The HVAC unit on my small commercial building needed to be replaced so I called 3 companies to get an estimate for a new unit. I chose to deal only with companies who would provide a free estimate. I arranged for an estimate from Western Mechanical and was told nothing about a fee, or I wouldn't have had them come out. It took over a week to get an appointment. Then on the appointed day, the tech called looking for my location in Rio Rancho where he was sent by their dispatch, even though my building is in downtown Albuquerque. It was another week before they rescheduled at the correct location, and when they did, instead of the requested estimate the tech did a hasty unauthorized repair on my unit and charged me $198.49.

Since no fees or repairs were authorized, I made multiple calls to Western to question the charge but could not get past the receptionist to talk to anyone and was put on endless holds. Only after receiving a threat to be sent to collections, was I finally able to speak to accounts payable. They claimed they had informed me of the fee in advance, which is completely untrue as I would not have agreed to it, and were unwilling to budge on the charge which I never authorized.

If you choose to work with Western Mechanical, beware of hidden fees and be sure to get all costs in writing up front.
