My parents had an excellent experience working with Paul and said he was the best plumber they have ever had.
He came to fix several problems in our bathroom and was committed to finding the true root cause. E.g., we thought we would have to replace our entire faucet fixture and already had one ordered and ready to go, but he ultimately found a blocked pipe. He replaced the pipe and gave us back the time. We were able to return the extra parts while keeping the original aesthetic.
Not to mention, he was incredibly friendly / professional and left everything cleaner than how he found it. Thanks, Paul!

I called dittman's Plumbing because I had a leak in my kitchen sink. Maria who is the owner and who answers the phone very Timely was very kind and said that she would get back to me as soon as she had someone to help me. The gentleman came out and fixed my leak within 20 minutes we're very professional and the problem was fixed completely. I would highly recommend this company to take care of any Plumbing issues in San Mateo or in the nearby peninsula. Very professional very timely and cost-effective thank you. It means I will definitely call you again

Don't use them for sewer backups. Flushes were sounding weird and got them out before a complete back up They didn't find anything but I knew a problem was brewing because of the sound. A couple weeks later everything came up in the yard. They offer no warranty and would not help at all. I would have accepted a discount even. But the lady was mean and when I said Roto Rooter offers 6 month warranty maybe I should use them, she said I should and hung up.

I must deal with an HOA and its management company and general contractor to request repairs and have issues evaluated to determine responsibility. Inside the walls is generally HOA, whereas within the living area is mine. And of course exceptions occur. Pipes are inside the walls, for example, except when a problem is caused by shoddy contractors who flipped the place before you bought it and drove a screw through a copper pipe when securing the vanity to the bathroom wall. This means the root cause was not inside the walls, so all associated work is at the owner's expense.
This was my unfortunate circumstance, and my better half wound up doing most of the work. Otherwise I'm sure I would have been out thousands of bucks. Along the way, though, we encountered another issue, a failed joint inside the wall on a pipe arm leading to the hot water shutoff, which was determined to be HOA responsibility except for replacement of the valve, which is another exception because it is not located inside the wall. Good grief!
Dealing with the management company is not fun. Initially, to assess the initial, more serious, issue of a screwed copper pipe, the general contractor and a plumber from Roto-Rooter spent 2-3 hours knocking holes in the drywall and poking around but didn't arrive at a definitive conclusion as to the source of the leak. In fact, because remnants of the old steel pipes no longer in use remain inside the wall, they first assumed the pipes were steel. Because the issue was eventually determined to be owner responsibility, I will now have to pay for all that wasted and useless but expensive time.
Before Roto-Rooter came, the management company had planned to send Dittmann. However, when I followed up with Dittmann myself, Maria told me that they were simply too busy and in fact had no available appointment time for a week. However, a couple weeks later, after the screw leak was repaired and all other work had to wait till the management company could engage a licensed plumber to fix the minor leak, Dittmann was available right away; in fact, Maria called me and said someone would come that same day.
The plumber who did the work was Paul. He called half an hour before coming out. Initially, he said it would be a difficult job to re-solder that pipe joint because of the tight space under the sink, the pipe's angles, and the proximity of other pipes and the P trap. However, he did a great job anyway. He sprayed down the surrounding area to minimize fire risk since solder must be heated to a very high temperature. He had to throw out the old P trap (which was essentially junk anyway) and was about to replace it with a new steel one, but I showed him the plastic one we already bought and said we'd put that on. So, he was done. He said he used to run his own business but since he's worked for Dittmann he has become more familiar with tight condo spaces.
All in all, my experience with Dittmann Plumbing was very positive. Paul is knowledgeable and definitely has the experience and skill to do a good, thorough job.

I've used Dittmann Plumbing for the past two years for backflow testing. They are reliable, honest and competitively priced. I'd recommend them to my neighbors and friends.

I have used this company for many years and was completely satisfied. That was before the change of ownership. Today I called in to ask them to send me 2 invoices because I had work done on properties where I wasn't present and paid by credit card over the phone, but never received an invoice. It was like I was talking a different language that they didn't seem to understand. Then the man I was talking with had Marie get on the phone. She started out the conversation with ""I don't know what you want, but I'll try and help you"". Hmmm, is that good customer service???? I don't think so! Then I tried to explain that I just needed them to send out invoices for work that was completed. It's not rocket science! But Marie didn't seem to know what I was talking about or wasn't interested in helping and continued with her bad attitude. Then she hung up on me! I called back and couldn't get through for a while. When I finally got through the man said I couldn't talk to Marie because she was too upset and couldn't talk with me. Wow, are you people kidding!!! What kind of business is this where they can't even try to resolve a simple issue. Makes me really wonder what kind of business they are running. Anyway, I am done with Dittmann Plumbing. Found another good plumber already so things worked out for the best.

Great service, competitive pricing. I have used them twice now for two separate incidences and they were great. I would recommend them to anyone in the Bay Area looking for high quality, fast service. Maria is so helpful and makes sure that you get what you need quickly.

I would not use Dittmann Plumbing. I asked for a estimate to replace the shut off valves under each sink in my house. As precaution since my friend's house got flooded when a shut off valve broke, so I thought I should look into replacing all 9 shut off valves in my house. Dittmann Plumbing tried to sell me the ""heavy duty commercial valves"" and telling me those are the only ones they use at $40 each. They wanted $1980 to replace 9 shut off valves telling me that they have to do this and that etc.... This comes to $220 to replace each valve.
Really? Previously, I had someone who was installing new floor in my bathrooms, and he replaced the shut off valves to two toilets because he said they were dripping when he shut them off to remove the toilets. He went to Home Depot and buy the valves at $20 each and never charged me for doing that, and I did pay for the cost of the two valves, but I doubt he would charge $220 for each one.
Later, I found out I didn't even need to replace the shut off valves, but only to turn them on and off monthly. Dittman Plumbing off course never offered that advice.

Don Taylor has really caused my HOA problems by not acting professional and ethical.
My HOA called Dirrmann's for an estimate for a tenant leak and sent someone out to check the leak out. The HOA paid for that visit yet Don Taylor sent a $10,000 (yes! $10,000) estimate and gave it to the tenant. He told the tenant the HOA should pay for re--piping their kitchen even tho he has never see our CCR's. The leak is still there, 2 months after that estimate and the tenants are acting entitled. ALWAYS, ALWAYS, ALWAYS , in the 19 yrs I've lived here, tenants have had to pay for plumbing problems generated from their units. Always.
Now we are having to pay for a lawyer.
I have also filed a complaint with Better Business Bureau.

My second review of Dittmann....
We have now been using them at our campus for about 6 months. In the last week, as we prepare for school to start, we have had a reason to call them for 4 different reasons.
ON-TIME (or earlier)
ON-BUDGET (significantly less on one of the jobs)
EVERYTIME!
Thanks for making my job so easy.
Call Dittmann if you need a reliable and honest plumber!
