I have a warranty contract with American Home Shield to cover my furnace. I called the warranty company who indicated Dempsey Oil would be reaching out to me which they did in a timely manner, scheduled appt. and technician arrived on time to diagnose issue and informed me the furnace would need replacing. I still had heat available to me. Everything went down hill from here.
Dempsey Oil contacted me with an estimate to install the new furnace from the Warranty company and indicated it would cost $ 4995.00 for modifications to install the new furnace even though I had electrical, ductwork in place and gas lines currently for my furnace. After speaking with my warranty company for possible cash option for the new furnace I determined it was cost effective to go with Dempsey since Dempsey Oil is only contractor American Home Shield would allow me to use. BIG MISTAKE!!!!!!!
Once I contacted Dempsey concerning the high estimate they indicated all was necessary to install properly. We agreed on the price quoted and scheduled a date. When I inquired if we can postpone until the weather was warmer due to the fact I obtained other quotes and all heating companies indicated it would take 1 1/2 - 2 days of no heat, Dempsey PROMISED me it would only take 1 day to install. Will get there early and not leave until i have heat.
Informed me technicians would be there between 7-9 am. I waited and at
10:30 first technician showed up. Company never called me to indicate their technicians would be late. When I spoke with the technician directly he stated they always have meeting that morning and did not know why someone scheduled it so early. I went to work and when i arrived home in afternoon still working on furnace, no heat when they left at 7:00 pm. Stated bad switch on new furnace, did not have another switch on truck and it was too late to get another. Asked what am i supposed to do now with no heat, wife and large dog. OFFERED NO ASSISTANCE. Did tell me will be back first thing in the morning. My wife and i decided tough it out with my large dog since it was difficult to find a hotel to accomodate us all. Technician showed up next day at 12:30 and worked on furnace. I received a call from Dempsey home office stating technician tried to call me and that the furnace Still not working properly, again no heat. OFFERED NO ASSISTANCE WHAT SO EVER TO HELP!!!!! Again stayed in cold house with my wife and large dog.
Third day their technicians showed up early and worked on new furnace and by the afternoon i had heat. I followed up with the company and inquired if they would offer me any compensation for ALL the inconveniences i encountered since they promised me the repair in 1 day and it took 3. Response was NO.
So in recapping PROMISED ME TO REPLACE THE FURNACE IN 1 DAY TOOK 3 DAYS WITH NO HEAT. OFFERED ME NO ASSISTANCE TO ACCOMODATE ME WHEN I HAD NO HEAT.
I will be contacting American home Shield that i probably will not be renewing my contract with them since Dempsey Oil is their only contracted repair company.
I strongly suggest you use ANYONE else to make repairs for your heating problems. Only wish i can select ZERO star rating.

I honestly don't understand all the negative reviews for this company. I called them yesterday because my furnace wasn't working, and they came out today and got it running. In fact they called me and said they had an earlier opening--very convenient! Tim, the tech they sent, was knowledgeable. He got the furnace working and then emailed us some estimates for preventative repairs that would reduce risk of furnace failing again in the near future. So here's the problem: Dempsey quoted me $682 for a replacement control board. I did my research and they retail at anywhere from $78 to $140. A bit overpriced??? Same for the flame sensor and inducer motor.

Dempsey Oil was issued a contract repair order from my warranty company American Home Shield to repair my furnace. A Dempsey Oil representative came out to my home on 4-28-21 and accessed the furnace. The representative determined that parts would be needed to repair the furnace. I was told a work order had to be submitted to my warranty company to authorize the parts. Dempsey Oil representative returned to my home on 5-6-21 to complete the work order. At the time the unit seemed to be operational a short time later I noticed the same problematic issue with the furnace. I called my warranty company and they submitted a work order to Dempsey Oil to contact me and set up time to look over the furnace. I have made a number of calls to 617-469- **** which is the number provided to me by American Home Shield as the best contact number to speak to someone at Dempsey Oil. I have left multiple messages for a return call but never has anyone reached out to me. I finally get a Dempsey Oil representative on the phone and I was told the company can no longer continue to provide service because my home is too far out for them to travel? In additional I was told it would require one of their representative too much time in their day to work on my furnace? Also they are too busy to schedule me in a reasonable amount of time?
I asked the representative I could understand if I was a new client and your company never touched my furnace than I would need to wait until you could book me the next available appointment. The reality is the Dempsey Oil representative took responsibility for the furnace once he touched my unit and installed parts. Why did Dempsey Oil take the job if I live too far? The job requires more than one visit so now it has become problem? The idea that I now have to locate another contractor and have them come to my home to go over work that has already been started by Dempsey Oil seems expensive. All I want is my furnace repaired if I can have that I will never darken the door steps of this company ever again. Will my family have to suffer any longer at the lack of professionalism that this company has displayed. I don't have money to burn and this is going to cost me....what is my time worth?
I don't know how anyone else experience has been with Dempsey Oil but I would strongly suggest learning from my nightmare of a lesson. If this can be done to me and the issue is still ongoing it can happen to you as well. You have been warned take you money to a company that will stand by their work..
