BEWARE! Dwyer has been our go-to plumber for many years. Their prices were higher than average, but they have great technicians - skilled, professional, knowledgeable and timely. Their men don't get better. However, today will be the last time I ever use them again. I needed to refinish a wooden top on our master bath vanity. The sink and single faucet needed to be disconnected so the refinisher could sand the top and restain it . I thought $220 was high when they charged me ($150 and $70 service charge) last week to disconnect. Today when they returned, they told me ""according to the book and because the faucet was mine"", it would be $$189 to reinstall the faucet, $288 to reinstall the sink and a $70 service charge - $547 for what would have been a total of 30 minutes work - certainly less than an hour which was how long they were at my house the first time and provided an estimate for other work during that hour. That's two hours, no materials at a total of $767 - or almost $400 an hour! What a dissappointment to know that a local contractor is ready to take advantage whenever they can. I sent them away and now have a refinished vanity with holes to drop the sink and faucet into.
Our A/C went out yesterday due a failsafe being tripped. I contacted Dwyer and they were at our house in an hour (non-emergency). The technician explained everything to me and was dogged in finding the problem, following (and fixing) several smaller problems along the way. I am incredibly suspicious/concerned about quality of work, but the Dwyer technician was superb and alleviated any concerns immediately. The call to the house/diagnostic evaluation was reasonable (about $25 less than other companies). Highly recommend Dwyer for A/C repair.
D A.I called them because of a leaky garbage disposal. While they were courteous and responded with a timely service call, the replacement quote for the installation of a new garbage disposal was over $400 not including the service call charge.
I asked the serviceman why my garbage disposal failed and he said it was likely due to corrosion. The replacement model they carry is the same model with which I had a problem.
Upon further research, I found the badger model I had was known to be a budget model that would corrode after a few years. It was selling for approximately $90 on amazon and Dwyer wanted to charge me over $400 for parts and installation. What expensive labor for a product that will likely leak in a few more years.
I can't recommend a company that overcharges for a bad product that will likely either warp your cabinet flooring and require future service calls.
No thanks.
Carolina L.Thank You!
My 4 year old son threw my engagement ring through the sink and it went down the drain!!!
I called Dwyer plumbing and they sent Luis ASAP, he was at my home in 10 minutes and saved my ring!!! Awesome service!
Just used Dwyer to check on an issue with my HVAC unit that was reported to me by my tenant. Since I wasnt around to check it out, I was a little nervous to have someone to go check it out. Luckily Dwyer Plumbing was on it. I called and someone was dispatched almost immediately. The problem was solved and rate was reasonable. I will be using them again if needed.
So far, so good. A plumber I can trust. I've used their services a few times, and all times I've been very satisfied. The plumber who came to do some work for me was patient, professional, and talked TO you, not AT you. He explained the situation, and wanted to make sure I understood.
I'm going to stick with them for all my plumbing needs. Once you get a good thing, you hope i stays that way.
Expensive, Expensive, Outrageous! I had new countertops put in and they cut out my old sink. Unfortunately there was no shut off values so I was out of water as the main was shut off. I needed it done ASAP. So the guy came and told me that it would be almost the same cost to have a new disposal put in versus using the old one. I said OK. He then gave me over an $800 estimate. For what? An hour of work and a hundred dollar disposal? He then told me that the new faucet wasn't screwed in and wanted $230 more for thirty seconds of work (that's what the book says). It took me 15 mins and 10 was reading the instructions. I had to have water as we hadn't showered in two days so I agreed but told him I would finishing installing the faucet myself. I should of just said get out and took the week off work so I could do it myself, it would have saved me money. But he dropped the $70 charge to come out.
Michael C.I have used Dwyer plumbing for years. They maintained my old air conditioning system until the freon leak worsened to the point that a new system was called for. They were able to replace just the A/C portion of the system for ~$3600 rather than the total system for ~$8000. The new A/C system (a Trane system) is so quiet and efficient. And the house stays cold on the hottest days.
I have also used Dwyer to replace the gas supply hoses to my two gas fireplaces.
Dwyer also replaced the water pressure regulator when the old one started to fail, as manifested by whole-house water hammer. I thought my pipes were going to explode.
So I have been very pleased with Dwyer.
A technician from Dwyer came out to fix my non-functioning water source heat pump. Upon seeing the unit, the technician began to mumble under his breath, ""I've never seen a system like this before,"" and continued to mumble that on and off the entire he was there. I should have told him to leave upon the first utterance. He struggled to get the front cover off the unit. I again should have asked him to leave. He immediately asked for a copy of the manual and spent about 20 minutes reading it. I should have told him to leave. He called his supervisor to ask for advise at least three times during the visit. Again, should have had him leave. Ultimately, the technician spent over three hours at my home trying to diagnose the problem. To his credit, he did correctly identify the issue. However, he was not able to fix it. Additionally, he attempted to charge me a significant fee for ""extended troubleshooting."" I specifically asked when I called to set up the appointment how much the visit would cost -- $79.95. I asked if it was possible there would be additional fees and was told no, not unless they were able to fix the problem in which case the repair and parts would be extra. I contested the ""extended troubleshooting"" charges, and the charges were eventually removed from the invoice.
To top it all off, the technician drained all of refrigerant out of the system. He told me this was necessary so that I could run the fan until the heater/air conditioner were functioning again.
In the end, I had a different company come out to do the repair. That technician was able to diagnose and fix the problem. His entire visit was about two hours. Turns out, I don't have an unusual system. The problem was fairly obvious. And it was not necessary to drain the refrigerant from the system for me to run the fan. I had to pay $258 to have the refrigerant put back in the system. Dwyer Plumbing Inc.: biggest waste of $338 in my life.
My air conditioning unit was low on coolant last year. I contacted Dwyer. A very competentent and friendly technician inspected the unit. He advised against checking the unit for leaks because the test costs $400 and should the leak be in the compressor or the condenser, it cannot be repaired. I was impressed by his honesty in not pushing an expensive and questionable procedure. He recharged the unit with the hope that the leak was small enough to hold the charge for a season or two. Unfortunately, the charge only lasted for that summer. This spring, I called again. The same technician came to look at the unit and this time advised replacing the unit. He provided a quote for the AC alone and for a full system including the furnace. Again, he displayed the same honesty by advising against replacing the furnace at this time and even did not promote a higher efficiency unit. He explained that the extra cost may not be recovered in energy savings for perhaps 10 years or longer. The quoted price was a bit lower than other estimates I had obtained on line. I went ahead with the replacement. Two technicians showed up on time. They performed the installation in about six hours as promised. They were extremely meticulous and the attention to details impressed me. They were also very friendly and easy to talk to. Overall, I was very pleased with the service and price of this company.
