Andrew came out to fix a couple of plumbing problems that I'd botched trying to save a buck. He provided cost saving tips and had the repairs done in short order!

I had a small window of time to meet Husted Plumbing at a rental property in Carp. Andrew was on time and prompt and efficient with his work. He handled a toilet and garbage disposal in short order--and we were both on our way.

In my experience, Husted does not stand by their work. I've used them five times - from a leaky faucet to a water heater repair to snugging up a trash disposal. Two of the repairs? Good. However, I've had them come out 3X to fix a leaky tub faucet, and the problem keeps coming back. 4+ weeks ago I called them back for repair attempt #3. A rushed repairman looked at the tub for five minutes - unscrewing and re-screwing the tub faucet, etc. This made the leak worse. He then screwed on an ugly makeshift fixture to hold back the leak. He was eager to end his workweek; he was going on vacation the next day. This would not have been an issue except he never followed up when he got back, or returned my follow up voicemail. It has been 4+ weeks with no word from Husted. They have shown me that my business is not important to them.

We have used Husted Plumbing for several years. Craig, the owner, is very honest and reputable. Recently, we had a plugged toilet - Craig got one of his plumbers there soonest. There was a disparity on the billing, Craig got it corrected on the spot. We wish Craig continued success - thank you!

Follow up to my earlier review. My family owns a small business in Santa Barbara. Two showers were blocked. The business has been using another plumbing company, and they are very responsive and very good. However, they could not unblock the two showers, even after 3 hours work. The only solution was to jackhammer up one shower and go underneath. Yikes! I decided to call Husted because Andrew had done such a good job at our residence. He couldn't come for a few days, but we waited. And boy, was it worth the wait! Andrew did all the things the other plumber did, to no avail. It is really old plumbing and the snake just wouldn't go in the direction of the blockage. He tried about 5 different ways. Finally he made one more attempt with different equipment and...success!!!! Andrew saved us over $2,500. Needless to say, we are so impressed and so grateful!

DO NOT USE THIS PLUMBER!! Their business practices are dishonest and unfair. Please learn from my terrible experience and avoid them at all costs!!!
Husted Pluming charged me $258 per/hour to replace my water heater!! No joke!!! This hourly rate is exorbitant and even the more reputable plumbers in the Santa Barbara area only charge somewhere between $100 and $120 per/hour.
The labor charge to replace my water heater was supposedly, as the technician explained, to be approximately half the price of the water heater. Well the water heater was $685, so the labor should have been about $350, but I was charged $775 for the labor!! Over twice the amount I should have been!!! Additionally, looking at it from an hourly perspective, the job took under 3.5 hours to complete and if a plumber typically charges say $110 per/hour then in this scenario I should have paid no more than $375 max. Once again over twice the amount!! I'm sorry but this is just plain wrong, no matter which way you look at it I got seriously ripped off.
Knowing I've been a victim of this dishonest plumbing company has compelled me to write this so no one else will be taken advantage of like I have. There are many good and honest plumbers in SB to choose from and Husted Plumbing is not one of them.

Great service! Craig gets it done and follows up
To make sure things are all good. Thanks for your help guys! We'll be calling again.

As a follow up, still having phenomenal service from the Husted Plumbing team, Matt in particular. Knowledgeable, honest and super fair. Best service ever. Trustworthy, fast, , superb communication and gets things done. I don't use anyone else. If you have the option, ask for Matt. He's great!

Do NOT hire Husted plumbing. I employ plumbers often to take care of properties, so I know what is typical and what is not, and these guys are bad news.
I had a relatively simple, non-emergency plumbing job to do, Husted sent its man out to take a look. He looked, promised to send me an estimate, no estimate ever came. Even without the estimate, I set up an appointment to get the job done (like I said, it was a minor job, Maybe an hour or two of work, no expensive parts involved, no digging needed, I had a decent notion of what it should cost, I foolishly thought that I did not need an estimate). Well, Husted did not show up for the appointment, and did not call me. After waiting around for two hours, I called them (they did not call me) to find out where they were, they said they could not come and wanted to reschedule. I said fine, rescheduled for a few days later (and again asked for an estimate for my job, which never came). When they finally came to do my job a few days later, before he started work, I asked what the job would cost, and The price he gave for the job was just absurd, easily double what it should have cost.
I sent the guy away, called another plumbing company, who sent someone out on the same day and did the job for half the price that Husted was going to do it for. I can see why Husted did not send me an estimate before showing up to do the job -- if they had given me that high an estimate, I would have taken bids from other plumbers.
I would not trust these guys to do any plumbing job at any price. I should send them a bill for my time for the two hours I spent waiting around for them when they failed to show up.

Very rude to me. Tried to exaggerate the work that was needed. Got angry when I declined their service. Wanted to charge me anyway even though they did no work. Find another plumber.
