Jay N. was very professional in the way he presented the work that needed to be done. He explained to us in simple terms would happen if did or didn't do the work. When he needed extra employees, he introduced them to us and they were approachable. Thank you for the good work..

Simple: highway robbery.

Their prices are so far above any reasonable amount, I cannot believe people continue to use them. You are NOT getting what you pay for. Unless they are using NASA engineers, solid gold pipes, diamond studded fittings, washers cut from rich Corinthian leather, and guaranteeing it for the life of your children's children's children.

I called for a kitchen trap replacement. His first verbal estimate was ""around $500"". After I was told I need a new water heater and a whole house filtration system (can't help but laugh at that), I was given an official estimate of $750 for just the trap replacement. I said, ""Thanks, I'll be in touch.""

I called Oaks Drain who did the trap replacement and even ran a snake in our slow-draining bathtub, for a total of $180.

I had to eat the Dutton service call minimum ($69), which is why I'm taking the time to write this. They probably figure $69 is enough to send guys around making outrageous quotes and maybe land a few jobs because people are either ignorant or desperate. In other words, their business model is taking advantage of people. Isn't that nice.

Don't waste your time or money.

We thought they were really nice at first, but when the repair didn't work, we called someone else. Turned out they gave us an outdated part...5 years old and charged us $500. Total rip off. Go elsewhere.

Called Thursday to have a clogged drain cleared. Was told there were openings Friday morning and a tech would call to let me know when they would arrive. The tech called Friday morning and said he could not come until Tuesday of next week. Dutton's ads say ""Available 24/7,"" ""Same Day Service,"" ""60 Minute Service."" False advertising in my opinion so even one star is too much.....

My experience with these simi valley dutton guys is similar to the experience another yelper by the name of Jennifer B had. It is truly one of the worst experiences I have had with any business in my life, and I would like to add that I am not writing this review out of rage or spite. Our interaction occurred about a year ago so we have many months to think this through.

We are a young couple and, a year ago, we were just settling into our new home with a newborn (premature) baby in tow. We were tired first time parents who stumbled across a very unethical and dishonest business who wanted nothing more than to take advantage of first time parents who were drained, tired, and in and out of hospital.

We had a blockage and I called Dutton at around 2PM on a Tuesday (I was on maternity leave). Water would not drain properly and our bathtub kept getting filled up with water any time we showered or flushed the toilets. A young employee arrived at around 5PM and after an inspection, mentioned that it was a simple blockage and can use the snake. All of the sudden, he gets on the phone. Immediately after hanging up he tells us that his supervisor will be coming to the house to help and inspect the situation himself. That's when I thought ""uh oh"". I don't know why but I didn't like the sound of that - just had a bad feeling. In retrospect, I tell you my gut feeling was right.

Once this supervisor (""he who shall not be named"") arrived, everything changed. All of the sudden, the snake would not work because it was way too far and the clean-out in my front lawn could not be found. They used the clean-out at the side of the house, but closer to the backyard. That's when all the dramatic acting began. They stuck the snake in there with a video camera and called us to go see what was happening. The snake obviously made a noise as it was penetrating the whole house and into the front yard, and they said it was sooooooo blocked. They showed us a few leaves (which looked like gigantic rocks) in the video and that's when ""he who shall not be named"" started pitching the the sales pitch of his life. To paraphrase: ""M'AM...SIR... YOUR HOUSE IS ABOUT TO BE DESTROYED, IT'S IMPERATIVE THAT YOU TAKE ACTION NOW OR YOU WILL DROWN BY TOMORROW AFTERNOON. IT'S A CATASTROPHE.""

At this point we were freaking out. I just wanted it fixed and fixed right away. I needed him to come back with the numbers. And so he did. To my surprise, he told me it would cost around $10,000 because i would need a whole new sewer system. To be exact, his estimate was $10,800 and read as follows: ""From Curb Latteral To House Install 4"" Sewer Piping Pulled Through Existing Line, Backfill Hand Rake No Landscaping Or Concrete Chopping Or Replacement. Dutton Plumbing is not responsible for any landscaping."" My jaw dropped. LOL. I was expecting it to be a little high, but really? Ten thousand freaking dollars? We told them we would have to think about it, and ""he who shall not be named"" resorted to plan B. ""OK M'AM AND SIR, BUT SINCE YOUR HOUSE IS ABOUT TO EXPLODE LITERALLY TOMORROW, WE REALLY NEED TO DO SOMETHING. JUST GIVE US AROUND $2000 AND WE'LL START A TEMPORARY FIX AND USE IT TOWARDS THE BIG JOB."" Also paraphrasing here, but that was the gist of it and the numbers are correct. He wanted us to make a hasty decision, put money into it so then we have to continue the job with them. I inquired why it wouldn't be more efficient to try and locate the front yard clean-out. After all, I could get someone to dig it up for a fraction of the big cost. But no, they said there was no time. So we rejected their estimate and told him we were going to get more estimates. They left my house, a little grouchy, but they left. It was like 8PM by then. Ooops!

That night, I called another company. They came out the next day, were able to locate the front yard clean-out, and used the snake to unblock the pipes for, if I remember correctly, no more than $200. They also used a video and told me it was NOT a big catastrophe and I would NOT have to replace the whole piping system. There was a root blocking a small section. But the main problem were 2 non-flushable baby wipes that had been flushed down the toilet. So yes, we could have been taken advantage of by these rotten so called plumbing experts at dutton. My house is still fine to this day, no catastrophe occurred, and my pipes are draining properly to this day. We called late and it was almost the end of the month, so I think this salesperson was trying to meet his quota and saw an opportunity. I can see this type of behavior and sales pitch working on older people or inexperienced people, and I feel sorry for anyone who has been preyed on in the past and might become prey in the future. I am just sorry I didn't write this review earlier. If i can just deter one person from contacting these scam artists, then I've contributed positively to society.

Matt was friendly & knowledgeable and did fine work but the price was ridiculously high. It cost $375 to fix an exposed PVC pipe. Probably about $1-$2 in material and 1/2 hour work. Would not recommend Dutton to anybody.

Dutton plumbing came to our home to replace a bathroom faucet. When they presented us with the bill it was for $675.00. We provided them with the faucet, which we had purchased at Costco. So to replace a bathroom faucet it cost us nearly $1000. They also wanted to snake our drains for $79.00 each. I bought a plastic drain snake at Home Depot for 10 dollars and snaked three drains for the cost of $3.33 each.

They would not tell me how much it would cost to replace the bathroom faucet before they did the work. They said nothing on the phone about how much they charged aside from the drain clearing special. When the plumber was here, he looked for other jobs to do that would keep him busy.

Avoid this company or be prepared to pay through the roof.

Called for a repair of 2 leaky faucets. Cartridge style Moen. All work done above the sinks. Parts cost less than $80. Plummer showed up found additional work to be done in excess of $2000.

I am waiting to hear from his supervisors as to why I dismissed him from the job.

This is not a good business model to follow in 2017. The plumbers working for Dutton can start their own business and undercut Dutton and still make a fair profit.

The service we received was wonderful. Dutton responded immediately to our emergency. The men who worked were respectful .
However I feel the cost was way too much for the job at hand.

Steve C. showed up promptly to check on a leaking hot water heater. He was personally very pleasant and courteous -- if this review were about him alone it would certainly be a 5-star review. However, Dutton's technicians are not the ones who set repair prices -- they come off a tablet -- and the price I was quoted to replace the water heater was nearly double the price of another plumbing firm that has over 350 5-star reviews on Yelp. Dutton's prices seem to be -- if you'll pardon the expression -- a total rip-off.
