I can't recommend this company. Although they are courteous and competent, they are exceedingly expensive. Their cost for R420 refrigerant is about $80 per lb. The price for the same thing elsewhere is $20. They quoted a replacement evaporator at $2500, and others came in at $1600. I also felt a bit pressured to purchase a maintenance plan.

Great customer service. Melissa, was very nice and knowledgeable. She answered my questions thoroughly and was very helpful. The service technician,(who's name has escaped my mind...he had really nice eyebrows) was very informative as well. I would refer them to anyone asking.

Dr. Cool & Prof. Heat installed two new air handlers in my attic right before I left on summer vacation. A month later when I got home I had water running up through a sink and down from the upstairs bathroom through two floors to my garage because they tied the condensate line in to the vent line for the bathroom lavatories rather than the drain line they had previously used - a vent line they had to find buried under the insulation in the attic. A plumber called the next day confirmed that was the problem. Dr. Cool/Prof. Heat says they are not responsible for any of the damage done.

I have done business with Dr. Cool and Professor Heat through the company that I work for, Power Vac America. When our customers are having a problem with their a/c systems, I tell them to call Dr. Cool. I want to make sure that my clients are well taken care of and I know that I can trust the technicians at Dr. Cool, especially since they have won the BBB's Award for Excellence so many times.

Dr. Cool & Professor Heat provides the maintenance and repairs on my home A/C unit. I bought the house with a Trane A/C unit and Dr Cool did the install and had the service contract. I have had a couple of issues with the unit that required repair. Dr Cool techs are on it. This last trip, the tech showed up and diagnosed the issue in 10 minutes. The follow-up tech made the repair and vetted the system for any additional issues in less than an hour. Both techs remembered the name of the previous homeowner and they were both professional, courteous, well equipped, dressed nicely, and had a smile on their faces. One of the techs installed the unit originally and I can tell he is proud of his work and his employer. Dr Cool is a great company. I recommend them - my neighbor just bought a new Trane system and is tickled as well.

I was introduced to Doctor Cool/Professor Heat through the Cool Saver Program.
The CoolSaver Program offers free A/C tune-ups to customers in CenterPoint Energy Houston Electric's delivery service territory -- a $150 value. A CoolSaver A/C Tune-up can improve the cooling output and efficiency of your air conditioning unit by up to 27 percent.

On November 1, 2014, I requested service because my furnace was not heating. DCPH sent technician named Mike. Mike's conclusion was : "everything running good".

On December 29, 2014, I requested service because my furnace was not heating. DCPH sent technician named Luke. Luke's conclusion was : (1)"replace furnace if possible", (2) "replace control board".
DCPH price quote for furnace was $3270- $2578.
DCPH price quote for control board was $687- 450.

On December 30, 2014, I acquired a second opinion. The conclusions of this technician was:
(1) furnace fire box was intact (2) the furnace jets in burners were all good (3) there was no visible damage to furnace (4) nothing to suggest replacing furnace at cost of over $2000.

The control board was found to be defective and Carrier part IMC 281 was located and ordered from Amazon.com at a cost of $78.00.

The time required to dismantle, inspect, diagnose and order the necessary part was less than the 1.5 - 2.0 hours suggested by DCPH's technician, Luke, to remove and replace the control board.

I am saying all of this to be clear that I will no longer use Doctor Cool / Professor Heat for my heating and cooling services. I no longer have any confidence in the service they provide. I would tell any consumer to look elsewhere for AC/Heating service.

Don't be fooled by BBB award. This BBB award was for years 2006-2012.

Have used the Doc on several occasions and they've always done a tremendous job. The girls that answer the line are extremely attentive and usually get me a quick and if needed, emergency appointment.
I had a condo in Galveston & it's always been hard to get service out there. The guy they sent was lightning fast and gave me the easiest and most appropriate option for my repair.
Today I had Omar and Franklin out to do yearly maintenance on my Mitsubishi split unit. Which I LOVE!! They did a very thorough job, informed me of the things I needed to know. Made sure to answer all of my questions and they were polite and friendly to boot! As for the prev comment on price, you get what you pay for.
Thank you Dr. Cool & Professor heat for being our go to A/C guys!

