We purchased a house in Yorba Linda 3 years ago. We knew eventually that we would need to update our HVAC system. Our house had several issues. It was built in the late 60's and still had the original asbestos ducts. The house was extended in the late 90's to make a larger master bedroom and bathroom. Unfortunately the A/C unit was never replaced to adjust for the size. This resulted in our master bedroom being the hottest room in the house! In addition we had no vents in any of our bathrooms. OH and our furnace was in a very tight spot in the attic that was impossible to service. Tons of problems! I called 3 companies to give me quotes on improving my system. Two companies scratched their heads and said they never saw anything like it. Mike from Econo Air was super experienced and very confident he could solve our problem. He was very sensitive about price and gave us several options including taking the furnace apart (to get it out of the tiny space) and putting it back together in the new more logical place). I really was impressed by his expertise. I was also glad that his company followed all permit requirements ( some smaller companies will try and skip this important step!). The smaller company gave me a better deal, and another company quoted me $5,000 more than Econo Air!!!! I felt like Econo Air's price was fair and I appreciated the fact that Costco was backing the company and giving me a $1,000 rebate! The best part was that from beginning to end the job was done extremely professional. They kept the house clean, finished on time, and followed up with all permits! I have dealt with contractor's a lot. This was such an easy and smooth process! My master bedroom is now cool and comfortable! I would recommend Econo Air, especially if you have a tricky job!

Econo Air came recommended to us by my parents and we ended up using them for our first house. We are now in the process of moving in to our second house and immediately called them to schedule an appointment for a new heater and putting in an AC. It was easy to make an appointment, but that's where the easy part ends.

Tim, our consultant if you can call him that, arrived an hour late...an hour late from the BACK end of the window. I had to call the office to see where he was because I never received a phone call letting me know that he would be late. I know that things happen, but a phone call would be nice, especially since we are not living at our new house yet and I had to drive over there after finding childcare. The office didn't know where he was but said they would find out. They called back 15 minutes later and said that he would be another 45 minutes. I asked if they had another consultant. No was the answer I was given.

When Tim finally arrived, he looked at our old heater and plopped down a price list. There are four options. This is where I was shocked. Like, I said, we had used them in our old house 4 years ago. Four. The lowest package was $5,000 more then we paid 4 years ago and the package we had purchased was $10,000 more. They literally went up 100% in four years. When my dad, who was with me, asked if they had raised their prices, Tim replied, ""about 15%"". Yea right. When I asked if they had other options (last time when I was presented with the packages, I was still able to customize with different condensers), he said no. Since the prices he quoted me were WAY over our budget, I told him that I would get back to him and he said he would email me the price list (since he had no paperwork to leave me.). He said that since my dad and I were repeat customers, he would talk to his boss to see if they could cut us a deal. This was a Saturday.

By Monday at 5PM I still hadn't received an email or a phone call. I called Tim and he hadn't talked to his supervisor yet. He said he would call me the next day. I told him that we had an appointment with another company the next day at 10AM. At that point he changed his tune and said he would call me first thing in the morning. He called at 7AM on Tuesday morning and let me know that since we were repeat customers, they would let us purchase the unit that we had at our old house for the price of the cheapest package they currently offered...which is still $5,000 more then we paid 4 years ago. I told him no thank you.

Fed up at this point, my husband called and asked to talk to a manager after our quote with the other company later that day. (Who gave us a quote for under what Econo Air had charged us last time and included a better unit, thermostat, filter, AND pulled all the proper permits.). He was told there was no manager there and to call back later. He did and finally got a hold of someone. After explaining the situation and how we were repeat customers, he was told that ""Econo Air is a more mature business now."" My husband replied, ""You're a mature business that just lost our business.""

Terrible experience and a waste of our time.

I am surprised by the negative reviews. Upon home inspection for escrow, we found we needed duct repair in attic. From the moment I spoke with Shayley(front office) to having the work completed by Jim & his crew, our experience was great! Very professional & courteous people. Being that we are on a very short deadline, we didn't have time to get multiple quotes, but felt cost was very fair. Crew showed up on time and ready to work. Great job!

