Great, small shop. Fair pricing and excellent plumbers. They know Takoma very well and and were great.

Adam came to our house to replace our galvanized water lines. The project ended up being more challenging than was initially expected, but Adam worked diligently through the weekend, explained everything he was doing and why he was doing it, and kept our house as clean as possible while doing the work.

If we need more professional plumbing done, we'll use them again.

Mr. Durance came early for his appointment to fix my toilet. He explained that this job is too small for him to send any of his subordinates, since he pays them well. He takes the small jobs himself. He immediately identified the problem (ancient toilet requires special part available only at thus-and-such hardware store and he'll pick up the part himself), and within two hours we have a working toilet. I don't know of another plumber who would tie himself up for two hours and charge less than $180 including parts and gas. I've used him before and expect to use him again.

I was getting reminders from WSSC about backflow prevention testing. Turns out I have a non testable device and the part needs to be replaced every 5 years. It had come up on our home inspection but I had forgotten to get it taken cared of. I consulted the list on WSSC site for approved companies to work with and selected a competitor. That competitor was mostly responsive but did not have the part with them and gave me a very high quote to replace.

I read the reviews here on Yelp and decided to reach out to Durance. Not five minutes after leaving a voicemail, I got a call back and an appointment on the day I had chosen. I got a follow up reminder the day before and the gentleman, didn't catch his name, appeared bright and early and got right to work. He told me what needed to be done and the amount the part would cost and got right to it. He even took a quick look at a leaky bath faucet I had and suggested the part be replaced- even suggested I try to contact the manufacturer in case they could replace it for me as it would be costly. I didn't follow up on that but did appreciate the diagnosis and tip.

I left for work but my husband told me the part was tagged and an invoice was left so that I would be all set if the WSSC came after me again! I'm pretty sure they even contacted WSSC for me but I wasn't there so I am not 100% certain. All I can say is I am extremely pleased with the customer service- prompt and professional and got the job done in one visit for a fraction of the cost the competitor was trying to squeeze out of me. Kirk Durance is fabulous. He is calm, reliable, knowledgeable, capable, courteous, professional, and reasonably priced. I feel fortunate to have him available to me. He has fixed a variety of plumbing problems at my house, including a recent one that had stumped a number of other ""experts."" He has replaced fixtures, connected appliances, and unclogged drains. I no longer feel a sense of impending doom at the phrase, ""Call a plumber."" Kirk takes the anxiety out of plumbing.

I recommend them very highly. The owner answered the phone himself when I called after five on a weekday & came out himself the following morning. He did the work (replace garbage disposal and fix a leaking pipe) expertly and quickly. He was also very helpful and knowledgeable in answering various questions I asked about water heaters, sump pumps, etc. He didn't even try to push me into replacing my 16-year-old water heater soon, which he could have easily done, but gave me a thoughtful summary of what to consider in making the decision. He was unusually fastidious about cleaning up after himself and extremely pleasant to deal with. I'll be happy to use him again.

I had a wonderful experience with Durance Plumbing. I recently purchased a condo and one of the tubs was completely blocked. Adam was timely and friendly. He snaked the drain and retrieved the surgical glove which was causing the blockage. I would recommend this company to a friend.

Such a wonderful experience! When we first moved to the area, we needed an estimate for a project and the big name company was trying to repair more than was needed and charge as much as possible. We called Durance (along with several other plumbing companies) for assistance with a clogged kitchen sink/garbage disposal. We didn't even get a call back from other companies. When Durance called back they explained they were very busy, but would get someone out to us. A call back goes a long way!! When Adam came to fix our sink he was so kind, empathetic of the fact that we have newborn babies at home, and worked quickly with integrity and efficiency! He didn't try to repair more than what was needed, charged a very reasonable price, and even gave us avery fair estimate on another project we will want completed in the near future. I HIGHLY recommend Durance Plumbing!

Stop looking. Durrance Plumbing is the one! After years of searching--finally--I found someone who knows what he's doing! Kirk came out quickly. Arrived when he said he would. He's prompt, courteous, friendly--in short, a real pleasure to work with. He solved two shower faucet issues (that, I'm guessing were somewhat straightforward) that perplexed others. And all of this at fair, reasonable prices. I can't recommend him strongly enough. I will definitely use him again.
