Ben G.I recently used Dwyer Plumbing to service a failed AC system. They were responsive and did the job, but when it came to the bill I couldn't get a straight answer on how they came up with the number. First it was hourly, then a flat fee of $1500 (to replace the circuit board and blower motor -- under warranty), then finally $1100. Even after talking to the service manager twice and the owner once, I couldn't get an answer about hourly rates (if the bill was based on per-hour charges) or average repair times (if the bill was based on fee-per-serivce), and I was told by both the service manager and by the owner that either method of billing was used! When I sent a letter asking for clarification on their billing practices, they threatened to send it to collections.
Dwyer Plumbing seems to be just making up numbers, hiding their true service costs, and hoping consumers won't look too closely at the bill.
My HVAC was shot - as described by one HVAC repair person who quoted me $7000-$10,000 for replacement. Sweater came out 2 hours later, said ""no problem"" to replace, scheduled the work for a week from today, told me about a payment plan, and will charge me $5000. Great customer service so far!
Capacitator on the heat pump gave out on Friday afternoon right before what is supposed to be the hottest weekend of the year. Dwyer got the tech out to us with an hour. He diagnosed the problem quickly and fixed it at a reasonable price. Nice job!
Joan E.I called them to repair a leaky pipe. They did a good job but their pricing is ridiculously high. They nickel and dime you to death. A simple repair that should have cost no more than $100.00-$175.00 cost $400.00. They were told exactly where the leak was but still charged $129.00 ""to find the leak"" then it was an additional $212.00 to fix the pipe in addition to the $69.00 service call. The entire repair took less than an hour. Save your money and use a plumber that won't take advantage of you for a simple leaky pipe repair.
We had a backup in our tub that would not go away, no matter what we tried. Dwyer fixed the problem quickly and charged us a reasonable rate.
They did a fine job of installing a new garbage disposal----but the price, including a disposal that was less than $200 was $770! I'm embarrassed that I let myself get bamboozled that way! Good work----ridiculous price.
I wish there was a zero stars rating. Bad experience after having a brand new HVAC system installed and disappointed with dismissive attitude of company. they charge exorbitant service prices. I had higher expectations when i spent thousands of dollars on the top of the line HVAC system now to have it go out on my wife's birthday and having to pay ""emergency pricing"" on a weekend.
Had a leak in our ceiling and they came out quickly, efficiently and did a great job fixing the problem. Workmanship was excellent the bill was OUTRAGEOUS! They charged $300.00 per hour for the work. job took four hours and was billed over $1200.00.. much more than reasonable for the work that was done. Unfortunately I had no idea what their fees were, guess my fault. Just be careful. great work but not sure the price was fair.
Cathleen Doran B.I called Dwyer two weeks ago because my toilet was running. I thought it was just a ""flapper"" issue. They took apart my toilet and told me it was a ""flush valve"" issue and had to order a toilet specific part for $350.00. The day after they left, my laundry room was flooded. Apparently there is a leak in the hose from the wall to my toilet. I don't blame them as they turned the valve off, but it would have been nice of them to mention that water was still dripping from the line. It has been two weeks and I haven't heard from them. I just called Dwyer and the receptionist said that she called the parts department to ask them to investigate what happened to the part on order. So, now I have to wait for her to call me back. I feel like I'm back at square one. I'm not a happy customer. :(
BEWARE! Dwyer has been our go-to plumber for many years. Their prices were higher than average, but they have great technicians - skilled, professional, knowledgeable and timely. Their men don't get better. However, today will be the last time I ever use them again. I needed to refinish a wooden top on our master bath vanity. The sink and single faucet needed to be disconnected so the refinisher could sand the top and restain it . I thought $220 was high when they charged me ($150 and $70 service charge) last week to disconnect. Today when they returned, they told me ""according to the book and because the faucet was mine"", it would be $$189 to reinstall the faucet, $288 to reinstall the sink and a $70 service charge - $547 for what would have been a total of 30 minutes work - certainly less than an hour which was how long they were at my house the first time and provided an estimate for other work during that hour. That's two hours, no materials at a total of $767 - or almost $400 an hour! What a dissappointment to know that a local contractor is ready to take advantage whenever they can. I sent them away and now have a refinished vanity with holes to drop the sink and faucet into.
