I have never experienced such disastrous service as I have with this place. Add my review to the list of people that had to use them through First American Home Warranty. So, heater won't give off heat. Doug comes out and tells me I need a new gas valve, after repeated attempts to get me to buy a new heater. Takes my service fee, says he'll return in about 3 days with the part. 10 days later, still no word. Call them, and after 3 unanswered calls, a woman service rep answers and says part should arrive Monday-they will come out Wednesday between 8-12. Wednesday at 11:48, Doug calls and says he can't make it till 5-5:30. I've already missed work. Doug then doesn't show up at all, no answer on any of their phone numbers. After 4 unanswered phone calls (NOBODY ever picks up the phone there), I call First American. Somebody at FA gets the owner on the phone, who says they'll come Monday between 9-10 to resolve the issue. NOBODY SHOWS UP AGAIN, NO PHONE CALL!!! Call the receptionist and she puts me on hold for 20 minutes. I hang up and call FA. They are dispatching their contract associate to investigate. And still, I have no heat today and my service fee is still out there (maybe its paying off a bookie or something). I'm a Republican who supports small business, but these guys need to be shut down.

WARNING: you have many choices for heating and plumbing. This should never EVER be one of your choices.

NOTE: I also gave a terrible review to First American Home Warranty. They sent us bad vendors all year, and this was the absolute worst.

My home warranty company, First American Home Buyers Protection Corporation, assigned Dunn-Rite Heating for the repair on my heater. After reading many reviews, I checked with the California State Contractor's Licensing Board and found their license to be in a current state of suspension. I, too, had problems getting a hold of anybody directly there, as the phone always goes to voicemail. I called back the home warranty company, who assigned another company that was currently licensed and bonded. Dunn-Rite Heating's California State Contractor's License number is 845225. You can check out their license status at the California State Contractor's Licensing Board website. Their status as of today is suspended. BUYER BEWARE!!!

Should be called Dunn Wrong! Our furnace had a gas leak...the Dunn RIght ""technician"" didn't even turn it on or inspect it but said he needed to order a part and he would be back in a few days to install it. NOT! After numerous unanswered calls to Dunn Rite we had to call First American Home Warranty daily for 3 weeks....every time, they would call Dunn RIte and he would tell them he would be out the next day. Then we never hear from him. So after 3 weeks of this, he finally shows up but now it turns out that wasn't the only thing wrong with the heater -- there was a crack which he should have seen if he would have actually looked at our furnace. So he takes the part with the crack and never shows up again. We ended up having to pay for an entirely new furnace thanks to this crook and are now fighting with First American to get reimbursed.

Do not let your home warranty company force you to use this company -- demand they send out a different company. There's a reason this company has an ""F"" rating with the BBB!

Like many other Yelpers, I was assigned to Dunn-Rite through First American Home Warranty.

We made an appointment, which they were on time for, and they checked out my failing AC unit. Doug told me that the compressor was broken (which is what a friend who works in AC had also told me), and that he would put in the report with First American and that a new AC unit should be covered and paid for.

We set an appointment to install the new unit that First American is paying for. Doug calls to let me know that First American can't pay for the unit after all, because it's not covered in my warranty. I ask him what the options are, he says I can choose to pay for a new compressor or to purchase a new unit. The difference in price was pretty slim, so I choose to go with the new unit over a replacement part in an old unit. So we make the appointment. He calls the day of the appointment and says that he can get to the appointment earlier, I on the other hand cannot get there earlier since I am working. So I tell him the earliest I can get there and that I can meet him there. On the way to my home from work, I call First American to find out why this isn't covered, and they say it should be covered, explain some mumbo jumbo and say they they can send another AC company out. At this point, Dunn-Rite is already at my home.

I get home, and Doug and another guy are on my roof almost done with the install. This rubs me the wrong way, because I did not get to witness any of the install. I tell them that First American said my unit should be paid for, so why did he tell me that it won't be. He gets on the phone with a ""tech"" from First American, who he then puts me on the phone with. I try to poke and prod this guy for every clue that they are trying to pull a fast one on me and I come up with nothing.

