Getting a plumber on the Southside of Chicago is practically impossible. After calling many places they were the first to accept. I called on Wednesday morning and made an appointment to check my tub that was leaking and they said they could come the next day and we set a time. The next day they call me 15 minutes before he's supposed to be at my condo to say they're cancelling. I ask why and he says because they're booked up. I ask how they could be booked when I made an appointment? and he responds with ""we checked our logs and we have a bunch of people ahead of you"". I honestly don't even know what that means. How did you not ""check you logs"" when I made the appointment? As I said I made the appointment in the morning, so at no point during the ENTIRE day did you ""check you logs"" to see if the appointment was available, after you guaranteed me a time? Sounds like a load of bs to me. He also said if I couldn't find another plumber to call them back. I guarantee you, even if I don't find another plumber, I will not be calling back. So take that how you want, they seem to be very unorganized and unprofessional to say the least.

Dunbar and his crew are INCREDIBLE!!! He is prompt and very professional. As a female, it can be difficult working with contractors who try to take advantage of you. Dunbar and his staff were uniformed, professional and CLEAN! My laundry sink was backing up and pushing water back into the washing machine. Dunbar and his crew came through the entrance closest to the basement (I appreciated that because I'm crazy about shoes on my hardwood floors) and before they went any further, they all put booties over their shoes. This was also greatly appreciated because I have light colored carpet in my basement. Once Dunbar figured out the issue with the sink, he laid throws down from my back door, down the basement stairs, the basement carpet all the way to the laundry room before he went to get the rodder so he wouldn't dirty/contaminate the carpet. He blew the lines out and covered himself while he did that so if anything splashed up from the sink, it wouldn't be all over the walls and floor. The sink was still draining slower than either of us liked so he rodded the line. One of the pipes were old, I'm sure it's been there since the house was built, and he replaced that pipe to prevent any future problems. Once everything was done, I sent the washing machine through a rinse cycle to see how quickly the water was draining from the sink and to make sure it was no longer backing up into the machine. Dunbar was patient, answered alllll my questions, wiped the sink down and swept the floors before he left. They even picked up the heavy rodder vs slamming the thing stair by stair up and down my basement. Prices definitely can't be beat and for the work he did and how he went above and beyond, no plumbers crack showing, no odors, booties, throw covers for floors, clean up, and NOBODY asked ""can I use your bathroom""- I will be using Dunbar and his team for any plumbing issue I run into.

I woke up to a burst pipe and called at least a dozen plumbers. I got in touch with Mr. Dunbar, he gave me a two hour window and arrived on time. He quickly found the problem, gave me a price and repaired the pipe all in about 30 minutes. He and his associate were courteous, did a great job and told me what to do in the future. I'll definitely contact him for future work.

I rarely leave negative reviews but this one had me really upset. I called Dunbar when In discovered a leak in my house. To my surprise and delight they could send someone there in the next few hours. I left work early, hurried home, and was there 30mins before the scheduled 4-5pm window to tidy up a bit. During cleaning Dunbar called to say they were en route and about 2 min later they called to say they were there but I missed the calls (as my phone was on silent from work) but I do have a working doorbell. I called them about 15 mins after they called me and no answer, I waited and waited. Called, texted and said I was home and no one knocked or rang the doorbell. No response, no call back, nothing! We have a ""smart doorbell"" and I reviewed the video footage and you see a guy walk up to the door, doesn't knock, doesn't ring the doorbell, puts something on the door and leaves. I opened the door and it was a business card. Seriously? I called and/or texted at least 15 times and no response. Pretty rude. At least say I'm not coming-- I was still within the 4-5pm window. And honestly, leaving your business card? I would never call or recommend your business to anyone. You can't even return a call? No way. Hired Clear Water Plumbing instead and so far so good.

Dunbar's, Mr. Dunbar replaced a toilet flange and shut-off connection for my bathroom toilet. He responded to my call within thirty minutes and was at my father's home within the hour time frame.

Mr. Dunbar called me upon arriving and assessed the problem and provided photos from start to finish.His price was fair and I was pleased with his work and professionalism. He also travels throughout the the city.

I have found my plumber!

On a scale from 1-10, I give Dunbar Plumbing a 10+!

I hired Dunbar's to install a new water heater. They did a good job. A year later, I was smelling sewer gas and called Dunbar. They came over within an hour, told me the only problem was that I needed to clean out my catch-basin. They said they could do it for me for $300 or he could show me how to do it myself. I also had him look at my shower drain, which was clogged. He instructed me how to clean this out as well. I tried to pay them for their time, but they refused. I guess I'll be calling Dunbar the next time I need plumbing work done.

Called Dunbar on Sunday and said they would arrive at my building between 8:30 and 9 Monday. Was outside shoveling during that time period and he said he called 3 times. Never had a missed phoned call never saw his van. Called him 30 minutes after the scheduled window and told me he would have someone there in next 30 minutes and no one arrived or called.

Well on the 3rd coldest day this year, we found ourselves in need of emergency plumbing services. They answered the phone immediately, made it to my home within half hour, and had the job done in under an hour. All the while my twin toddlers were upstairs sleeping and no clue that there was a busted pipe behind the fridge and water spewing all over the kitchen! Kids woke up from their nap and were able to have lunch and resume their terrozing the house as usual. Mr Dunbar said he would send someone back to patch the hole behind the fridge. Even if that doesn't happen my review won't change. I was pleased, would use this company again, and also recommend to family/friends!

I'm very happy with them after my first experience today! They arrived when they said they would, which was about 90 minutes after I called. They diagnosed and fixed the toilet problem quickly. Angelo and Dwayne were awesome: knowledgeable, careful, neat, respectful, pleasant. Couldn't ask for more. Thanks, guys!

When my husband left on a 3 week business trip, I jokingly said I hope nothing breaks while you're gone. Five days later the sump pump goes out ...after asking if anyone I know can recommend a plumber...I hopped on yelp and found Dunbar Plumbing...I called them Monday at 7:30, my sumo pump was installed and I was back in business by 10:45!! Mr. Dunbar explained what I needed, sent pictures, and even offered to send me an estimate for replacing my water heater...I am beyond happy!!! I will recommend them to anybody who asks!! THANK YOU SO MUCH for getting us up and running so quickly!!!
