There's nothing quite as annoying as getting a clogged sink on a holiday - like July 4, in the late afternoon. So, I figure, we can wait until July 5 and not be charged 2 horses and our left leg for after hours service. I began calling plumbers early in the morning. Even the ones who claim they have same day service, if not same hour service, were all very nonchalantly saying they wouldn't be able to get out until the 6th. Some of them said the 8th. Eventually, I called someone (and I wish I could remember his name!), who said he couldn't get out, but gave me the name of a friend of his who also did plumbing. I called him, and he also said he couldn't get out, but gave me HIS friend's number! Wish I could remember his name too. But, the name he gave me was Brandon at Dependable Plumbing. Brandon was at our house within an hour or so. He unstoppped a VERY stubborn drain (note to self and others - a garbage disposal is badly named - you're actually NOT supposed to put large amounts of garbage in it :/ ) and had us up and running again. His charge? $100. I've had plumbers charge me almost that to just walk in the door. I will be keeping Brandon's number for the next time I forget that I shouldn't put half an onion, 4 tomatoes, and leftover steak in the garbage disposal.
