Vanessa P.The Christopher Condo Property Management did an emergency call out around 11am today Sub due to a leak from 2nd floor to 1st floor unit (damaged badly) leaking into basement area that was reported Thurs and a tech came Fri to inspect.
This plumber guy came out with an haughty attitude apparently tired and overworked and was very impatient he didn't have time to listen just rudely asking is it active is it active...he carried that attitude into someone's home on the 2nd floor. His tone became very upsetting to me and I let him know I'm the customer that called you out and paying you! He cursed me saying much and called his supervisor Stan Foley handing me phone saying you want to report me go ahead.
Lauren L.We used the emergency service for our busted, leaking water heater - they talked us through some troubleshooting on the phone to save us an expensive late night visit. The next morning they came first thing and fixed the water heater in a matter of hours, and didn't even charge us for labor or for the expansion tank and valves they replaced.
Check their materials pricing ! They marked up a garbage disposal by 50% over Home Depot's price.
John C.Called DH Stevens after my gas water heater exhibited some not great signs of venting issues. They sent a guy out right away to take a look and plan for a potential replacement. He spent a while diagnosing it, explained that it looked like a chimney issue, and confirmed that I should contact a chimney sweep. As long as the problem can be solved that way, no need to replace the water heater. So he didn't try to upsell me and didn't even charge me for his time! Really appreciate that level of professionalism and will be calling DH Stevens for all my plumbing needs.
I'd give zero stars if I could. Hired Stevens to clear my french drains. Cancelled our first appointment late the afternoon before. So, I rescheduled. I called to see if they did the work late in the day and they didn't know. Ultimately, they informed me that the pipes needed to be dug up and replaced. I hired Roto Rooter to clear them, which they did.
Then a week later Stevens called to charge me for multiple hours of work they did failing to clear the drains. Why'd they do the work if they couldn't do it? And if it could be done, how is it that another company managed it.
Contractors in the DMV are the worst. Sadly, Stevens has joined the fray of poor contractors.
We have been using this company for the better half of a year to fix minor plumbing issues in our older home. Four months ago, they came over for several hours to diagnose an issue with a toilet backing up. They advised us that we should hire a contractor to dig up our entire back deck to the tune of $6,000 in order to fix a sewer line they had (we later found) improperly identified. Thankfully, we got second and third opinions and resolved the issue for $600 with another plumber. We did however pay the bill for their ""time"" incorrectly diagnosing the problem and received a receipt of payment.
Cut forward four months, a large man named Mike shows up unannounced banging on our front door, demanding payment. My husband explained that we paid them and showed him the receipt and explained that in any event, had we used them we would've been out $6,000 with no solution. The man became visibly upset and got in my husband's face, demanding payment despite the paid receipt. We ultimately convinced him to leave and stopped just short of calling the police.
Needless to say, stay far away from this shady company unless you want unannounced threatening visits. Knowing that this man has our address I am still fearful for our safety and unsure if or when he will turn up again looking for more money.
I don't often write Yelp reviews but I feel motivated to share the good experience we had once again with D. H. Stevens Plumbing. The technician, John F, was very professional and efficient. He was also friendly and clearly enjoyed being helpful. He replaced two toilet fill valves, cleared a few drains and took care of some other repairs. I highly recommend this company and John F.
Rachel S.Called the main number needing emergency services as my kitchen sink was actively overflowing and was told dispatch would call me back with an ETA. Two days later now and no one has called me back.
Can't really justify the 1 star since they couldn't be bothered to show up to give me an estimate for a major sewer replacement project. Had an appointment and they just didn't show up. Didn't call either. Looks like I dodged a bullet.
Scheduled with them to replace the gutters and snake a drain from the gutters. Told it would be less than a week. They send someone who tells us, oh, sorry, we can't actually replace your gutters. Fine. We contract with someone else for that. Then, nearly two weeks later, after multiple calls, they send someone for the other job with investigating the drain. The guys take two photos from outside the house, don't bother to knock on the door so we never see them (a workman outside urged them to actually knock since we were home, but they refused), and don't snake the drain because ""they can't."" And still charge us. Oh, and stuck a flyer on the house advertising other services. Abysmal. We've disputed the credit card charge and will be looking elsewhere.