Horrible service and very over priced company. The owner Jimmy was very rude and unprofessional. I was charged $80.00 per pound for Freon and after calling around the average price for Freon is 40-50 dollars per pound. The tech that came out had been sitting at a restaurant with friends drinking because it was an evening call and he thought he would get called out. He took several personal phone calls while at my house. I called jimmy the owner to complain and he told me he had already spoke with me when in fact it had never spoke to him but had left several messages over a 2 week period for him to call me back. I urge you to call around and find a more reputable and honest company.

They came out fast, provided great service for a very fair price. They did not try and over sell me and spent all the time needed to explain exactly what they are doing. We bought a new A/C had it installed professionally and provide bi-annual service. Our regular tech Jason is very nice and made sure we are happy every time he visits. Only had a problem with 1 tech there and found out he was fired after only working there a short time.

I feel like I was suckered by this company and my current electricity provider, but thanks to Yelp, I don't have to suffer in silence!

About a month ago, my electricity provider e-mailed me with an offer for a free tune-up. Rather than my antennas going directly up, I thought I was going to make use of a great opportunity! The e-mail claimed that this offer was being made to me in an effort to ensure the safety and efficiency of my A/C unit and the service they provide to me. Sounds stupid, huh? Too bad, I didn't realize that on my own. I went on and called the number, received a validation code, and chose this company (out of a few others) because this was closest to me & I didn't want the technician to have to travel too far. I was also told that if I hadn't hear from this company, to set up the appointment, in a few days, I should call them.

After a week, I hadn't heard from this company, so I called them...I was immediately greeted with a lie. The young lady claimed she called me three times and my telephone was disconnected. I am one of a dying breed that still maintains a LAN line that is hooked to an answering machine. Therefore, no call goes unanswered. She also lied and said she e-mailed me. Just for kicks, I also checked my junk e-mail (up to the prior week) and no such e-mail existed. Either way, we settled on an appointment time. Theses lies should have been my second indication that I was going to be taken on a ride.

When the day of the appointment arrived, someone from this office called me several hours before the appointment to ask if I could meet the technician earlier because they appointments were running a bit early. Well why not, it's not like I work to earn a living or anything...She seemed surprised when I again mentioned that I work; however, I worked with her after several back-and-forth telephone calls and agreed to leave my job at lunch time to meet the technician. Such unprofessionalism should have been my third indication.

In the spirit of full disclosure: I know that I was ripped of about 6 years ago when I purchased this brand new unit. I have somewhat of a bad installation; however, my energy costs are quite low & I haven't had a problem with the unit.

When the young, seemingly under some sort of prior influence technician arrive, he requested to make use of my restroom. I'm quite sure he did more than urinate--TACKY. Either way, after a few minutes in my attic, he asked that he show me faulty items on 2 different occasions. The second occasion, he even disconnected the heat that went to my unit. However, I totally agree with the reason for disconnection. After a least another hour of him working and continuously complaining about the shotty work that was done in my attic, he turned his attention outside. It was there that he claims to have found more problems. I was finally able to kindly run him off. But not before he was able to "brag" about Doctor Cool being selected for this program & all of the employees having to pass background checks...Why else would I need such information if your background hasn't been in question before...He ended the appointment with a summation of my unit being poorly installed and very faulty.

It wasn't until I was retuning to work that I realized this was all a ruse...It was always the intention for this company to find several things wrong with my unit & instill fear in my home's worth and safety. It was also intended for me to ask if this company could remedy the various situations that were mentioned. Thank God that I am not as stupid as I look, and I never once inquired about future services from this company. I would suggest you do the same, and you should also be glad for a review site like Yelp that allows one to share such horrible experiences.
