No zero star rating available or I'd have chosen it. Don't be fooled by other good reviews here, Jim at Dunbar is typical of most contractors across all disciplines of service today. He exemplifies all of the traits you might expect from someone with poor customer service skills: rude and dismissive on the phone, seems agitated if you aren't calling at a time that is convenient (for him), unreliable (read: doesn't follow through on what he says he will do - like coming to your home when he says that he will or he won't return calls when he says that he will after making it clear you have called him at a bad time). In my case he came to my home to evaluate things for a repipe job and then never got back to me with feedback or an estimate. I had to pursue him with multiple calls in an effort to get an answer that never came. He never got back to me. Yes, this is yet another service provider who has an attitude that he is doing you a favor by giving him your business, not the other way around as it should be. Feel free to call him, but don't expect any courtesy, don't expect any follow though on his word, and above all, don't expect to feel like you are doing him a favor with numerous other plumbers available in this market place to choose from. I only called him because our property management company suggested him. I suggest that you save yourself the time and aggravation. It's nice that there is a way to get the word out and I hope anyone seeking a plumber in the area will do a web search and read this. My special little way to return the favor for my wasted time and frustration. All the best Jim!

They came out same day, even though it was a non-urgent issue, and called before they came to let me know they were on the way. I had a long-term issue with a kitchen sink clogging. He knew immediately what the problem was, fixed it quickly and efficiently, and gave me a very reasonable price for both parts and labor. I couldn't be happier with the professional service. Would highly recommend to anyone!

Had a problem with a faucet that would clatter when I turned on the hot water. Called Dunbar and he told me to check the hot water valve under the sink and make sure it's open all the way. Did that and the problem went away. No need for a plumber to come out. I like a contractor who's willing to solve things over the phone rather than come and charge you ridiculous fees to fix a simple problem.

Jim just left my house in Newbury Park after unstopping the main sewer line. Because it is an older home with no clean out plug outside, he had to go on the roof with this monster snake - must have weighed a hundred pounds. In the heat of the day, with a new hip just 7 weeks old, Jim carried that snake up and down the ladder by himself! What a tough guy! The best part is he fixed the problem rather quickly, gave me good advise about the clean out, and did not over charge - very reasonable and quick response!

Came home to a leak in my wall between entryway and garage. On recommendation from neighbor my wife called Dunbar Plumbing in Newbury Park, CA. Within 20 minutes Jim Dunbar returned our call. Another 20 minutes and he was onsite stopping the leak. Another 20 minutes and his team was here to remove hot water heater, cut, repair, and reinstall all. Within an hour we were back to hot water and no leak. To top it off, the bill was much lower than my expectation. I can't recommend Jim Dunbar Plumbing enough. Top Rate service. PK

I had a water leak from a pipe on the outside of my house and decided to call this place up since there are a number of positive reviews here. I don't know much about plumbing, but I find it very strange that my toilet stops working right after the job was complete. I called Dunbar right back, maybe 20 minutes after he left, and his initial response was that it had nothing to do with him because ""he never even came in the house"". Whatever the case may be, he was unavailable for the rest of the weekend and I had to get someone else to come out and take a look at my toilet.

The work itself was ok, but not that great. He also seemed pretty bothered by the fact that I asked him to quote me a price before he started the job, stating that he always treats people fairly. Its totally reasonable for a customer to want that information though, especially if you are first time customer. I definitely won't be using them again.

Wonderful - first time customer. They just left. Not only were they early (woo hoo for the working mom that needs to race to work!) they changed their schedule for me. Unclogging my master tub took all of about 8 minutes! They were fast, kind, nice and most of all happy. They like what they do and are great at it. Cost? Exactly what I expected and no hidden charges. I know I will be using them again!