I end up having to pay for the unit out my pocket. Doug throws in an additional 3 year warranty, that he says he will mail to me. This was in early May, it is now almost September and I have yet to receive this warranty. I have called at least a dozen times, left voice mails and have actually talked to him, and still nothing.

I didn't feel comfortable dealing with them, I don't feel that he was completely honest with me and I wouldn't recommend this ""company"" to anyone E-V-E-R.

Had to use them through my home warranty. At first I was freaked out bec. of all the negative reviews. But had to use them.

So Sun, blower motor burned out. Called Home Warranty. Said Dunn Rite would call by Tuesday at the latest. Now, I'm going out of town Thurs. So absolutely needed to get them out to do diagnostic. If they're calling Monday, won't be able to come out Tues or Wed. So I pre-emptively called them. Oh, the girls are out to lunch. Called again. We'll call you between 4 and 6. That's when we set up appts. We have appts available. Did not call.

I called at 6:40, just on the off-chance somebody would pick up. They did. I said you said you'd call and you didn't. I'm about to leave, but you said you'd call. Okay. Set appt for Tues. Doug comes out and diagnses blown blow motor. Ok. Took blow motor assembly, will replace engine and call you to set up appt to put it back in.

Thurs, called and said blower motor is ready. Set up appt for next Tuesday. Showed up around 4:15. Replaced blower motor and have had a/c so far. $60 for ""co-pay"", and we're good.

Doug was professional and got the job done. Customer service on telephone needs a little help. But you know it's pretty hot out there and these guys are super busy.

So for all the people who had a horrendous time, I'm truly sorry.

I had to use this company through my home warranty (First American) for my furnace. They replaced the system board part and told us it would have cost us about $1,100 for that part if we had to replace it ourselves (not under our home warranty). This fixed the problem the first winter we had our home. The next winter (after renewing our warranty another year) our furnace went out again. The warranty company sent out a sub-contractor from a different company this time.

A different part was replced this time (the transformer) but only because the fuse that was installed the previous time we had it worked on was too high. This winter we ran the furnance, the transformer burned out because the fuse installed was a 15 volt fuse and should not have been any higher than a 3 or 5 volt. The new company replaced the transformer and fuse (with the lower volt). I mentioned to the technitian that the system board was replaced the previous winter by Dunn Rite and they put in the 15 volt fuse at that time. I also told him that the Dunn Rite technitian told us how much that system board would have cost us if we replaced it ourselves not under warranty and he gaspted! He said the system board would only cost about $250 if we had to pay for it ourselves! So Dunn Rite lied to us!!!! Not only did they lie about the cost of the part, but they replaced the fuse with a ridiculously too high voltage which caused the transformer to blow out and be replaced!!! Wow, their work was not ""done right"" AT ALL.

UNETHICAL!
UNPROFESSIONAL
INCAPABLE

We recently purchased our home and it is cover for 1 year warranty through FIRST AMERICAN HOME BUYERS INSURANCE. Half a year later, our heating unit does not work properly. Called the insurance and rightfully, they sent out a technician. The first two companies tried in earnest and could not fix the problem, then they call DUNN RITE. The first appointment was missed, got a cell phone from the insurance company, can only speculate that the person answering cell phone was the technician himself but played it off so he doesn't have to address the issue. Doug/owner/technician finally came out and for the appointment without tools and lied to the insurance company about his findings. The part he claims faulty was a part not covered by the insurance company. Now, at this point the claim is closed and the insurance company will not pay to figure out or fix the problem.

I will have to pay out of my own pocket to get a knowledgeable technician to dispute his lie.

Dunn Rite is incapable of any real repairs and will make anything up.

Better Business Bureau rated D for a reason.

I've read all previous reviews and can sympathize with their plight as it sounds very similar to my own.

Quick & Dirty: THESE GUYS SUCK!!!!! I wouldn't use them again if you paid me. DON'T USE THIS COMPANY!!!!

Long & INFURIATING:

If I could give negative stars I would...

I'm not going to go on a rant (although I could go on forever) about how bad these guys are. I won't tell you about how they flat out LIED to my home warranty company, not once, but TWICE, and got CAUGHT!!!

