In January of 2016 our basement flooded and the furnace needed repairs. The first tech Edelman's sent out was 30 minutes late. When the tech finally arrived he was able to diagnose that the furnace blower was out and needed replacing. After the tech left, we noticed a hot electrical smell coming from the furnace, and then smoke and a popping sound. Scared that there could be a fire, we called the tech back and he rushed over to remove the blower and set it outside in the snow so that it ""wouldn't start a fire"" before leaving again.
After discussing with Barb the expense and wait time, the new blower was ordered. 8 days later (with no heat, in the middle of January, with apparently no one at Edelman's grasping the urgency of being without heat in the middle of January) A second tech arrived, replaced the blower and then proceeded to tell me that another part (that we already replaced) needed replaced, THEN asked me if the basement had flooded recently? Here we are over a week into a single repair job, and there was a tech asking me basic questions their employer should have made clear when assigning them the job.
After I told the tech we already replaced that part, and asked why would it need replacing again, he said he didn't know, but assured me after I replaced that other part that it ""should work"" and then he handed me a bill for just shy of $900 and promptly left.
When I went to see what sort of condition the furnace was in, I was brought to tears. There were large parts of my furnace still unattached where the tech did not reattach them. Other parts and tools were just laying on the floor, or hanging from furnace wire. The blower motor housing wasn't reattached to the furnace wall and the door to the furnace wasn't closed, leaving wires and parts dangling everywhere, some almost to the floor. The tech unattached a number of wires and did not label any, so we did not know how to fix them.
In short: I called Edelman's too fix my furnace, and that didn't happen. In fact, with the exception of replacing the blower motor, they made our situation objectively worse. After the repairs, my husband and I fell on some hard financial problems and had difficulty in making payments. I did not want to leave this review until after I had paid off the bill in full, as I did not want to be accused of trying to skip out on payment. Now that I have paid, I feel I and other potential customers in the area are entitled to know what sort of service they can expect from Edelman's.
I do not fault any of the techs in their work. I blame a lazy management's faulty training/work ethic, and will advise anyone who would consider Edelman's in the future to go PLEASE elsewhere.
