I would give no stars if I could. The economy must be good when contractors act like you are bothering them when you call to offer work.

We called to arrange for a new hot water heater - we were first told told to email photos of the existing unit, which we promptly did and we did not hear back. We tried to follow up twice - during the first call no one seemed to recall our initial interaction; during the second call we were rudely told that if we wanted this done any time soon we should go elsewhere. No worries. We will. And we will tell our friends to do likewise.

I called because Don Davis took over for Sweatland Oil, who put a new boiler in for me about a year and a half ago and I just learned something needs to be corrected.
The receptionist kept stonewalling me - for weeks - with excuses about having to look up the records. Even after I looked up the records, she kept trying to stall giving me an answer as to whether they would correct the problem.
But, her extremely condescending attitude is why I took the time to write this review.
With a receptionist like that, you will surely lose more business....

I wish Yelp listed that he does not do free estimates and does not do any work unless you have a service contract. The gentlemen was nice telling me this, but it should be listed on yelp and not for a general homeowner to be able to call for work done.

Don Davis has saved my life more than once! The best plumber in all the land. They've installed a new boiler, two new toilets, and came out in the middle of winter to help solve a terrible burst pipe problem. Hire with confidence!

Professional results. Owner is dedicated. Never a problem. You get what you pay for; saving money by going with the cheap guys will cost you in the long run. Never a problem with these guys; quick, reliable, people you can count on. Owner has a plethora of knowledge and is honest, never selling but always educating. I purchased a 2nd home in the Berkshires two months ago, and the previous owners had long used Davis Heat and Cooling to maintain the boiler system and baseboard heating. While I was back in Boston working, the temperatures in the Berkshires dropped to -8 and there was an issue that caused the boiler to stop working. The baseboard heat pipes froze, and I panicked. Don Davis came out within an hour and started to get things working. The house is toasty warm again and disaster was avoided. No burst pipes! They recommended setting up a monitoring system that will notify them whenever the temps drop too low, the boiler doesn't fire up, or the oil levels in the tanks gets too low. Full service people and I'm glad to be using them.

At 5pm, noticed boiler was leaking and water in basement. Called the company, over the phone help followed by emergency visit and everything was back to normal by 6:45pm. Don himself came out, was helpful, polite, and informative. Will definItely call back for future service needs.

On Friday, January 3rd we arrived back from Jacksonville Florida to our home in Windsor, MA and discovered our oil furnace was off and would not restart. We frantically called over 15 local oil companies to help us and we were told the same thing if your not an existing customer we can't help you. Needless to say, we were shocked that the representative would just dismiss a family with children who has no heat in the freezing winter. Just as we were contemplating moving the family into a hotel, my friend called Don Davis and even though we were not current customers he didn't hesitate to help a family in need. In fact, him and his wife were out to dinner and came directly to our house. Don arrived in 15 minutes and went right to work on the furnace. Unfortunately, we had not had the furnace cleaned in many years and that was the reason the furnace failed. Don spend a couple hours and cleaned the crud that had built up over the years. The furnace started up and is running perfect. My family is extremely grateful that Don Davis was the only oil company throughout Berkshire County who cared enough to help a family in an emergency at 9:00 at night. Thank you Don and your wife for coming to our aid when we needed you most. I would highly recommend Don Davis. In fact, we are now going to have Don Davis inspect and service our furnace annually so this never happens again.
