Listen to these reviews. They were charging me over $1000 a year for oil. I kept calling and telling them that we used an electric fireplace and had their thermostat set at 55 so why were my bills so high. They kept blaming it on my hot water heater. I finally insisted they come and inspect. The hot water heater is electric! I was getting charged to heat up water in the boiler for the heat I never used. They kept the water at 140°, 24 seven 365 days per year. Why were they hitting it during the summer? These people are scam artists.

I called and asked to have a washer and dryer installed in my kitchen.That's all I said. I was quite rudely told to call Lowe's. E T Lawson advertises plumbing, electrical and HVAC. Guess they don't need any more business. Skip this outfit.

Unfortunately, I needed a brand new oil furnace after mine had deteriorated. ET Lawson provided outstanding service and showed up each day at the exact time they said they would. Their quality of work had far exceeded my expectations. I highly recommend Stan and Chris for any of your installation needs. Two hard workers!

Service update. We had service Thursday saying they would return Friday with fan...by the way no Heat/air....no show, no call on Friday. Called Saturday since cold night...they came and replaced fan but again no heat in the evening. Called Sunday. Owner says to Secretary to tell them to wait to Monday. Wonder why Owner didn't call us since we spoke to him on Saturday? Horrible customer service. They are committed to service families? Really? -- with Curt Lang.

I've been listening to this company advertise via radio in the Hampton Roads area for years. They sounded very knowledgeable and professional on the radio; so I finally decided to give them a try. I asked them to provide their free test of my home's air duct efficiency. On the scheduled day their technician arrived on time and proceeded to hook up his equipment to my main register and plug up all my vents. I was busy on the phone with a friend so I didn't have a chance to pay close attention as he proceeded to block all the vents. After running the test the technician reported my duct system was operating at barely 60% efficiency. He described a service where they spray a product into the duct system which automatically plugs up any holes up to a quarter size. The service would cost well over $2,000.00. He practically guaranteed this service would significantly raise my efficiency and probably save me up to 40% on my energy bills. I asked him about a product/service warranty, which he said was 10 years. He then proceeded to disconnect his equipment then unblock the vents. I was off the phone this time and followed him to every vent. When we got to the kitchen we discovered he had missed 1 ceiling vent. He looked somewhat embarrassed, then he told me that one vent wouldn't make much difference in the test and my ducts were still very inefficient. At this moment an alarm rang in my mind! This person felt comfortable charging me over $2,000.00 for a product/service, based on a test which he conducted incorrectly. Instead of offering to redo the test he simply left for his next appointment.
Everyone makes mistakes; and I would have understood if he told me he was running late to another appointment, but he would schedule another time (convenient to me) to come out and redo the test. But instead he took the lazy way out. After all, it was his mistake, and the professional thing to do (in my opinion) would have been to redo the test then or at a scheduled later date. There's an old and very wise adage that if you can't trust someone with something small; you very likely can't trust them with something big. In my case the ""big"" was a $2000.00+ service. When E. T. Lawson advertises on the radio; they use buzz phrases like;
- been in business for 100 years
- someone you can trust
- we stand behind our work
- you can never tell with some companies
- etc., etc., etc.
Well, in this situation, E. T. Lawson couldn't be trusted to do their test correctly; they didn't stand behind their technician's work, because I tried on two occasions to call and explain what happened. The first time I was put on infinite hold (I hung up after 6 minutes of holding). The second time I was put on hold again, then hung up on after about a minute (I haven't tried to contact them since). Obviously in this situation, it didn't matter that they'd been in business for 100 years. And I agree with their statement that you can never tell with some companies, i.e. INCLUDING THEM!!! Another interesting item, is some simple math regarding what the technician told me. His quoted price for the service was about $2,400.00, If I assume he's right about a resulting 40% savings on my energy bill, that would be about $40.00/month (i.e. my average monthly energy bill is about $100.00) or $480.00/year. In ten years that means I would save $4,800.00/year. However, the product/service is warranted for 10 years. So, if I have to redo it after 10 years, that's another $2,400.00 (only if the price hasn't risen over 10 years). That's comes out to a net savings to me of a whopping $0.00!?!

