James Arland DeHart started a plumbing and sheet metal operation in the family garage in Empire, CA, back in 1946. For more than 71 years, DeHart Plumbing, Heating, and Air has flourished, built on a legacy of excellence, community pride, and a focus on customer satisfaction.
Today, DeHart Inc. remains a family-owned and operated business through four generations and counting! As the third-generation President and CEO of DeHart Plumbing, Heating, and Air Inc., I carry on the legacy started by my grandfather, James Arland DeHart, in 1946. In 1983, I started as a plumbing technician while also attending HVAC-R trade school at night.
Currently, we manage a fleet of 60+ service vehicles and provide jobs for over 80 families! I am incredibly proud of the hardworking individuals at DeHart Plumbing, Heating, and Air Inc.

Annual hvac service went smoothly. Great technician. Couldn't be happier with their service.

We have newer home with bath fans tapping on windy days, probably need new dampers; Dehart came out charged 89 for diagnostic, then wanted 2100 for 3 bathroom draft stoppers/dampers installs, with new fan installs, that's 700 per fan install when parts are probably under 100, my guess the jobs would take less than 3 hours each, that's 200 per hour labor. That does not seem competitive nor necessarily needed, causing me even more work to find a reasonably priced electician to do the job. Very disappointed.

Our landlord made a service appointment for our Cooling system without us knowing here in Tracy, CA. Glad he did though! We had an amazing experience with Dean! Being extremely polite, knowledgeable, and caring are just a few adjectives I can bring about! Unlike other service companies that have done our yearly maintenance and try to upsell us unnecessary things, Dean recommended only swapping out our filter which we haven't done in about a year. Being absolutely right, I called my landlord and told him to please call DeHart Plumbing Heating & Air for our scheduled maintenance from here on out! Hey boss, please give Dean a shoutout for the A+ service, very well deserved. I will also recommend this company to my family and friends!

I'm beyond grateful for the work done and help given. We had a leak under the sink, which was discovered and fixed, a faucet replaced and the attention to detail and care with which it was done (wearing masks, carefully social distancing) was exceptional. Thank you Rich Davis and Spenser Wery for your quality work and thoughtfulness. But that's not all. I asked, while they were there, if they would look at a couple of other issues. They were happy to oblige. The outdoor faucet pipe (coming from inside the wall) that entirely rotated (360 degrees) when we attempted to turn on the faucet was of concern. We were advised that we'd have to open the wall to see what kind of connection was done inside that allowed it to turn. Rich suggested we do it from inside as sheet rock is easier to ""fix"" than stucco outside. We agreed and scheduled another appointment. In addition, a botched bathroom remodel left us without installation of the handicapped shower hardware. He was asked if he could take care of that for us too. ""Of course!"" But it, too, would require opening up the wall as it turned out that there was not enough wood to securely attach grab bars and hardware. He knew a person who could finish stucco so you'd never know there'd been a hole. Long story short, the outside pipe fitting was changed and secured and so the outside faucet could be used and you would never know there had been a hole in the wall. Next the shower was scheduled. He was willing and able to add wooden supports himself to securely attach the hardware and grab bars. It works beautifully. Now, that bathroom wall too looks like it was never disturbed. Not only that, he knew a man who could fix anything related to tile, who could regrout the shower cracks that had begun to appear and add and replace cracked or damaged tile, and he was also amazing. Rich Davis is our hero. He was caring, competent and went above and beyond so that my severely handicapped daughter can finally begin to learn how to use the handicapped shower hose, and as I get older it will help me, too. After Covid, we may have more work to do, but we are so grateful that de Hart Plumbing has such exceptional people and contacts. From the bottom of our hearts, we thank you! Oh, and my dishwasher was not level, so Rich tightened that up, too while he was at it. Above and beyond. Thanks Rich. We'll never forget. All this with masks and distancing!!!!

I'm sure this company deserves more than one star in general, but unfortunately they deserved it for my particular service. Be sure you speak to them about cost and what exactly they're providing. My wedding ring went down the toilet. They pulled the toilet, ran a snake through the line inside and called it a day. We paid $450 for this. We then called the City of Modesto, who responded in under an hour ran a camera from the home out to the street, and was shocked at the fact that we paid $450 for the service we received from DeHart.

We had checked out six other vendors before deciding to go with Dehart to replace our Water Heater Tank with a tankless water heater. All the other vendors only wanted to do part of the job while Dehart was willing to handle the entire job from end to end which included changes to the water and gas pipes, removing the old tank and sealing off the connections, installing the tankless heater in a new location outdoors, adding the external electrical outlet, and most importantly GETTING THE PERMIT and INSPECTION from the city. It was very important to us that the entire job be done correctly and to code and it was. We have now been enjoying our new tankless system for about 2 months and it is exponentially better than the old tank system. Once the water gets hot, it stays hot for as long as you want! We can take a shower, fill the hot tub, and flush the toilet all at the same time without any change in water temperature! The only reason that I gave 4 stars instead of 5 is that I just found out through my credit report that their finance company put a lien on our HOUSE! They didn't mention that ahead of time. I might have gone ahead with their financing anyway if I had known, or I may have decided to finance the project a different way. Still, even with that and the fact that Dehart's cost was almost double that of the other estimates that we received, we feel that it was well worth it to not have to deal with the headaches of trying to coordinate multiple vendors, worry about mistakes in planning or design, and deal with City permit issues. We also got the very top of the line tankless water heater, a Rinnai! Bottom line: We would definitely recommend DeHart!!!

Ended up signing up with their program because I was having some insulation blown into the attic anyhow. Very impressed with the gentleman that came out to the house very professional. When the technician came out to do the service on the air conditioning unit, was also very professional. So as he's doing the service he finds that my air conditioning has been incorrectly wired. Now my air conditioner works better than it did.
What impressed me the most about this company and the technician. Is the fact that I've had my air conditioner serviced in the past by two different companies, and nobody ever took the time to overlook the wiring. This guy caught an issue overlooked by others. For this reason, 5 stars for customer service and professionalism! This is my new go to company. Highly recommended

I called last night because my ac was low on Freon and the air wasn't as cold as usual. I was explained the after hours call would be $248 and I agreed. The technician diagnosed a small leak but agreed to recharge the system with Freon. He was at my home for literally 30-45 minutes. The charge was $2148. When I wrote the check I asked for a receipt and was told they computer the guy was using was having trouble. But they would email me a copy of the work order or receipt later. Today I still don't have the receipt. I called and asked the technician why it was so high and he said the Freon cost me $160.00 per lb!!! And he also said I would receive a receipt today . Still no receipt but my checking account is down $2148.00 JUST to recharge the system??!! Very excessive as far as I am concerned. I am a General Contractor and now wish I never would have called them. Be wary of companies that come out for an hours work and charge the customer 2 grand!! NOT HAPPY AT ALL! No receipt for the work a day later. Just tried to sell me a $14,000 system

I am giving them 5 stars and I didn't even hire them. They have the best customer service. My 81 year old mom's AC went out, they came the same day I called. EVERYTHING about this place was professional, compassionate and kind. I hear the technician, Mike, was EXCELLENT. I don't live in the same city, but I was so happy my mom encountered this company. THANK YOU!
My mom didn't hire them because of the timing of the installation....a little bit the price....still I found this company GREAT!!
