(It gets sadder and sadder) Sadly the toilet he installed leaked sewer gas fumes and I was forced out of my home into a hotel at a time I had a fractured elbow and could not lift a suitcase so I had to go and sleep in my sweats and come home the same way ... a week of searching for the source of the gas fumes, and KC - who had done all of the plumbing in my renovation - texted he could not help me. Sadder still is that I had trusted KC as he speaks very highly of himself, and explains while he is working how high quality are the parts he chooses and his skill. I thought his prices were reasonable but let's face it, a licensed plumber is charging a high rate because of the license and because plumbing requires skill lest terrible things go wrong. Even more sad is that I had found KC through a highly competent contractor who chooses his subs with care, and I kept calling KC after that contractor had let him go, thinking it was because of the horrid messes KC leaves for others to clean up behind him, or because he could not handle the immediate demands of larger scale commercial projects. I often wait for KC to be available. KC installed three toilets and three sinks and one bathtub and a hot water tank and plumbed a new outdoor spigot at 2 1/2 bath townhouse. Also his partner John repaired two copper water lines. So it seemed like when the sewer gas came up if anything were amiss it was likely his plumbing, unless there was some kind of unusual root growth or something like that going on. The saddest part was that KC asked me if I could give a cell phone to my contractor friend whom I thought I might see at a church event. Isn't this so terribly sad that I actually agreed to this and played a part in his attempts to reconcile and earn back business! Luckily there was another plumber who agreed to reset the toilets for me before I spent a fortune in exploration. At first the sewer gas seemed to come directly from the downstairs half bath toilet. The new plumber reset that toilet, which helped some but then it became harder to locate the source after it stopped coming from there. The source was then more vague, both upstairs and downstairs, but mainly was concentrated in the dining area that has a bathroom above it. When the second toilet was reset by the new plumber, it could be seen that two wax rings had been stacked to make up for the height of new tile which is regular thickness for a good quality flooring tile. The wax was thick and shifted over time. The new plumber put in a plastic ring which can hold the weight of the toilet and he used only one wax ring. The fumes did not return after the second toilet was reset. Let me say I am easy on all of my appliances and fixtures and I am not heavy nor do I have heavy people using my upstairs bathroom. KC said that he did not do anything wrong and since the installation lasted a year I would not have any recourse. He did not offer to cover any of my expenses or refund his charges. Let me also say his partner John price gauged the repair of the copper lines. The lines broke on a weekend but I was not available to meet him and asked for a weekday appointment the next week. The charges were $550 for limited materials and over an hour of work but less than two - not even a quarter day. KC had not price gauged me like that before although he does charge licensed plumber prices which ought to be worth more than what I got. He has not responded to my requests to correct the gauging charges. Although he feels he did everything right I will let the readers of this review decide, and the state board of plumbing.
Rachael B.KC is fabulous. He was able to meet my fiancé on short notice to fix a leaky toilet, and he barely charged us anything for the work. Courteous, quick, and very fair! I'll call him anytime I ever have a plumbing issue.
