Daniel Dobkins took advantage of me and ripped me off. I requested that my gas control unit on my water heater be replaced based on the manufacturer's recommendation. I provided the plumber (Daniel Dobkin) the part number to be sure that he brought the correct part. When Dobkin arrived, he tapped on my gas control valve and reset the pilot light. He said that the water heater did not need fixing. But if it did, he showed me the apparently used (obvious signs of use with thread seal tape already on it) gas control valve that he brought. He said that he brought the wrong part (it was too short), but that he could have attached an extension to make the part that he brought fit. However, since he said my water did not need fixing, he did not replace the gas control unit. Instead, after 5-10 minutes, he said I owed him $200 for his diagnosis that my water heater was fine. I chose DB Dobkins, because he lived only about 3 miles from me in our neighborhood. This is why I was surprised that he charged me $200 for not fixing anything. I am posting this review and filed a report with the Better Business Bureau so that others would not be ripped off like I was.

Our Whirlpool water heater stopped working, after reaching out to Dan he suggested we check for a warranty recall. Sure enough, a recall repair was in order. Whirlpool was actually pretty good to work with as well, once a L number was provided Dan took it from there. He not only corrected the recall, he noticed a small hole in our screen and repaired that as well. Great, professional, super service. We hope you enjoy the thank you gift from our family. We most definitely will call you for any of our issues, recall or not! 8)

My relatively new water heater AO smith ( 5 years old with new home ) stopped working today leaving my entire family unhappy about cold showers. I called PG&E because there was a feint odor of gas near the access door on the water heater. They indicated that I would need a new burner assembly. After calling about 5 different plumbing companies none of whom had parts and installation windows around two weeks out I went to the AO Smith website https://www.hotwater.com/service/find-a-service-provider/ punched in my zip code and at the top of the list was DW Dobkin Plumbing. I should have called them first but I called the second listing and they were strictly commercial the I called the 3rd listing and they didn't have a service window available for 2 weeks so I called DW Dobkin. He picked up right away and I gave him the make and model of the water heater and told him that PG&E said I needed a new burner assembly. He gave me pricing information, and said he had one on his truck but had two calls in front of me but could be in my area around 4pm. 4:05 he arrived with the correct parts and had the work done by 5pm Great job Great service. I would highly recommend Dan to anyone needing work done on an AO Smith water heater.

Very professional service and help me with my new water heater. The heater water was not the problem but helped come up a water leak in the hot water line as the problem.

Best service call so far! My Whirlpool water heater went out in my home in Elk Grove and I could not start the pilot lite after so many tries so I called Lowe's where we bought it from, which forwarded the call to the manufacturer. Noticed there was a recall and got a work order number and was referred to DM Dobkin. Dan answered the call and I scheduled an appointment with him. He diagnosed the problem and fixed it. Turned out to be a leaking gas burner, the part being recalled!

This was the best service call I've ever had from any company! My Whirlpool water heater went out after only 3 years so I called the manufacturer and was referred to Dan. He took my call immediately early on a Sunday morning and I had someone (Mike, his son) here less than an hour. Dan explained that Whirlpool doesn't reimburse for overtime calls on the weekend and that it would be $150. I could wait until Monday to have someone out for no charge, but this was the best $150 I ever spent. From the time I made the first call to Whirlpool to when I had the water heater fixed, was about 2 hrs. This is amazing to me. Fortunately for me, this is such a common problem that Mike had the parts with him. This is obviously a great review for Dan and Mike, not so much for Whirlpool as I shouldn't have to have a repair after only 3 yrs. I do have to say at least they jumped on the problem quickly to get someone out and were good to deal with. Now to finish up with Mike. He was the friendliest, most professional person we've ever had in for repairs. He is very knowledgeable and explained (and showed) the problem clearly and put our minds at ease that the problem would be taken care of. He cleaned up the work area and even checked over other aspects of the water heater just to make sure everything else was in order and installed correctly. I can't rave enough about both Dan and Mike. I would definitely recommend them!

The burner/pilot on our Whirlpool water heater went out. Called the warranty/service line and was referred to this company. Unfortunately our water heater was a jerk and went out over the weekend, but Mr Dobkin came out Saturday by the time he said he would and installed the needed part. The only fee was the Saturday charge (he also offered a morning appt on monday but I couldn't wait that long)
We had no issues and had hot water back up & running in minutes
