $150.Do not use Edwards Plumbing of Dearborn, terrible company.
Douglas W.Edwards Plumbing & Heating (EPH) was sub-contractor hired by my contractor on a kitchen and laundry room remodel in 2016. Job requires condo office notification, with request for 2hr window for water shut-off. This needs to be done ~48 hrs in advance so condo can give other residents 24 hrs fair notice that the water will be shut off, too. Condo is my mother-in-law's, she has memory issues and is not comfortable dealing with workers in her home so I need to be there in case she gets confused. Description below is to my best recollection. It's long but details an award-winning level of abominable service.
(1) Plumbing permit never pulled with original work in 2016, was issued in Feb 2017.
(2) 6/8: City inspector on-site, plumbing work from previous year fails inspection. Called EPH, rework scheduled for 6/12.
(3) 6/12: Plumber on-site, leaves to get parts. Returns 2 hrs later, but reschedules rework for 6/15. Condo office notified and water shut off requested.
(4) 6/15: Plumber does not show-up. Called EPH, who apologizes, tells me that today is plumber's day off, he should not have scheduled anything for today. Rework re-rescheduled for 6/29.
(5) 6/29: 2-person crew arrives, plumbing reworked at scheduled time.
(6) 7/3: City inspector on site, plumbing rework fails inspection, mechanical issue related to parts used. Called EPH, re-rework scheduled for 7/7.
(7) 7/7: EPH office did not contact condo office, so water shut-off was never set-up. Re-rework rescheduled for 7/10.
(8) 7/10: Plumber does not arrive. Called EPH who says plumber's truck needed work/broke down, missing 2hr water shut-off window. Re-rework re-rescheduled for 7/13.
(9) 7/13: I arrived late, plumber is not there. Story I piece together is that plumber left because the water is not off. Due to previous no-shows, condo staff waiting to hear that plumber was actually at the condo before shutting off the water. Plumber never called condo office, never called me, just left. Called EPH, re-rework re-re-rescheduled for 7/17.
(10) 7/17: 2-person crew arrives, one works on pipes and other sleeps in van outside with motor running. Plumber inside mentions he has no idea what the inspector wants really.
(11) 7/19: City inspector on site, plumbing re-rework fails inspection again; problems highlighted in previous inspection not addressed. Inspector says codes are not new and that any licensed plumber should know exactly what needs to be done based on his report accessible on eTrackit website. He says no one from Edwards called him about this job. Called EPH, work scheduled for 7/21. I state that I will request to see the plumber's license before I allow work to be performed.
(12) 7/21: New plumber on-site, he arrives late, with only 45 minutes left in water shut-off window. He says he is the new supervisor. He assures me that he knows what parts are needed and what needs to be done, and he contacts the inspector's office to make sure. Too late to actually do the work, he reschedules a plumber for 7/24, guarantees job will be completed to code then.
(13) 7/24: No plumber on-site at condo. Called EPH, on hold for 20 minutes. Office not sure what happened, job is definitely on the day's schedule. They call me back later to say re-re-rework re-rescheduled for 7/26. They absolutely guarantee that the work will be completed to code then.
(14) 7/26: Plumber arrives on time, has parts, has license. Re-re-rework performed. Inspector scheduled for 7/28 AM.
(15) 7/28: inspector passes plumbing work. The ordeal is finally over.
1-Star for finally getting the work done :(
Taj L.This is a SCAM company who tried to swindle my mother for fixing her clogged toilet. She called them out and they charged her $122 to plunge her toilet!!! And they didn't even fix it, she had to call them back out to fix it again! Instead of doing their job which they should have done the first time they tried to charge her another $95!! Absolutely ridicolous!
