Driven by dissatisfaction with the service, they convened to outline their core values of their own plumbing company, drawing from lessons learned from working with contractors and individual clients. The result was Affordable Plumbing, which still follows those customer-oriented principles that shape our daily work.

James ""Jim"" Walker began his plumbing journey as an apprentice in Shawnee, Oklahoma, back in 1996. He never missed a chance to master his craft from the basics onward. With a personal commitment to the craftsmanship of plumbing, Jim stays updated on innovations in plumbing solutions that may help our clients by providing fresh solutions to timeless plumbing problems as the industry evolves into the 21st century.

If you are elderly and don't have a lot of money, this company is not for you. I had new granite bathroom countertops installed. I needed new faucets ( 2 - that I had purchased) hooked back up. I called and asked what the charge would be and was told they charged $145 per hour. Then he added that he would just send two workers to get the job done quickly. I didn't realize that I would be charged $145 twice for each hour. Then as I thought they would be finished, they said they had to go and get some kind of hose. They left and I am pretty sure they stopped to eat lunch. They were gone at least 40 minutes and the hourly rate continued. I protested, but got no where. They quickly showed me an itemized bill on a phone and added on $35 for gas and $30 for ""a stocking fee"". Said they would email me an itemized statement - I had to call them twice to get an itemized bill. Total bill was $755 to hook up two brand new faucets. I told them I would shout from the rooftops that they took advantage of me. I would never recommend them to anyone. Other companies I have contacted since have said to always get an estimate for the whole job. Most found this was as outrageous as I did. Don't use this company!!!!

Everybody makes mistakes, but their response to the last mistake is to change their story and take advantage of my wife while I was away on business and when I didn't pay a fee they decided I owed, they will take me to court? I would say they are great for basic work but don't stand behind it. Shady, shady stuff...
UPDATE: I think what's even more revealing about this company is that the folks I spoke with weren't able to understand that I was talking about a conversation she had while people were there on the last trip and not a phone call. It's also interesting to me that they showed up well in advance of the appointment time (when she wasn't there) and came back with an immediate no instead of having a conversation with her, waiting for her to come home (since she would be there during the time the appointment was actually made for instead of the completely different time they showed up, etc). I was able to juggle my work around last minute to accommodate them, but of course there would be miscommunication when you don't keep the scheduled appointment time. That certainly wasted my time today, I can tell you that.
Their negligence cost me about $1,000 in damages, 80% of which was covered by a different company's warranty. This was something they offered to make it right. You can see how that went.
UPDATE 2: Okay, last update, but I have never been in a flame war on the internet before, so I feel like elaborating a little more! Bridget's review represents the same shenanigans as what I'm talking about. So just a few points before I go dark (I will give them the last word, unless they do actually decide to sue me for a charge I never agreed to pay):
- I didn't use profanity, I just refused to pay an extortionate charge. The poor guy is getting bad info from his employees, because anyone who knows me knows I would never use such mild profanity given how they acted. I would have used far more aggressive profanity and dropped a ridiculous number of f-bombs instead had I chosen to express my frustration while they were here.
- Their recordkeeping is as shoddy as the rest of the way they handle unhappy customers. They did not install a new dishwasher; I still have the same piece of crap unit I got with the house in 2006. (It does need work, but I think I'll use someone else, as you can imagine.) Now I wonder if I should ask for a new dishwasher?
- I'm glad to know I could ask them to keep the appointment for the time it was scheduled, and not a completely different time. They didn't call or ask if they could come early, they just sent a text saying they were coming.
- Agree completely we should go our separate ways. Either my wife is a pathological liar (quiet down, peanut gallery :-) or there was a miscommunication, likely due to the aforementioned shoddy recordkeeping.
At the end of the day, the company's response to this review tells the Yelp community all it could need to know. It's all about how you interpret someone's behavior. For Affordable Plumbing, there's no way I could be confused, or have misunderstood something: I must be LYING. There's no way I could have missed something in translation from talking with my wife: I must be trying to STEAL WORK. I must just be a bad apple, and there's no possible way anything I'm saying could have merit.
Anything's possible, I guess.
Excellent service. We were very impressed by the professional service provided by Affordable Plumbing. I would recommend them any day. They showed up right on time and check every single aspect of the plumbing in our bathroom. The price was very reasonable as well.

Affordable Plumbing has provided services. They were prompt and professional. I received phone and text updates concerning who was coming and when they were en route. They had to order parts for a sink and informed me of the progress in getting them. Rick did most of the work and I told him it was a pleasure to meet him, something I've never told a service provider previously! In summary, great communication, quality work, and good price. Hmmm, is five stars enough?

You mentioned that the $95 would be covered in the cost which would be basically zero but you don't understand if I didn't use your services and someone else was cheaper I would still be out $95. But to attack me the way that you did I think it's also unprofessional!!!

I've struggled with this house since we bought it. Sure, we bought it at a steal knowing it's needing work, but we were puzzled why we couldn't use any showers, struggled to use more than one faucet, and just had a bunch of problems. After four plumbers couldn't figure out the problem, we had the city out (at their recommendation) who did a repair and said my water was flowing great, yet I still couldn't take a shower when the dishwasher ran or anything else in the house was in use. A neighbor recommended these guys. They spotted the problem right away. My water service line was bad. I was skeptical, but played along since they guaranteed that this would solve my issue. Guess what, it did. Now we can run every faucet in the house without any problems. They were great guys and did very professional work. Their price was actually less than their estimate and they cleaned up after themselves even after I offered to throw away the roots that they pulled out of the ground. They're great.
