Bill S.Annual heating equipment cleaning and checkup went well. Drained my water heater was fine too. Came on time. Did a great job.
Shad L.Very expensive and not very experienced with geothermal heat pumps. They came without the needed tools to correctly diagnose the issue and weren't even aware there was a tool. Charged $450 just to tell me there was an issue and then wanted to charge me $3k to repair a part that was still under warranty. To replace the part they needed the same tool that should have been used to diagnose the issue and wanted me to pay for that tool as well. STAY AWAY if you own a geothermal heat pump.
C H.This is the company for your HVAC needs. I have had a semiannual service contract with them for nearly two years. I developed an operational issue with my AC system. Through knowledge and sleuthing, their awesome service experts ferreted out the problem and quickly solved it. Scheduling service is simple and appointment are verified via text. Please check them out for all your HVAC needs.
Quick disclaimer. I am in no way affiliated with this company or connected with any of the employees. I'm just a happy and satisfied customer.
DO NOT RECOMMEND. I hired these guys to come put an end cap on a broken pipe to seal it up because I didn't have the proper tools to do the job. A service technician came out and spent 3 hours putting on a pvc end cap, a rubber gasket, and two metal clamps. He spent an hour and 45minutes at the Homedepot, 5minutes away. Then spent another hour playing on his phone while he had me dig the hole and run his power tools. After the job was ""done"" and the pipe was ""not leaking anymore"" he charged me $287. The guy did maybe 10minutes of actual work, and as soon as he left the pipe began leaking again. He used my tools, stole my tools, and then when he was called about the whereabouts of my tools he denied taking them. I called the company to ask them what was going on and they told me they would return my call, they never did. The service manager came out to fix the pipe and got the job done in 15minutes. But had no answers to the where abouts of my tools or what was going on with their technician.
Mr. C.Friday night in December and it seems a little cold inside. And sure enough hear isn't working. A call to Design Comfort and less than an hour later a technician is onsite. Less than an hour later heat is working. Time for a cocktail and movie.
KC S.I've been a customer with this company for 37 years and so disappointed to be charged $295 for a furnace servicing that was supposed to be $95. Reluctantly I paid an additional $200 (servicing didn't include any kind of work to find something that needed fixing) to get a ""what's broken?""diagnosis that my thermostat needed replacing. However that $200 diagnosis has proven to be incorrect. The next day after turning the furnace, thermostat and breakers off and then turning them back on the ""broken"" thermostat was working perfectly. Unbelievable. To recap DC told me I needed a new thermostat and said their cheapest one installed would be $583. What??!? The thermostat was an inexpensive Honeywell. The people are very nice (one star) but that does not make up for the overcharges to consumers especially one that has been supporting them since 1985. Go somewhere else.
I bought a Lennox G61MPV-60C-090 2 Stage Variable Speed furnace along with a 16 Seer Lennox Doublestage A/C. They were installed 31 Jul 2008. There was a 5 year warranty. These are nice, expensive units. The fellow that installed the furnace was very nice, but apparently new as he had a few struggles on installation requiring another fellow to come out and help. (Not to mention that he damaged a wall which they subsequently repaired.) When he started the A/C up upon leaving - it was summer - the fan made a bit of a lugging noise, which I asked about. He told me that it was a normal sound as it was a variable speed fan - which I knew. Figuring he should know more than myself, I went with his explanation. I have had the unit cleaned twice (not by this company but using specials from other companies) and have washed the reusable filter many times.
Earlier this summer in late June and July, the power went out several times, and whenever it would come back on, the fan would not re-engage. By pounding on the outside of the unit, I could get it to start again. Then it was fine until the next outage. I think we had 5 or 6 outages, and every time - same thing. When I had a company out to clean the furnace, I mentioned this to them. They looked everything over and ended up pulling the computer panel which they said had a default in the power relay to the fan when the A/C was engaged. They demonstrated to me that the fan would make a lugging sound upon start up - nothing new as previously mentioned - and said that this was not normal and was probably related to the inability of the fan to start at all if the power to the unit had been cut off. I told them that the fan had made that sound since installation and they suggested I call the original company since I was currently 2 weeks out of warranty. So I called Design Comfort who sent Jason out. He was very polite - the reason they get one star - but after talking with his boss on the phone said they would be happy to sell me a new board for $550 for the part. He also explained that if I had been on their service plan, they might have been able to work with me. Now in my experience, warranties don't depend on service plans and it shouldn't even have been a matter of warranty if the part was defective from the get go. I told him this and he said he would talk to the owner. The owner repeated that they would be happy to sell me a new board. I said that I wanted to talk to him directly. Two days later Eric, not the owner, called me (and was polite) and basically said the same thing. I told him that I felt that they should speak with Lennox about this since it would seem that there was an undiscovered problem with the board since the beginning. I felt that since they demonstrably sell a lot of Lennox products, that the parent company might be willing to give us a little love on this one. He said that he would see. I have not heard anything else from this Design Comfort. I'm sure they are hoping that I will go away or spend $550 for the new part.
In addition, since the installation of this furnace, the flooring has become warped and water damaged. The cleaning company said that the condensation trap was improperly installed. Design Comfort has convinced themselves that the trap is fine and say that they don't think the furnace is causing the water damage in this closet. I am not trying to get them to repair the closet floor or replace the part of the NEW furnace that has rusted through on the bottom, I just asked them to install the trap properly - and they said it was. So they did make 2 trips to my house, but did nothing but look at things and pour water in the condensation pipe to see if it would run out.
I am very disappointed in the response of this company. A polite ""no"" is still ""no.""