I am looking to replace my HVAC systems at home and saw a guy at Costco signing people up for a free estimate. Thinking that I love Costco and most of their services, how could I go wrong? I had them come out for the estimate and the man was very nice. He told me what my option was, as apparently there is only 1 and it would be 15,000 but I would get a tax credit and Costco card to bring it down to $10,000. This sounded really high to me, but as it was my first quote I wasn't all that sure.
This is where things started to go wrong. As I asked for any literature and a written estimate he was unable to provide this. He told me to take a picture of his papers and he could not leave me with anything!
After getting other quotes that were all under $7500 I emailed the rep that had come out to let him know that he was way out of the ballpark I received the rude response of ""I hope they 25% they are skimping on their work isn't the dangerous parts""

I would never use this company with prices so way out of line and this is after they wouldn't even tell me the model numbers of the machines they would install. The rude response just adds insult to injury.

I am sorry I wasted my time with this company and am saddened that Costco would associate themselves with them

buyer beware these people are liars and crocks
they tried to scare a customer into spending over $3000 an a system that was working properly everything they said was bad was inspected and found to be in perfect working order.
The only thing the unit needed they didn't even catch
it had a bad thermostat a $10. part.
they scam you into thinking your getting an inspection and tune up, then give you a list of bad parts. that any one of would stop the units from functioning, but it works imagine that. then they tell you if you don't do the work your going to burn your house down and have you sign a waver that you understand the risk to further scare you.

BEFORE YOU HAVE THEM DO ANY WORK, OR GIVE THEM ANY MONEY
get 2 additional inspections from well known company
There are too many Bad contractors and they need to be shut down

We had a very difficult and expensive time with this company over the last few years and are finally moving on with someone else, Econo Air should not be trusted to work honestly or fairly on anything that they sell or are called out for. They really took us for a ride and that is not typical for us. Each time they would come out which was annually as needed they would charge us $1200 or more for ""fixes"" that may or may not have been legitimate. They ""gouged"" us every year. To the point I realized it was several thousand dollars and we could have replaced our entire system instead.

Our situation was escalated to the president of the company who then attempted to make things ""right""......by giving us a waiver to try to fix the problems that we incurred. We then found out that through a second opinion that the ""complimentary"" fix wasn't worth the amount that they had stated to us. We had incurred multiple expenses for replacement of parts, labor, incorrect installations and we then find out the above. Then the president writes us an email that was really unnecessary and unhelpful. It was Christmas Eve and we are traveling on business and seeing family and Econo Air is not happy with our Yelp review and asking us to revise it since they felt our problems were addressed. We are now exasperated and after reading the email the president sent saying that we would be DELETED from the database if they did not hear from us by January 4th.

Do your homework and get comparables from other vendors so you can make a wiser decision. If anyone has a recommended HVAC company that they can recommend in the Northeast LA area please feel free to post on here, Thanks!

Wow absolutely terrifying scammers. Don't trust a word they say - get a second opinion and find out for yourself. There's a reason I use Angie's List for providers now and this is the company

Based on my experience, the predominately unfavorable reviews are justified. Econo Air charged $495 for an $18 plug 'n play capacitor, plus $100 for the inspection (of course, nearly everything supposedly needed replacing at thousands of dollars). They are done here, as in never again. Michael Richards is listed as the CEO...isn't he a comedian!

I am revising my review for Econo-Air as after explaining my complaint here online and by phone with their corporate office, their team was able to address the issues we experienced.

I have raised my review from one-star to two, it is for a few reasons - 3 stars is consider ""A-Okay"" and I do not consider the experience I went through to meet that standard. So two-stars seems fair - ""Meh, I've experienced better"" as being appropriate.

1) Not all their workers who visited my home did the proper work for paid tune-ups as verified by the lead team that Econo-Air sent out to resolve the issue for us.

2) The unit we were sold was improperly marked on our invoice as a size smaller and was 1-ton larger than we would ever have needed, so we overspent for our unit and while an efficient unit, it is underutilized.

3) After comparison, by and large, Econo-Air's fees are higher than equally skilled smaller firms.

My recommendation remains to consider another provider and if you decide to stay with Econo-Air, you are doing so after spending the time to get counter bids. Sweat it out a few days and get multiple bids and check referrals, it might be worth thousands to do so.
