Absolutely terrible company. prey on innocent unknowing women try to sell my wife $975 worth of unnecessary work said could not snake drain charged 125 left caps off of drain purposely making a mess had another company come in and do the job in 10 minutes. Drain detective said my lines were collapsed the other company ran a camera through my lines and said there is no collapses spoke with management they said they would give me a credit but would not give me a refund why would I want a credit from a company who couldn't do the job right the first time they do not back their satisfaction guarantee
Guess if the job isn't big enough, they'll try anything to make more money. Needed a simple snake of the main drain and was told they couldn't open it. This service was $125. They wanted to do a water line snake and camera for $925 or my pipes must've been so bad that I must have a broken pipe in the front yard and that cost is $4500. But don't worry, anything you pay will be credited towards the next bigger job.
That was Friday.
Today, Monday, I had another plumber come out and snaked it no problem and put the camera down and saw no broken pipes, everything is good, just tree roots. $145 out the door.
I've requested a refund since they didn't do the job. They tell me they won't be refunding any money and I should contact my Attorney.
All for $125. Because my job wasn't big enough for them. Then the should not be snaking main drains.
Help me Hank on WDIV has already been emailed. Just waiting for a response.
I do not recommend Drain Detectives.
Or was it was because I am a woman...
Please do yourself a favor and avoid these scammers at all costs. Had Ricky out last Tuesday to look at some leaking pipes under my sink running through to my basement. Ricky said the pipes underneath my sink and on the basement ceiling needed to be replaced. The next day they sent out a guy named Jon (real piece of work). He was kinda clueless when he arrived and asked ME what needed to be done. I said shouldn't you know?! He was here for a little over an hour and put in new pipes under my sink (just pieces, not the entire pipe) and just a piece on the basement ceiling. Not the entire pipe like discussed with Ricky. He left, and I didn't check his work before he did (my fault), but sure enough the leak was still there. Worse in fact. Which he stated on the receipt that he did a leak test and their were no leaks. I called and spoke to him and he immediately started yelling at me. He said it was still leaking when he left and that it must be another problem. I asked him how could he do a job and leave with the problem not fixed? He then proceeded to scream and swear at me. I hung up and called the office and spoke to the manager Julie. She then sent a man named Kevin out. He came and told me it was my drain line under the sink and not the pipes that were just done. I told him I wasn't paying them anymore because Ricky never mentioned the drain line just the pipes. He said don't worry, we'll take care of you. Sure enough an hour later I get a call from Julie the manager saying it would be an additional $800 and that the guy Ricky said he did tell me about the drain, which he never did. She said Ricky would call me to come out on Friday. He called me at 2:00 and left me a voicemail saying that he heard I had some questions for him! He was supposed to call me early in the morning to come and fix this problem that's been happening since Tuesday. I finally called my regular plumber who couldn't come out the day I had Drain Detectives out. They proceeded to tell me that I never needed those new pipes and that the work that was done was not done well and that what they wanted to do to the drain would've just caused a bigger problem. My regular plumber is breaking through the wall and exposing the pipe to find the actual leak instead of just rerouting it like Drain Detectives suggested, all for the same price DD quoted me. So not only did DD have me do work that never needed to be done, they wanted to do more work the quick, inefficient way that would've made the problem much worse. Also, the water damage and mold damage I now have is much worse because I had to wait on them for so long. Extremely unprofessional, dishonest scammers.
Tom J.Had an issue with the toilet leaking. Called them on Sunday to get this resolved. Two guys showed up, put the new ring on the top of the ring that my husband replaced, told us we have an issue with the pipe without even investigating. They spent 10 min here, charged $325. When I asked for the promo of $25 to be applied, he said the promo doesn't work on Sunday's calls but he gave me $60 already. When I asked for the description of charges, he said it is $325. What a joke.Left me an invoice with no description of work and problem unresolved. Told us to wait 48 and then flush the toilet. We flushed after 48 hours - it leaked even more. Called them back, she sends out another guy as a favor to us. The other guy investigates and says $400 for him to fix the flange. He cancelled the service and called another company who took time investigating this issue, found the problem and it is not the toilet that they charge us $325 (with the promo, lol). Please stay away from this business, if you call them, they talk over you, they no best and you are stupid because you need their service. No you don't - there are plenty of other trustworthy company who will help you when you need it. What a scam.
Stephen W.Had an issue last year and called them. They knew I was a new homeowner and charged me $300 for a simple drain snaking...When the guy came out he was trying to sell me a bunch of additional things like putting a camera down the drain for a couple hundred dollars as well... I passed. Anyways, I had to get my drain re-snaked again today and I got it done for $95... I told them drain detectives charged me $300, and they laughed and said we've heard that before. Two stars for coming out same day but no more as they obviously will take advantage of you. If you're reading this, try G & C Sewer Services.
They came out on a Saturday- I thought i needed a new seal because the toilet was leaking - they were supposed to tell me what the cost of any repair was before beginning any repair- all I needed was the screws on the toilet to be tightened-he never told me this was all it needed then tightened the screws and charged me an additional $50.00 in addition to the 125.00 trip charge - so it cost me 175.00 to get the problem fixed - he was at my house for 8 min.
I complained about the 50.00 charge to the office manager and it fell on deaf ears - I would never use them again and would suggest any consumer call a different company
A very dishonest service. I called them for a main drain backing up. He showed up with no tarp or anything to keep the place clean. After supposedly opening it, the guy ran the camera and the drain was still full of water.
He started saying it was normal as drain tiles were emptying but as I told him it didn't make sense he then started saying he can't run the root cutting head. I had other plumbing services and they opened the drain and cut the roots.
They still wanted to get paid even though they didn't provide the service requested ( open the drain).
After reading I also never heard the sound of the drain opening (the "" gulp "" sound) and I am certain the guy didn't go the full 100 feet.
Theresa S.Drain detectives saved my home from a major flood. I called got an answer. The gentleman showed up before his time. I will never use another company again. Drain detectives care, clean up after themselves. I am beyond impressed. My only plumber from now on. Forever and ever. Thank you for great rates as well. I appreciate you more then you will ever know
Angie K.The guy come to the house tells us that after 15 min We will have to get are yard... It's the main pipe the other company comes and no problem at all wow watch with this company during detectives with singer women and elderly people they will take a vantage of them
After a 5 minute on-site chat, they charged me $75 just to tell me they couldn't do the work they promised they could do when I scheduled the job over the phone. They claimed it was a standard service call fee, but the woman I spoke with never mentioned any fees during the phone call.