This company has given us really good service for many years. We have the furnace on a maintenance contract. If anything malfunctions they are there to fix it. Often it is within a few hours of making the call. As long as they maintain the level of service we have had forall these years I would not consider switching

I really wished I had looked at reviews. I knew we needed work done on our crawl space so I had 4 or 5 companies look at it. My father was really pushing this company, and usually he has good judgement, but he missed the mark on this one. Bobby did seems knowledgeable and we got the best price for all the work we needed. He also recommended sealing out ducts. We have an older house and I know it's not the most energy efficient, plus we got a deal for doing both (duct work and crawl space) so I figured OK. Both my husband and I work full time and when Donald Allan (president) called about starting the work he said someone would only need to be present the 1st day in the morning and it would only take 4 days. So I took off work in the morning and hung around (for no reason...I didn't need to be home). Then I get a call the 3rd day saying no one was home and they needed to get into the house. OK, I don't work close, and I'm a teacher, I can't just leave a classroom full of kids. So my husband dropped everything and raced home. The same thing happened the next day (and husband had to leave work early unexpectedly), to install the dehumidifier control in our pantry. No one told us about this either time. I just kept thinking back to that initial conversation I had with Donald Allen, ""so I only need to be present the the 1st day?"" And he kept saying ""yes ma'm"" (and as I already said, I didn't even need to be home that day). I was ignorant about the process. Now that I know more, I realize that of course, they'd need access to the house to install the panel and do the duct work, but I was not walked through any of this beforehand. For the dehumidifier control, the guy cut the hole incorrectly, so while he installed it, I had to take off work again to get the hole patched (and they did a crummy job and my husband's still mad). While they were doing that though, they noticed the control wasn't on well, but of course, they couldn't fix that, it had to be someone else in the company. They got Donald Allen on the phone who said someone could come out Monday, I said that wouldn't work and he said he'd have to call me back later then to figure out something. He never called and while on my way to work Monday, the secretary called to say someone was on our way to the house! I said, well he may as well turn around because no one's home. In the mean time, I also get a call for the duct work. OK - as I've said before, this is me being ignorant. I didn't realize for the duct work they would need the attic and all the ducts in the house. But when they finished up the crawl space they told my husband ""all done."" When I asked my husband, did you know they hadn't done the duct work? my husband said nope. So again, another day I had to take off since it was a long process and they needed access to the whole house (and it was THREE weeks after the crawl space). Donald Allan assured me that at the same time they could fix the control - nope. So I had to take off ANOTHER day of work to get a completely new control installed because the one we had (brand new mind you, was warped). What a mess.

I am giving E T Lawson 1 star because that is the lowest possible for a review. E T Lawson refused to look at my 96 year old mother's furnace although they replaced parts in the past, leaving her without heat when high temperatures were predicted to be 30 degrees or less. It wasn't just they wouldn't come that day, they refused to come out at all. The part was one month out of warranty. Do not recommend this company at all. Very poor service.

Service is OK, but fuel oil prices are very high. Look elsewhere for fuel oil if you can.

BEWARE!!!!! They charge ridiculous prices for heating oil. We used them because the prior owners of our home did and had no idea how excessive their charges were. We got an insane bill after we'd been out of town with all thermostats off for two of four weeks in the billing period, and I called. I got zero explanation and no adjustment. I called FIVE other heating oil suppliers and each was at least $.60/gallon less than Lawson. Ultimately, we switched to Phillips, service is better, we have more billing options, and our bills have dropped from over $900 per fill to around $509 per fill. Don't use ET Lawson! I still can't believe we used them for over a year and wish we had our thousands back. Pure price gouging...
