So I called this company today to see about getting a quote and spoke to their answering team. The guy that answered informed me that he didn't know if they gave free quotes or not. So I asked what their hours were as online here it says 24hrs a day. He informed me that they are open from 7:30am-5pm on Mondays...It was 4:40pm. Would you do business with a company who closes whenever they feel like it? No thanks!

The plumbers are great if they show up. My only toilet isn't working and they not only couldn't schedule me for the day I called (which I understood), they missed their window day 2 and then told me if I didn't want to wait 5 more days, I could pay their overtime rate. And the ""manager"" John laughed at me when j suggested that since they missed their 2 hour window and I was home the whole time, they should figure out how to fit me in. The worst - more disturbing since the issue is management. SPADARO is coming in an hour.

I called DH Stevens in the morning and made an appointment for the next day to fix my toilet. To my surprise, they called me that afternoon and were able to swing by. The tech, Alex, went above and beyond to fix the issue and DH Stevens worked out a reasonable price for all the effort that he put in! I highly recommend them and will definitely be using them again if there are problems in the future!

Was told that ""this company does not do any work on AC units."" The listing seems a bit misleading then, when it clearly states HVAC and air conditioners.

Our management company has used them for the 15+ years that we've lived in our building--and we've had uneven service over that time. We tend to like most of the actual work that they perform, and the folks who come out to do the work--we'd give them a B overall. My wife recommends Julio in particular as someone with a great work ethic and pleasant manner. But they don't seem to be managed well. From an operational standpoint, we'd give the guys back in the home office a D. They need some project management training, as well as customer service training (including the co-owner John. Just a hint, John: Have Dallas take more calls. She's significantly nicer to your customers). They don't seem to be able to meet their designated service window times, and each time they are late we've had to be the one to call to find out if they are even coming at all. For example, if they say your service window on a particular day will be 8-10a (and these are jobs were booked a week or more in advance), we hear nothing and finally call them at 10a, asking when they are coming. Then we're told they will be there in a half hour... or so. And then they think it's ok to be condescending and annoyed with us for calling, explaining that scheduling is hard when you have 15 trucks and that they are juggling multiple clients. Um, really? Isn't that your job? Isn't that what your business is expected to do? And paid to do? Again, by their own account, this is what they do every day, so telling us that it's hard--and in an exasperated tone when we've only been cordial and had to be the ones to call to check in the first place--seems like a pretty basic business mistake. Customers are usually understanding--if you bother to call them and say that you are running late. And customers are usually ok with scheduling mistakes--if they aren't a consistent problem. But the attitude combined with the mistakes makes it hard to give them a good review. Too bad, really, since we both like the folks who come out and perform the actual work.

I love Stevens' Plumbing, have been using them for years, they're clear, specific, explain everything to me and easy on the eyes too. More than that, they're honest, and if they find something wrong that they did not come for, they fix those little glitches too without charging me.

DH Stevens Company Stands Behind their Work

My most recent use of the Stevens company plumber was today when they dispatched Alejandro to repair a leak in a toilet tank. Alejandro is polite, friendly and helpful. He is also thoroughly knowledgeable, and came equipped with all the tools a parts needed. After he'd been here for a few minutes I stuck my head in and said something like, ""Hey, Doctor, do you have a diagnosis?"" He was extracting a part from its packaging at the moment, and he explained exactly what the part was -- a fill valve -- and that the problem was a faulty gasket at the bottom. As it happened, Stevens had replaced the same part (for a different reason) about a year ago. I mentioned this to Alejandro, who checked with his office when he was making out the bill. They looked up my records and charged me nothing!

I should also note that we live in a 168 unit high rise in downtown DC. The desk staff tell me that Stevens is by far the most frequently used plumbing service here.

I highly recommend them! They are experienced and HONEST!

I was able to arrange a visit within 48 hours. They gave me the estimate over the phone $75 for the visit and the half-hour/hourly rate. It took the plumber less than 20 min to solve my clog. He showed me how I could de-clog in the future, and I was very impressed that he was honest and helpful! I realize that I might have had a few too many bad plumbing experiences...

He charged me $65 for the visit and then less than the half-hour rate quoted over the phone.
Overall, $135 was a great deal.

*do not ever call Roto Rooter, they won't tell you the fees over the phone. And, they scam you. I was charged $420 for snaking a sink and tub. The plumber said he was only charging me for one service, but I'm pretty sure it was a scam.

I have found my DC plumber. Professional, clean and great work! I had to have my tub snaked, new shower head installed, but the real 5 stars are for the installation of my hot water heater. Its in an extremely tight space - they found an old model that would fit and spent over six hours making sure it was right. Steve kept his sense of humor and made sure everything was working to my liking before he left. I could not have had better service for a fair price
