I want to make sure I left a review for Dunn Rite Heating & Air. I've had some of the worst experiences with other HVAC companies sent out by my insurance company, and I'll be honest I was really stressed out not really knowing what to expect with this company.

I was so happy with their service. Their tech was on time, and ready. He listened to my problem and was able to diagnose the issue within a few minutes. He was prepared with the parts to repair my AC and had my AC fixed in no time at all.

I was so happy, I immediately called my husband and my mom to tell them how quick and efficient they were and our AC was up and running again.

Thank you guys so much for helping out!

I see a lot of negative reviews for this company, but you have to give them the benefit of the doubt. Dunn Rite Heating and Air was assigned to us for our AC problem (wasn't cooling enough) by our home warranty company. Rich came initially to diagnose and he was very professional and respectful. As it turned out, it was low on refrigerant. He then refilled the refrigerant and also added a leak sealant hoping that would fix the problem. It was great, air was cool and we were really hoping that took care of it. Four days later we noticed that that the air started to get warm again, so I submitted another service request to the home warranty company. Dunn Rite called me the next business day and scheduled an appointment for the technician to come next morning. Rich came along with Doug and did a more comprehensive diagnostic. It turns out that the problem was the evaporator coil located in the attic. We were advised that it could take 2 weeks before the home warranty approval and parts to arrive. So far we are happy with their service. They seem to know what's going on and I trust that they will get the job done right when they return. My only hope is that they will return sooner to finally getting it up and running again as the weather has been so hot lately. I will post an update once the work has been completed.

Update: 11/02/23 - Rich came with the new evaporator coil as scheduled and did an amazing job with the installation. He worked diligently for over 5 hours in our very small attic, very respectful and professional as previously stated. Our AC unit is now working like new and we couldn't be happier with the final outcome. Also, Janet was kind enough to give us a little bit of discount on items that were not covered by the home warranty company. I would definitely recommend Dunn Rite Heating and Air!

Please reconsider choosing Dunn-Rite. The company needs to be more helpful in providing services on heating & air conditioning issues. I had to call three times from my home warranty that my A/C turns on and off, and nothing has been ""Dunn-Rite"". I called Home Depot and the Home Depot techs came in and actually checked and observed my A/C issues, and answered all of my questions. They also installed an air filter, and my A/C began to work. AVOID this place at all costs. The standards and values of this company are absent.

If you get a technician named Jay- GOOD LUCK, Orange County. The guy seems like he does not want to work for Dunn-Rite. His attitude is flat and dismisses questions and concerns. The guy needs a vacation or therapy.

If I could leave less than zero stars I would.
I would imagine if you're reading this review you've probably been guided by your home warranty company to use Dunn Rite's services. I can't imagine anyone in the right mind would willingly choose this company.

They are almost impossible to get a hold of and the technician's are very unprofessional and have no idea what they're doing.

Should re-brand as ""Dunn- Wrong"" because everything from customer service, professionalism, and ""work"" has been a disaster.

I would advise you call your home warranty and request a different company for your services. Save yourself the frustration and waste of time.

Hope this review helps.

I will add to the list of growing disgruntled home owners that had a terrible experience with Dunn Rite. Same as everyone else, we were forced to use Dunn Rite by our Home warranty, when AC unit stopped working.

First the tech changed out the blower fan. System operated for 15 minutes before shutting off. Of course the tech left and we had to call again. The 2nd trip they had to replace the motherboard. Again it worked for 15 minutes, tech left. Called for a third time & apparently the the newly installed motherboard was defective. Fourth trip the reinstalled new motherboard.

7 months later, the AC unit stopped working. I called their competitor, NextGen, and their tech quickly informed me its another bad board.

Finally I called Dunn Rite, only to be told the boards only have a 30 day warranty & im SOL.
No Accountability what so ever.

Update: in response to the business owner's comments below, Your reply is inaccurate. We will let the reviews speak for themselves.

I don't like giving a bad review: however, I want to spare another family from going through what we dud.

We purchased a new condenser from this company in 2018. They did not recommend the replacement of the evaporator coil which is industry standard. I didn't know that until five years later when the copper piping was eaten through and the condenser stopped working due to the failure to replace the coil which required the use of incompatible freon. Now, I must replace both the coil and the condenser. If the right equipment was used, it should have lasted 10 years, plus.

Lastly, they did not inspect the air ducts, which isn't a requirement when installing new equipment BUT just good practice.

Frustrating but lessen learned.

Dunn-Rite was sent to us through AHS.

Our AC unit stopped blowing cool air. Jay came out and wasn't able to answer any of my questions. He refilled the coolant knowing it will leak. He mentioned he has to attempt to fix the unit for home insurance purposes. We all knew it would leak but he assured us the $400 we spent to refill will be put towards a replacement unit.

As predicted the coolant leaked. Brandon was sent to find the leak but instead proceeded to fix the unit. He shut off some valve and assured me we wouldn't have anymore issues. I however was certain our problems weren't solved.

Again as predicted the AC didn't blow out cool air. Jay shows up again confused to why he was here, stating he can't do anything. He told the home insurance they can't fix the problem. (All they needed to do was replace the units).

I tried to contact them about the $400, no response.

Starlight Heating and Air came through and replaced both units.

Do not use Dunn-Rite unless you have a simple task for them.

I had a good experience with Doug of Dunn Rite. He is an expert and can diagnose your issues over the phone. Dunn Rite is super busy year round because they do excellent, quality work.

They should rename their company Dunn Wrong, they are rude, disrespectful and should get customer service training if they want to stay in business. My a/c went out in this summer heat and I have a newborn grandson at home that had surgery. Everyone knows that newborn babies and elderly (me) if overheated can die, so I called my home warranty and and told them it was urgent, the next day dunn rite called and the rudeness began, they said earliest appt in one week, I begged them to come sooner for the baby's sake, they lacked any care or compassion, I agreed to take the appointment . So i used a window a/c unit to keep the baby cool and bought a bunch of fans for the rest of the house. I took off work for the appointment and waited for a 4 hour window i contacted them to see if they were on their way and they said they came two hours earlier and left. They said the technician saw all the cars in the driveway and knew someone was home and heard the dog barking as he knocked. I did answer the door when I heard the dog barking and no one was there. When I said that I took off work to wait for them, and they should have called me from the front door, they said I should have answered the door and said they sent a text 20 minutes prior to arrival, I didn't see the text until after they told me about it and it was a weird area code and said hey Harry so I thought it was something for my husband when I later looked. They were so rude and refused to give me their names or let me talk to a supervisor, I asked them to come back out today as it was urgent, they offered to come the next day but I can't take off work again, and I told them that I work in business and I would never be so rude to customers and they should be nicer to people and they said they weren't going to let me tell them how to run their business and hung up. I called the home warranty company and the home warranty company called them and they wouldn't answer them either and the home warranty said the contractor cancelled my service order. So Dunn rite doesn't care about people , in southern california where it is hot and people really desperately need their a/c to work. I urged the home warranty company to remove them from their list of contractors because they have many bad reviews. I really hope they take this review to heart and get customer service training and try to provide excellent service. I hope the owner Doug reads this, I don't do business with companies that don't even have decent manners. Why would anyone do business with anyone that is mean to them? They may have good technical skills but I won't find out, can't get past the office staff. If they had not been so rude and talk back and sassy like a little kid, then maybe I would have given them a chance to come back tommorrow, but instead they get a bad review, I also look for the good in people and rarely give a bad review but the office staff deserve it.
