Allen Bunker, the contractor they frequently worked with, overcharged me for plumbing and ran, leaving me with a half finished kitchen. I used the company for kitchen gut renovation.
I asked the plumbing company to bill Allen the amount he overcharged me and I will settle the rest, so we could finish the work. The plumbing company declined to do so, saying Allen Bunker was no longer on the contract.
I then asked the plumbing company for the contract, so I know what's left to be done. Got declined again.
I then sent them a detailed list of things and wanted to confirm those will be covered in the remaining work. Plumbing company said I was too difficult to work with and said they would cancel the permit. Well how else do I know what I am paying for?
Finally, the company said they would take me to court for slander if I post negative reviews about them. I view my requests as reasonable and I can back up what I said. Sounds like they need to bring a lot of people to court then.
All the time they sided with Allen (from their actions mentioned above) while insisting that they don't want to get involved in this. I want to post this as a warning for future customers who go through MacCleod plumbing through Allen Bunker. Have fun!
V W.I have used DH Macleod for several water heater replacements over the past 15+ years, some new baseboard heating units, and a furnace repair. Always on time, responsive, and with quality work. Highly recommended!
Sylvie G.They are very professional. They answer/ return your call. They were able to come on short notice. And the job seems to be well done. Thank you Macleod plumbing.
A truly terrific company! I can always get expert, professional service on short notice---and no job is too big or too small.
The company owner came to my home to do an informal audit of another company's (very shoddy) plumbing work. He spent a couple hours with me, gave helpful comments and suggestions on code violations and other suboptimal work product. He never charged me for his time or expertise---just being tremendously helpful.
We've been loyal DH Macleod customers ever since!
One reviewer commented on the price. I don't think DH is the cheapest option available, but I've never felt gouged---and the work product has always been flawless. I do not know anything about plumbing, so I am willing to pay a little bit more to get professional people who I can trust to do the job right the first time. I've tried cheaper plumbing companies and the follow-up / call-back problems and hassles are just never worth it.
Dana and everyone from DH MacLeod are fantastic. They are fair prompt friendly and the most professional plumbers I have ever worked with. They have done a number of different jobs for me from replacing hot water heater's to fixing leaks installing new washers and dryer's. Everything they have done has been superb and I could not ask for anything more from a plumbing service. I give them the highest recommendation.
Jay C.Way too expensive! Paid $270.00 for 1 1/4 hours of work installing new gas oven. Installer worked hard and did what appears to be a good job ( I'm not a plumber so what do I know), but WOW $270.00 for a little over an hour of labor. Charged for full second hour even though he was only here for about 15 minutes over the first hour. $150.00 for first hour and bless their souls they only charged $120.00 for the second hour which was actually only for 15 minutes :-(
Thea B.We have been using McLeod for several years and are very happy with them. I had a problem with something on Labor Day and I was quickly able to reach someone who could help. He probably spent 15 minutes talking to me about the problem. Everybody who has come to our house has been polite, competent and punctual.
Ilisa O.I have been doing business with DH Macleod for years. Dana, Matt and Mike are true professionals. Dependable, Honest. Reputable. What more can I say? Did I mention they do a fabulous job. And they leave my house spotless.
A shout out to Sharon as well.!! . She scheduled my work and followed up.
Very happy customer.
My daughter recommended DH MacLeod when I needed a quick job done on a faulty outside hose hookup. My much loved garden was dying in the terrible heat and this company quickly sent one of their guys, Dave, who did a great job and also fixed two related problems. The bill was fair and both Dave and the office scheduling staff (shout out to Sharon: Thanks!) were easy to work with and very friendly.
I was so pleased with the service that i had them do a second job -- replacing a toilet in the bathroom. They helped me find a cost effective toilet that vastly improves daily life -- because it's a comfort level style, good for this old lady with knee replacements and a fixed retirement income. The installer on the second job was Mike, who gladly put on floor protecting booties and was careful not to let my escape artist kitty run out the door. He did a great job, and fixed a wobbly sink too!
Beware of the owner's cunning approach. Initial work was good. Follow on work was substandard and overpriced. We spent about $20k and will be getting someone else to fix what they didn't do right.
