Dubben Bros. is everything a service business should be -- highly competent, responsive, pleasant to deal with. We've used them for three years for propane supply, maintenance of the propane heater we bought from them, and, most recently, replacement of a hot water heater that conked out two days before the start of the New Year's weekend. When the water heater died, we were staring down a winter holiday weekend with no hot water. Within less than 24 hours, Dubben was here with a replacement. This is a lot to say, but honestly I don't think I've experienced more reliable service from any company for any thing, ever. If I could award them 10 stars, I would.

Big box retail didn't kill Main Street. We killed Main Street. Nobody holds a gun to our head, nobody forces us to the corporate gigantor stores on 28 with parking lots for days and traffic. We believe the everyday low prices mantra, we willingly sacrifice our soul to the machine.

This is all on us. We own it.

And in today's second generation of Main Street destruction we sit our unhealthy selves in the comfort of our overheated homes and with a few clicks of the mouse we have a cardboard package whisking it's way to us no mind the human interaction is gone and early onset diabetes gets closer with each substitution of small cardboard box for Main Street strolling we elect to make.

But no worries. Soon healthcare will be provided us for free and one more choice that we previously got to make on our own will be gone.

Good on us.

I was in need of hardware to make a few improvements for mi madre and not being from these parts thought that the big boxes had killed a local hardware option and she said oh hell no we're going to Dubben Brothers they're good people.

I was all no way San Jose Main Street is dead but bc Main Street was what mama wants and what mama wants is what all the offspring should recognize as their reason for getting out of bed in the morning off we went.

Dubben Bros rocks. It's been there forever! It smells like old time hardware stores are supposed to smell and while it isn't ginormous it does have a ton of stuff. Maybe three varieties of the tool you seek instead of a million but do we really need a million brands to choose between no we do not.

I'd suggest if you've recently moved to the area or been there awhile but not in this particular establishment that you drop by and look around to get a sense of what's in store. So to speak. One thing you'll find for sure is an old fashioned hospitality and genuine desire to be of assistance that's hard to find on 28. No disrespect intended those who work hard in those big corporate spaces but there a worker has to serve two masters - us AND the machine. And the priority isn't necessarily in that order.

From a roll of masking tape to a whosy-what-thingama-jig - Dubben's probably has it.

It's a fantastic hardware [and much more] store that would easily remind anyone that Home Depot and similar big box stores kinda suck. They have a great cross section of hardware that would be needed for any type of home repair or modification.

Their staff is very friendly, knowledgeable and helpful...and you may even find a friendly Pitbull meandering about.

the only problem i've had is that they are often not open when i need them to be- may want to call first.

Forget Home Depot and the other big box nightmares--I love this hardware store!

It's been there on Main Street near about forever and has just about everything you might want in a real, old-fashion, good quality hardware store, where the staff know what they're doing and whatever you need is actually in stock.

While you're there, don't miss the beautiful display of vintage tools and farming objects arranged all along the high shelves near the ceiling.

In addition to selling hardware, Dubben provides furnace-repair services and other home services. I've been very pleased with virtually every interaction I've had there.