I WILL tell you that they were late to all their appointments, rescheduled an appointment, and when they finally DID show up they were totally unprofessional. Trying to get them on the phone was close to impossible. I'm AMAZED that my home warranty company even uses this business, but that's a whole other Yelp.

If you can avoid Dunn Rite then you should at all costs! Their techs are flat out awful and the owner doesn't know much about customer service.

Would I use them again? HELL to the NO!!!

Should you use them? Absolutely NOT!!!!

Worst service company ever dealt with - rude , unprofessional and didn't do the job.

From yelp, I realized Iam not the first one who experienced issues with this company(unfortunately after the fact).

We got ""Dunn Rite Plumbing Heating and Air"" (714-534-2800) through our home warranty company.
I need to tell that the warranty company is super nice in taking care of the claims.

-Basically the Central AC wasn't cooling some of the rooms at all even if we have it turned ""ON"" for many hours. So we reported to our Home Warranty company who contacted ""Dunn Rite Plumbing Heating and Air"" the local servicing company.
-Warranty company had to do couple of faxes and Voicemails with the work order and ""Dunn Rite"" never called back to set up an appointment. Finally we called ""Dunn Rite"" and they acknowledged they received the work order.
-Finally they showed up after 5 days of reporting the issue.
-We had just done our floors and we were not supposed to use shoes on them until it fully dries, so we asked the ""Dunn Rite contractor"" to remove his shoes or put on the shoe guard we gave him. Also my son had dust allergy so we never use outside shoes inside the house.
-""Dunn Rite contractor"" wouldn't remove his shoes or put on a shoe guard we gave him. He started behaving weird from that time.
-With in 5 minutes he said everything is working. And we said it is not cooling and asked him to compare with the other rooms where it is cooling.
-Then he started saying we have to have the AC ON overnight for the house to cool. First time Iam hearing that kind of stuff(and for my friend next door with the same floor plan, it cools in 20-30 mnts).
-So we asked him if he would wait and see if the temperature is coming down.He said he doesn't have time to wait to see if the temperature comes down. So Iam not sure why he even showed up.His job was to make sure the AC works and that temperature comes down with AC on.
-Then he started making claims like the room is too big and so we need to install another unit for it to cool down. Basically he was trying to get a big job.
-Then we said our friend lives next door and it cools for them in 30 minutes.
-Then he said that might be a smaller room. So we said it is the same floor plan.
-Then he started asking whether it is same square footage, same number of rooms, same number of floors etc and we said yes to all of them because it was the same floor plan property built by same builder. He kept asking those kind of questions even after we said it is the exact same floor plan/square footage.
Then he just left the place telling he does't want to argue with us.He was so wild. No paperwork ,nothing.
Basically it looked like he had another appointment to get to and he didn't want to wait and see if the temperature is coming down or to fix the issue we reported.

I haven't seen any one so unprofessional or atleast not trying to do their work.

Only my wife and 1 year old was at home and with these kind of people I am now even worried about calling any service people to the house when my wife and kid are alone at home.
Beware of this company ""Dunn Rite Plumbing Heating and Air"". They should change their name to ""Do Nothing Plumbing Heating and Air with Rip Off""
They are examples of what a service company should be not - unprofessional, unethical and rude.

Now my warranty company is waiting for a report from this company to take the next steps.

WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE EVER!!!!!!!

I am only picking 1 star because I think I have to pick something. However, they don't even deserve the one I gave them. The only reason I am dealing w/ this company at all is because we have a home warrenty package and that is who they send.

Most of the technicians that come out to the house are nice, but the office staff is HORRIBLE!!!!! We have had to have them come out a few times in the past year to fix the a/c and heater and EVERYTIME I need them to come out I have to leave like 4-7 messages and eventually just get lucky and catch them actually answering the phone to get anything done. They have NEVER returned one of my phone calls. On average it takes me about a month each time I need something done to actually get a hold of them and get them out here. SUPER frustrating when we live in SoCal and your a/c is out!!!!

I would NEVER recommend this company to anyone!
