UPDATE: A couple months after writing my review, a supervisor contacted me and offered a complete refund, apologizing and stating that is not how they do business. Another associate contacted me a couple minutes later and issued a full refund to my credit card. Good of them to stand behind their word and to satisfy an unsatisfied customer.

Called and asked for an estimate to drain/clean water heater. She said plumber needs to come out in order to estimate. Sounds good.

Plumber comes out and immediately begins working on it. He was nice, but I had already drained the tank and had most of the sediment out before he got there. He told me water heater was bad and I should have them install a new one. I said go ahead and get me a quote. He then finally builds an estimate and adds his charges of draining the water heater (Which was already complete) for $119.00. I am reasonable, and I know he deserves to be paid for the work he did, but remember, I only called for an estimate. So if you choose this company, before anything happens you need to tell plumber the only thing you want is an estimate. Do not allow any work to be completed before you do.

This is the second time I've done business with this outfit and both times were unsatisfactory. The first time, I received a bill for about $300 for replacing a faucet that took about an hour. The service person did not give me an estimate and I should have known better. The second time was to replace a hot water heater. This time, the service was through Lowe's so I had no idea who was coming out. The first words out of the plumber's mouth were ""This doesn't include code upgrades and that will cost you another $300.""

I called Lowe's back and they said they'd cover it. When the job was done, I asked the plumber what exactly wasn't covered since I could see the hookup looked exactly like the old hookup. He said it didn't include turning off the gas and water or draining the hot water heater. Those are NOT code upgrades but simply what must be done to replace a hot water heater. So, these guys were going to charge $575 to take out an old heater and put in the new one. Wow. A great business to be in. A couple of hours buys them almost $600. I'd rather deal with local plumbers who routinely charge $80-$100 per hour and don't try to scam people with the misnomer of 'Discount Plumbing."" There's nothing discount about this company.

Read the other reviews and I think you'll see that lots of folks feel exactly the same.

David Parra was AMAZING!!!!! I Would recommend him and this location to anyone needing work or maintenance done. I had a major water leek in my house so I went in to set a time for someone to come and give me an estaminet and they had someone come out that afternoon. Dave showed at to the house and within 30 mins told me what he could see without opening any walls and what the job would start at. He then set to come out next day and make some small openings where the water damage was to asses the damages further. When he was done he gave us a COMPLETE job total the included all the repairs to the plumbing work and fixing the damage that was caused by the leek! This company and workers do a complete job from start to finish and not matter how long it took and what they found beside the original problem they fixed it all and the cost never changed. Dave was great, he has a great personality and very honest with you about the job and things needed to be done to repair everything correctly. He even went above to help out with paper work to show in detail all the work done to fix the repair on paper to help with filling the report for insurance reimbursement. I can't say enough good things about Dave and his crew, all I know is should I ever need anything done again I won't call anyone else! Thank you Dave and Discount Plumbing for doing such great job!

About a month back a nice gentleman by the name of Dave, I believe came to my moms home and replaced a faucet and some other replacing of old pipes. He was not only friendly, very kind and us being women he was able to explain to us in very well detail what needed to be done and why. We did not feel like he was trying to upsale or get over on us in any way. Such Great service that I called when I needed work done on my home, but unfortunately they do not come to the San Jose area. :( wish I had an honest company like this one to do my plumbing, or maybe even someone just as friendly as him. I'd definatley recommend this company, especially the man who helped us! Thanks a lot. :)

Never again! I wasn't home and the plumber came out and upsold my wife for a garbage disposal we did not need. That and a faucet came to $900! The plumbers seem to be trained in marketing and scare tactics. I have since found another plumbing company and cannot recommend Discount Plumbing.

I signed up on yelp to post this review.

I'm frankly embarrassed about being taken by Discount Plumbing.

I fell for it all - no estimate, no signed contract, lots of ""don't worry, we'll take care of you"", etc... based on the trust I had developed in the plumber/conman's previous visit for a drain cleaning and his friendly patter. And, in the end, $2000 for replacing a water heater and some minor, adjacent and associated pipe rerouting. When questioned about the price, the plumber/conman pulled out his glossy laminated ""handbook"" that, wink, wink, he was ""not supposed to show me"" - even though it was obviously prepared for the consumer/sucker's perusal - to prove to me that his ""standard rate"" is, as shown in the ""handbook"", $400 per hour.

On the good side, it was decent but not professional quality workmanship. Needless to say, I'd avoid this outfit at all costs (it cost me about $1000 more than it should have).

We spent nearly a week trying to snake out our own plumbing issues to no avail. We called Discount Plumbing although they were tied up that night, they were out first thing the next morning. Frank, the plumber, asked us questions to try to pinpoint the problem. He quickly got to work and had us flushing in no time! He was friendly and fast at the job. Very happy with the service.

Called for a quote and we were told 4:30 pm, when they didn't show up we called back and were told it was a time range 4:30pm to 6pm. 6pm came and went, we called back again and pressed for a telephone quote. The price was super high! We found a price for more then 30% less and if Discount would have leveled with us and said they would be really late, we could have called the other service earlier and got service the same day. Now we are without hot water for the second night in a row. =(

After repairing the sewer line, Frank Hampton, of Tracy Discount Plumbing told my parents (George 89 yrs and Ruth 85yrs Briggs) that the side walk now looks old and dirty and gave a quote of $1600 to replace it. My mother informed me of this and I asked to see the contract. Frank did not want to have a paper trail as he was performing this work on his own. Next, Frank had my 89 year old father ride with him to fill up his truck with gas or he ""can not complete the sidewalk and it will stay that way"" A little later that day Frank had my dad accompany him to Home Depot and pay for the materials needed to pour the side walk.
When my mother called crying over this person treating them this way I called to complain to Discount Plumbing. I spoke to Mark. I did not want Frank Hampton coming back to my parents home to intimidate them any more. Mark assured me he would not. Frank came to my parent's home again! To ask why they did not want the work completed.
Mark said he would take care of Frank again and also gave us a quote of $1000.00 (his cost) to replace the sidewalk. I obtained a quote from another cement contractor for $785.00
Mark from Discount Plumbing had the dirt removed. Mark wanted to give my parent $100 to buy flowers and $80 for the gas and supplies that my father had to buy. After speaking several times with Mark and learning he was going to give them $135 I said they should have at least $300 for the plants and $80 for cost. What also disturbs me is Discount plumbing also does landscaping. Mark did not offer to repair this damage but to give my elderly Mother and Father so they could do the work.
