Deljo Heating and Cooling
Company Overview
With over 100 years of experience, Deljo Heating and Cooling has a deep-rooted history in the heating and cooling field. Over the years, we have served two generations of local residents and business owners in the Chicagoland area, providing high-quality HVAC services. Our dedication to quality ensures that our clients remain comfortable through the harsh winters and sweltering summers.
In 1922, Del-Nard Fuel Oil laid the groundwork for what would become Deljo Heating and Cooling. The company offered complete furnace cleaning and repair services throughout Chicago, quickly earning a reputation for exceptional service. Over the following 60 years, it fulfilled the heating requirements of its neighbors, effectively laying the groundwork for the next chapter in the brand's story.
Bob Clement joined the company in the early 1980s, purchasing the respected business and assuming leadership. This modest five-person team upheld the tradition of excellent service that had defined the Del-Nard brand. Eventually, Bob invited his brother Bill to join him, and together, they propelled the business to new heights. The cooperative effort between the Clement brothers gradually transformed into the large family-owned operation that Deljo Heating and Cooling is today. The initial legacy provided a robust base for the company's ongoing success.
Bob and Bill Clement, owners for the last three decades, have dedicated their lives to the HVAC industry. Deljo, being family-owned and operated, ensures that both employees and customers are treated with familial care.

Had AC lines that were freezing up so we called American Home Heating and Air that we have used for the past 15 years to send someone out. My wife handled setting up the appointment and I guess this place bought American's phone number when they closed up shop because they were the ones that showed up to look at the unit. Well we were quoted $375 to replace a capacitor (which runs about $8 on Amazon and is secured by 2 screws and 2 quick connect wires) and $708 to clean the blower fan motor. No breakdown of labor, parts, time etc...just a number. It was also suggested that we speak to a 'comfort specialist' about replacing our entire system as it was 'old'. Obviously we went a different direction.
Another company comes out takes 5 minutes to figure out the blower motor has some electrical issue and is running too slowly therefore not moving enough air and needs to be replaced. 60 minutes later the motor and mounting bracket are replaced the system is recharged and everything is once again running great. Cost us $380 for new motor, mount, capacitor and system recharge.
To be fair, the gentleman that made the service call from Deljo was extremely professional, neat, kind, punctual and well spoken. He was upfront about the costs as well but didn't really have any answers for why the prices quoted were so high. We paid the fee for the service visit and let him know we would not be moving forward with them.
There are far better options available in this trade space. Look for the guys with several hundred 5 stars Yelp reviews instead of this 3.5 star company. You'll save yourself a lot of money.
**I live in Chicago, IL. Don't know why it says San Fran on the review?
Excellent as always. On time, cheerful, proffesional, everything clearly explained.
Have been a Deljo goldstar customer for many, many years. They are consistently helpful and professional. Everyone from the office staff to the maintenance/repair team to the sales support are well trained and courteous. The few problems we've had in 20+ years have been addressed promptly and completely. I trust the Deljo team and recommend them highly.
Ozzie O.Tech tells me cleaning my unit was going to stop my furnace from shutting down. Quoted me $2,200. Blown away by the price but below zero temps so they take advantage knowing there's no choice. I asked if 100% sure that would fix my issue as I do not want to pay all that for nothing. I was told YES. after the cleaning I am told ""well looks like the issue might be something else""!!! Tech tells me he will call his boss to see if he can reduce the cost since he was wrong. Of course his greedy boss doesn't back up what his own tech guaranteed and says no. Here am below zero temps, $2,200 down the drain and freezing with kids in the house. It's disgusting how these clowns just steal by lying. Their justification was ""well your unit was going to need the cleaning eventually anyway"". I NEED HEAT NOW NOT WORRIED ABOUT EVENTUALLY!!
Update. New HVAC company fixed my furnace today within 30 min. All I needed was a $90 dampener. My unit is working perfect now. Service I received yesterday was not needed and what I was told was untrue. my heat exchanger wasn't fully cleaned yesterday even though 1150 of the 2200 I paid was for that. I had it checked. The written recommendation to have my unit replaced I was told is ridiculous. My unit was built in 2018. All excuses given to me by Deljo were after they charged me 2200. Had they said it before their ""guarantee"" I would have declined service.
Yes, they got my furnace up and running. But, it was highway robbery. I have used this company twice now and only in an emergency when I couldn't get any other HVAC company. Literally, not even from the suburbs. This vendor is the very last one I go with because every-time the rake me across the coals.
This time I was banged almost $300 for cleaning a flame sensor. You may ask...how hard is this? Let me tell you. Often, it is 1 screw, removal
of a metal prong sensor and then using a wire brush, sand paper or special cloth to clean soot off the sensor. Then re-install. The job takes all of 15 mins. 30 mins tops. To be generous it's 45 mins after arriving on-site and diagnosing. Had I been in town, I would have done this in my own. But, nope, got it busted off in my ass for being on site 35 minutes and wire brushing a metal rod the size of a paper clip.
Save your money and go with anyone else but this company u less you feel like paying a kings ransom.
Rococo R.Had a tech come come out to my home because I had no heat for 3 days. Tech proceeds to read previous notes from last repair and says he can not do anything because it's too dangerous and difficult to fix. Charged me $109 !!!! This could have been done before someone came out instead of on-site. I ask why.. tech tells me why by reading notes from previous tech. I ask for the notes because we just purchased home and information was held from us by previous owners. The owner of Deljo Bob refused to give info, only way would being subpoenaed by a lawyer. Then I ask them to have a sales person come out to give me quote because my family is without heat. They quote me a crazy price because they knew I was desperate.... I called another company had then come the next day and install the same quoted furnace for $3000 less. Stay away from this company !! They only care about their pockets. I am out $109 and no chance at getting money back from previous owners because of Bob. Hope you are happy by Treating families this was during these difficult times. Shame on you Deljo
These guys are a bunch of crooks. Their prices are 2-3 times higher than the other quotes I got. They want to replace every part regardless of whether it needs to be replaced or not. They recommended replacing 4 parts for $2500, the parts are approx $300. Another company went in in 1 Day, replaced 2 parts for $550 (those 2 parts would have been $1158 at Deljo).
I will start off saying the work performed was good. But the price!! $3300 to replace a water heater. I looked up the model online at best $1500. Techs were on site 4-5hrs.(Sat in their truck for an hour waiting for parts) And lets say they charge on the high side $120hr. so there is $600 in labor plus the $1500 for the tank... so what is the other $1200 for? No invoice was sent before the charge was made. And when I called to have the invoice sent all I received was the total billed. No breakdown of the bill. And I called to dispute the bill they said there was nothing they could do. I was told ""it's The cost of business in Chicago"" I think they new I was between a rock and a hard place by needing a water heater. I feel taken advantage of for sure. Don't be afraid to shop around.
Jodi M.So my 17 yr old furnace started doing bad things... I have a gold star program with Deljo and they came to the rescue. From the diagnostic, to the sales/comfort rep to the installation.., very smooth and easy process was very competitive pricing. Job well done!! Thank you Greg and others at Deljo!!!!
Do not use Deljo Heating & Cooling! I used them to install two new furnaces, a/c units, dehumidifiers and a new hot water heater. The crew who did the installation did not want to wear masks and I had to remind them multiple times to put their masks on. Then four days after spending $20k on brand new systems I had to call them out to repair one of the furnaces because of poor installation (bad wiring connection) it would not heat my home! Go anywhere else!
