Drain Masters
Company Overview
Hi there, folks, my name is William Helton. Between 1998 and 2004, I gained experience at numerous large plumbing businesses in the 209 and 916 zones before starting my own contracting business. In my experience with those contractors, I realized they were more interested in profit margins than in helping customers. I became frustrated with customers in need, so I decided to take control and establish my own business where I set the standards and pricing. I proudly serve as a veteran and reservist in the Air Force, I also work as a civil engineer at Travis AFB. I care deeply about my country and community, and I am eager to offer my services to the local area. All you need to do is reach out!
Licensing number: 963211. In 2001, we launched our family business, initially named The Plumbinator, but we rebranded to Drain Masters to better reflect our work. I am a self-driven individual, honest, respectful, and passionate about my country and community. I served in the U.S. Air Force, working as a civil engineer and WFM plumber.

HONEST, hardworking, knowledgeable -- he actually saves me money any time I've had to use a plumber! And he's the only plumber I'd let work on my old, knocking pipes -- does it right the first time, every time!

Be very careful!! Started great, terrible experience and ended Never...
Had a great conversation with Kyle through Yelp and on the phone about a little leak in my backyard focet. Kyle's brother calls me the next day upset that he put the wrong address, blaming google maps for having glitches. An hour later he shows up and an hour later he calls upset that it took longer than expected (I think he was upset that he got lost) and he is going to charge more.
After talking to Kyle we negotiated the additional price down. Next day I found out from my tennents that they can't attach the hose to the focet because it's visible way close to the wall. Basically it's worst than then a rookie job.
Kyle agreed and said he will have someone come to fix it. Patiently called him every other week to find out when they would come for last month and he said he is sorry and call to remind him next week.
Still waiting on it to be fixed.

Update: Owner has contacted me and said he will be issuing a cease and desist letter to make me remove this review.
So just keep that in mind when considering where to take your business.
Original Review:
This was a chaotic experience. We used Drain Masters for a sewer scope and general plumbing inspection for a home purchase.
It wasn't a great experience overall- scheduling wasn't made clear so both the owner (who works out of the modesto office) and a tech out of Sacramento went out to the house at different times. We were begging the owner for our inspection report, received it at 11pm the night before we had to do our ""request for repairs."" Then later the owner called to tell me he forgot to add something to the report (after we had already submitted our request for repairs), but forgot what it was. Was going to look at the report and call me right back.... never called me back. Then radio silence for a week and then three phone calls over the following weekend asking me for payment.
The Sacramento guy quoted me a significantly lower price for the sewer scope than the owner. After discussing this with the owner there's all kinds of accusations of people stealing work and doing ""unofficial"" work on the side. I can't say their work was bad but basically too much drama that I didn't need to be involved in as a customer.
Also I have since switched to another plumbing company and asked for a quote on a sewer scope. The other plumber's price was in line with the lower quote so not sure what value I got out of paying more than twice as much.

We knew we were facing major plumbing issues when we attempted to open our drain twice without success . My husband found Drain Masters here on Yelp and decided to give them a call due to all of th positive Yelp reviews.
Tom and Max (owner) came out right on time for the scheduled appointment. He told us what he suspected was wrong-- that we had a crushed pipe because our flooring was buckling.- long story short- it resulted in jack hammering, digging and repair. Tom assisted us in working with our insurance company and was so kind to be available to speak with our insurance adjuster, give knowledgeable descriptions of what was wrong and what needed to be repaired, send pictures, etc. to expedite our claim.
His crew was neat, efficient, and courteous while in our home. He always called or texted to let us know who would be coming by and when. His prices are definitely reasonable and we would recommend Drain Masters for all our plumbing needs in the future.
Really pleased!

Thomas and Max came out to my house after I discovered a sewer backup in my front yard. I called and they were there within the hour. This was AFTER my cheap-ass home warranty company sent some yahoo out to collect $75 to tell me I ""might"" have a problem. Thomas and Max diagnosed it quick, showed me what it looked like on the camera and then they were back the next day and fixed it. 5 feet of clay pipe replaced with ABS in the front yard. I even received pictures of the process via text.
Quick, inexpensive, and great customer service. I'll definitely use them again... although I hope I don't have too. :)

The last time Thomas came out was to repair a toilet that was making a knocking noise in the pipes and to replace our sons' bathroom faucets. He and a member of his crew did an excellent job for a fair price explaining the details of each problem we had going on with our toilet and faucets.
This week he came to fix a leaking bathroom faucet. He is prompt & professional and saved our family $$$. We greatly appreciate his level of professionalism and integrity which is most often hard to find when it comes to household repairs. We are impressed with his service, would highly recommend him and his crew for any small or large plumbing problem. We would definitely call Drain Masters again for any issues.

Thomas and his crew did a great job on a kitchen back up problem I had. He was thorough and detailed about what the problem was and knew the importance of repairing it as quickly as possible so that I could use my kitchen sink. He was determined to figure out where problem lied. I have used Thomas on many different occasions and will wait until he is available to do the job. He is reliable and honest. Definitely someone I would refer for any plumbing needs.

Drain Masters did a great job on my plugged sewer pipes. He stayed with the problem until it got resolved, and didn't try to sell us something we didn't need. The cost was reasonable, based upon all he had to do.

I had a sewer flooding in my recently purchased home that was out of control. I called multiple plumbing companies out of the Sacramento area. The few that showed up tried to help clear my sewer line but was not successful(but still charged me). Each company that showed up gave outrageous prices for a sewer line replacement.4600-7200(shame on them, one of the companies even threaten me about calling the city because my over flowing sewer was reaching the street and that i could get a big fine if i dont correct the problem asap). Then a friend of mine suggested that i call Thomas from Drain Masters(thank goodness) so i did. Thomas was very polite and showed up within 45 minutes(that never happens)He was very polite and professional, he explained what he felt was the problem and started to work to try and unblock my service.(he even mentioned that theres no charge if he didnt clear the blockage.)After about 36 minutes he did what no other company did... He cleared it!!!!! I was so happy i almost hugged the little guy. Then Thomas did a video inspection of the sewer line and explained in detail what i was looking at. He was very informative and seemed to know his plumbing. He agreed i need a new sewer line because i had orange berg pipes and they were crushed and full of roots. I wouldn't have believed it but i saw it on his camera system.I was terrified knowing i had to spend a large amount of money for the permanent fix. Amazingly after a informative talk about the trenchless procedure... He quoted me a price of 3200 with permits and a lifetime warranty on the pipes. I broke down and gave the little guy a hug and said thank you. I found my plumber!!!! He was honest, informative, professional, and very friendly.(not to mention very reasonable priced compared to other companies) I encourage anyone looking for a real honest plumber... Call Drain Masters and ask for Thomas!!!! Tell him Melissa M sent you!!!

Thomas and his crew did an amazing job replacing my old, failing sewer line. He was clear, honest and reliable. I can't say enough how excellent the service and now I have a lifetime guarantee. Thomas stayed late and snaked a hole in a root ball so we could at least flush our toilet prior to the big project being completed. It was 106 degrees and he stayed to make sure we were taken care of. Excellent work, and excellent, professional people!
