Called them for a blocked sanitary line. They must have sent their worst employee because the guy seemed stoned or hung over. He didn't have business cards, didn't have any company work orders or invoices and said he had to phone his boss before he could proceed. He was unable to jet out the line or camera it without help. He couldn't get a hold of his boss, so he left without resolving our backup. We called the main number again to find out what was going on---if someone would be back--and didn't get a return call. To top it off, the guy who came out left his shovel. We called him to come pick it up, and as of 10+ days later, he hasn't claimed his shovel. We called them because of the good rating, but we can't figure out how they got that kind of rating based on our experience.
The serviceman snaked the pipes under the kitchen sink. He ran a little water and said everything was fine. That night the kitchen sink backed up again. Since it was then Friday night I waited til Monday with standing water in the sink. Called another plumber who again tried snaking it out but the difference was he knew there was a problem. I unfortunately had to have the jet removal process done. There was chunks of grease in the lines that were eventually blasted out. I should be issued a refund because DCS failed to solve the issue.
I talked to James and he was quick and timely on the phone. He sent Joe to come do a sewer and storm water camera inspection. Joe was patient and timely and I never felt like they tried to ""sell"" me anything. Thank you for your help
BUYER BEWARE!!! My relationship began with DCS last October after being referred by an online search, in regard to a leaking sewer pipe. Before the job commenced, I also discovered a water problem in the crawl space which I alerted the team to when they arrived. Upon investigation DCS also noticed exposed, crumbling earth along one wall where the 1971 addition was attached. Admittedly, to an UNTRAINED person, it looks damaged. DCS's comment was, ""Oh my God, the wall is caving in!"" Since then, other contractors have assured me that the wall is not in any danger of collapse! DCS's response alarmed me which created huge vulnerability when it came time for them to present their very extensive, exorbitantly priced, downspout drainage ""fix."" Although I expressed grave concern over their proposal, DCS boasted that this was ""the only way to properly correct the problem and what they would suggest to their own mothers."" The next morning, I told them I felt I should get other opinions, but they quipped that would not be helpful - merely pitting one contractor against another. DCS then began to whittle down the bottom line to make the deal seem less expensive. They ""threw in"" a battery backup system that they priced at $2995, took off $1000 for ""premium landscaping,"" & $5100 to replace the outside sewer line. I realized later that this was cost diversion & not true savings! Based on other estimates, it would appear that DCS double charges for their work. Also, they added $3800 in costs when the City would not let them terminate all the downspout water they were diverting, thru the curblawn into the street, requiring more excavation to create a drywell. They had assumed they could either do this or tie directly into the storm sewer, but had not cleared this with the City before they began the project. When they considered the job concluded, they then asked for the final amount due, even though it was stated on their last ""proposed work form"" that they would return in the spring to finish up some loose ends.
The 1st real test of DCS's work came mid-January with unseasonable rainfall. Although the crawl had previously dried out, it was again completely wet with water accumulation in low spots. DCS investigated &concluded that water was coming in from a trench that they claim they never saw located in the section of crawl space they had been in to do the sewer replacement. DCS then convinced me that the way to fix the problem was another $1800 to lay a pipe in this trench and tie it into the inside footer drain they had previously installed. It clearly hasn't corrected the problem!
At this point, I sought legal counsel and discovered many violations in regard to consumer and contract law! With a final payment to DCS with the add-ons of over $46000, $35000 was attributed to the water issue. Still, my desire at this point was to avoid litigation and hope DCS would take responsibility for an ineffective fix and do whatever was necessary to correct the water issue and gain my satisfaction as a customer. Unfortunately, I have not seen them since, as they repeatedly cancel appointments. I gave up on DCS two weeks ago when I waited all day without even a call. I have gotten the gamut of excuses: ""We're stuck in NY on a job, sorry, but I can't be in two places at one time."" (the night before they were scheduled to come out). ""I was in the hospital getting an exam and didn't have my phone on me.""(after my midday inquiry another time when they had yet to arrive) ""We were stuck on an emergency job and won't be able to make it."" In this particular case, I had asked both of my young adult sons to come for the ""meeting"" that had been planned to discuss this ongoing scenario. They had rearranged their work schedules only to have DCS cancel 30 minutes prior to the expected arrival. Typically when these circumstances arose, the promise would be to come out later that day or another day conducive to their schedule never considering that I might have a life too!
I am currently working with 3rd party help in trying to get a refund from DCS as I have to hire another contractor to do the job right. I am doubtful of remedy based on the arrogance in which DCS has responded thus far. I am a USAF widow, on fixed income who paid DCS the majority of my savings but am left with the same water problem I began with last October. I strongly caution you against doing business with DCS. This review, due to limited space, is the ""tip of the iceberg!"" I've not even included their poor work ethic: most often not arriving to the job until 10, leaving out for long lunch breaks, ending the day often before 4, hired men standing around without direction, not returning to correct leaking eaves, cutting corners, etc. As I began this lengthy review: BUYER BEWARE!
