Buyer Beware. This company wants you to believe they have your best interests in mind, but they will scalp you. They ""quote"" by the job but they don't have a rate sheet to give you. I am embarrassed to say I used them on three occasions this year before I recognized their scam. They recently told me they needed to route out a toilet but didn't tell me until they were making up the bill that it would cost $600!! And the toilet still has waste come back up after the flush. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY unless you are willing to be overcharged - and bull shooted. If you have any issues with the work, the sweet attitude gets lost very quickly and they become offensive. Save yourself the aggravation and expense - use another plumber.
Overpriced, paid for lackluster results, they DO NOT guarantee service like others. Had to bring in another crew to verify past work and finish what was needed.
I had an emergency situation as my water heater was leaking and or broke!! They came out we're friendly, knowledgeable and got the job done! Thanks DMR Plumbing for a job well done!
OVER PRICED! screwed once tried them again! was desperate! SCREWED again. one star cause they showed up. NONONO
Do not use DMR!! We used them and not only were their prices outrageous (over $200 for about a 20 minute job), but they do not back their work. We had them put in a angle shut off value for our toilet. After they put it in it began to leak. When I had them out again to look at it he tried to convince me it was condensation AND THEN CHARGED ME $95 FOR THE VISIT! After a few more weeks when it was OBVIOUS it was leaking I had them out again. Even though it was only a matter of weeks since they had been out he demanded a receipt to prove they were the ones who put it in. I had him to fix it then HE TRIED TO CHARGE ME FOR THE VISIT AGAIN! They claim to have a one year guarantee. I think not!! So in the end, aside from all the bickering they did to try to justify a charge, it ended up costing me about $300 for what should have been a 20 minute job and would have been more if i had not refused to pay it. Again DO NOT USE THEM.
Now that I am looking at the Yelp reviews I wish I had check here first. Unfortunately I was in a desperate situation and I feel DMR took the advantage. I read here that is a recurring theme. I own a home I rent in Illinois and live on the east coast. My main sump pump went out and my neighbor in Illinois recommended DMR. I do give them credit for being responsive and promptly replacing the sump the same day, however they charged me $741 to simply replace a $299 pump, which can be purchased at the local Ace Hardware. They did a little pipe work and giving them a 20% markup on the pump, I find it hard to believe they did $320 worth of labor. For the 2 hours my neighbor says they were there, they made $160 per hour. The prevailing wage rates for a plumber in Lake County on July 2015 were around $48-49/hr. Wish I could get that kind of work. The pipe work was ok, as the segmented the existing pipe to move the check value down and use a rubber coupling to cobble the remaining pieces back together. They should have replaced that section with a solid piece. At those prices I will be shopping.
Quoted us $589...left to get parts, but told us that we could save ourselves $250 (not included in that original $589 quote, mind you) by removing the toilet for them by the time they returned...a process which takes 3 minutes and should've been something they could take care of without charging a thing. They returned with parts, then spent 15-20 minutes fixing a pipe leak. I looked up how much their parts would cost, and all combined were less than $40. When my husband called them a few days later to ask why they charged us so much, they simply said ""experience."" So we were charged over $500 for their ""experience."" We reported them to the BBB, and then a year later, we were having our bathroom remodeled...and a more experienced/honest plumber and an inspector told us that DMR Plumbing did not even glue the pipe together, nor was it done up to code - we've had to rip out everything they did because it would never pass an inspection.
A few months after posting a review on Google, our DMR plumber confronted us in a public parking lot and threatened us with legal action if we didn't remove our review, and also made various other threats and excuses for the poor quality work we received from him. We have several lawyers in our family and know our rights.
They totally took advantage of the fact my basement was flooded. He tried selling me $3200 sump and backup system that should be about half the price. Not very ethical businessmen.
I felt like I was totally taken advantage of by DMR. I was charged $3200 for a job that according to other area plumbers should have cost me about $1600. $1600 was also the amount that they quoted me over the phone, but when they showed up the price had gone up to $3200, which meant they had an hourly rate of about $500. Their work was very good, but since then I've found other plumbers who charge less than half of what they charge and still do good work.
I needed new hot/cold shut off valves installed under my kitchen sink so I decided to call a local plumber in the area without doing any research. This turned out to be a big mistake that cost me $475 for 45 minutes worth of work and this includes a $50 so called coupon. This price quote sounded very high to me but I felt stuck since it would cost me a $90 service call fee to not do the work and I already took the time off work. So I agreed to have the job done. Since the main water valve would need to be shut off I showed Dan that the valve did leak a little over the course of time. He stated he would fix it at no additioanl charge but could not guarnatee how long the fix would last since he would not be replacing the valve. He fixed it and took off my little cup that caught the dripping water. Well, the next day I decided to check on the main valve and to my surprise I had a large puddle on the basement floor that I needed to clean up. Now I have a worse leak then I had before and I will need to hire another plumber to fix what the 1st plumber made worse.
Since I felt I got ripped off by a local plumber I decided to check around and I got quotes ranging from $200-350 which confirmed my suspicion. I then called DMR's main number to voice my dis-satisfaction with their pricing. One of the owners told me that she would send me a check for $150 since I was not satisfied. Two hours later another owner called me and told me that he was sorry that I was not satisfied but that they charge by the job and not by the hour and that he could not help me if I'm still not satisfied?
Its been over two weeks and I have not received the promissed $150 check the 1st owner promissed me? Is it still in the mail...?
I'm not saying to not use DMR plumbing but I'm suggesting you do your homework and watch your wallet if you do call them.
