Company Overview

Delaware Plumbing Professionals (DPP) is a family-owned plumbing and drain cleaning service. Jack Delara, the owner, is a licensed master plumber across Delaware, Pennsylvania, and Maryland. Bringing more than 20 years of expertise in home plumbing, I started my plumbing career in 1994 working as a drain cleaner for a major national company. In 1998, I joined a small, locally operated plumbing company. I continued my journey there for 16 years, advancing from drain cleaner to plumber. I was later elevated to manage all plumbing functions in Delaware, Maryland, and Pennsylvania.

While I was there, I saw the company evolve from a small, family-like business into the largest residential plumbing, drain cleaning, and HVAC firm in the vicinity. Even though I enjoyed my role in larger organizations, I always sensed that as a company expands, it often loses that personal connection with clients and staff. In 2013, I made the decision to start my own business, with the goal of bringing back that personal connection to a trade I love. This aspiration was the foundation for Delaware Plumbing Professionals.

I tried to get them to come and provide service on a water conditioning system since the manufacturer listed them as a good dealer. The woman explained that the don't do maintenance on anything they don't install and that the only thing they would do is install an entire new system, noting that maintenance wasn't worth doing anyway. Very rude and unfair, but I guess they don't need more customers and service isn't their thing. Our system was new in 2019 and the installer is no longer available, so we need a new dealer. Would not recommend this company ever.

we had Anthony come out to photo our line and sure enough he knew what was going on and found the issue - I was left with no questions to ask as he explained everything

My sewage pump in the lower level failed. What a terrible job for anyone yet Bill Hall was up to the challenge! I could not have asked for a more professional, more pleasant, and informative Technician. I called on Sunday afternoon not expecting to get more than an answering service and was pleasantly surprised to get a real person and was scheduled for Monday morning. Bill was on time and completed the job as expected and estimated. Getting this job done in a timely manner was invaluable. Highly recommend!

I have used Delaware Plumbing Professionals more than once. The first time, although not inexpensive, the job was done well. The second time, I called them to diagnose a problem with my sump pump. The pump was only one year old and was malfunctioning. I was told that, since they didn't install the pump, the only option they could offer was to install a brand-new pump, which would cost around $2,000. I said, ""Thank you,"" paid $65 for the visit, and that was it. The pump was later fixed with a simple tweak.

Today, I called them for the third time to look at a leaking shower and a leaking garbage disposal. I was informed that to change the leaking gasket at the top of the disposal, they would charge me the price of a full disposal replacement, which is over $450, for less than one hour worth of work (I asked). As for the leaking shower, even though I clearly identified the leaking plunger (a $20 part), I was told they couldn't address it and could only offer a replacement of the entire shower valve inside the wall, which I assume would be a job costing a few thousand dollars. Wasted another $65 for their useless visit.

Called with a Saturday plumbing emergency. Anthony Fucci was prompt and professional. Moreover, his knowledge and ability to put me at ease while dealing with the issue was the difference maker. Needless to say, he fixed the problem and allowed my family and I to get back to our weekend. Well done!

We had a faucet failure in the evening and weren't able to get the water to turn off without shutting off the water to the house. Delaware Plumbing Professionals was the only plumber available to come out at night. Pricing was upfront, project concerns were discussed, and in addition to a new functional faucet, a whole new vanity was installed which improved the overall appearance of the bathroom.

Initial diagnosis fee quoted became much higher. More money to open the ceiling...almost $200! I had a leak in my shower which also caused ceiling damage. I asked for a 'replacement' and got something different on the floor of the shower. It is now much more difficult to removed the plate as it is on with screws when the original could just pop off so I could clean inside. ( owner told me I did not specify what plate to use...I did say replacement...guess that was not good enough ). The plumber also asked me to help him...REALLY? Maybe if they reduced the cost of the repair which was $810.35 I might have considered. He called the owner who sent someone out. Also, he took a look at more plumbing in the house since he was already here. One toilet had new mechanism inside however the 'flap' was older. I asked how much that would cost just to replace the flap and he quoted me $234.09. Seriously? Never using them again.

Tech was a nice guy, however, they charged a high fee to cut a hole in my ceiling and did not tell me the fee prior. If I would have known it was $289, I would have cut it to gain access my self. Also left some trash in my kitchen after replacing the sink.
