In Empire, CA, circa 1946, James Arland DeHart began a plumbing and sheet metal business in his family garage. For over 71 years, DeHart Plumbing, Heating, and Air has thrived on a foundation of industry excellence, community pride, and a commitment to putting customers first.
Today, DeHart Inc. remains a family-owned and operated business through four generations and counting! As the third-generation President and CEO of DeHart Plumbing, Heating, and Air Inc., I carry on the legacy started by my grandfather, James Arland DeHart, in 1946. My career began in 1983 as a plumbing technician, balancing my work with evening classes at HVAC-R trade school.
Today, we operate a fleet of over 60 service vehicles and employ more than 80 families! I am incredibly proud of the hardworking individuals at DeHart Plumbing, Heating, and Air Inc.

Dehart air conditioning are crooks. They tried take advantage of my elderly mother in law. She had them come out and they changed the fan motor in the AC unit. Within a year the wiring to the fan motor disconnected and poked a hole in the AC coil, which released all the Freon. They came out and told her she needs a new unit for $16,200.00. I had my licensed AC service tech come out and fix the problem for $625.00. I contacted Dehart to rectify the situation only to have Mike Meinert give me the run around. Very unprofessional, I will be filling a complaint with the CSLB. Definitely recommend avoiding this company

Called DeHart when my AC stopped working. They sent a technician out, he told me my unit was old and that it would cost over $2500 to repair. That my Fan motor was frozen. Quoted me $14000 to Install a new unit. Had another technician reinspect it. It was a run motor capacitor. $10 part. Installed a new one and it worked perfectly. Also double charged me. Had to call to get a refund.
Wes P.We have had a maintenance contract with DeHart for years. Our aging system was on the verge of giving out so we decided to have DeHart install a new system and also replace all of the ducts in the attic. Deon thoroughly explained all of our options. We decided to upgrade to a more powerful and more energy efficient system than we previously had. Once we signed the contract, we were told that the work could be done the following day! This was a big job! How could they possibly complete it in one day? There were a lot of obstacles that would make removing the old compressor out and the new one in very problematic. The next morning the DeHart team arrived and quickly started to work. I don't know how many workers there were, but each one knew what they were doing and got right to work. How they removed the old compressor and got the new one in place was with a huge crane!
I thought it would take a long time to remove all the ductwork and install the new ducts, but somehow every aspect of this major job was completed the same day. Unbelievable! I highly recommend DeHart for your HVAC needs. We are also going to have DeHart install a water softener.
I have been a customer of DeHart Plumbing and Heating for the 15 Years that I have lived in the central valley. I joined the HVAC and Plumbing club they offer in order to receive priority treatment for their services. The HVAC part of the business has been very good. I even bought a new unit from them and have been very pleased.
The plumbing side leaves a lot to be desired. My thermocouple on my water heater went out on a Friday night. I called the next day and was told that I couldn't get anyone out till Monday. I boiled water for baths and cleaning for an entire weekend till my appt on Monday. Come Monday I was told that my appt was canceled and they would be out on Tuesday.
I called the office very upset with this notification and was told that the person that answers the phone doesn't have the authority to make appts and that there would be no one available till Tuesday. I have a friend that owns Stanislaus Plumbing and have never used his services because I have always used DeHart, however I was so upset and hadn't had Hot Water for three days and now looking at 4 days. He had someone come out within 2 hours and had my water heater fixed within 30 mins.
I called back to DeHart to let them know how disappointed I was and was told by the Office Manager that she has no control over when people come to work. I could have someone come out between 5 and 9pm but it would cost me $200 OT fee and $49 svc fee.... I told her I wasn't feeling the love from being in the Love club. I asked to talk to her boss and she told me that he was at a board meeting and wouldn't be back till Wed..... I told her I wanted some notification that he had heard my complaint. So far I haven't heard from any one from DeHart Plumbing. I feel no love from their love club and couldn't be more disappointed in putting my loyalty in a company that didn't return it.
I needed help because my AC was not cutting it for my house and DeHart came out to see how they can make things better in my situation. They not only provided me with a solution to my problem but they helped me with other solutions to help my life to live a lot more comfortably. When they told me all the benefits of getting a tankless and a whole house fan it was at first a little curious. We also put in a soft water system but the best part was they were showing me value every step of the way. We are now over a month after having everything installed and wow! Went on a nice vacation and really missed the comfort of my own home. Thank you so much, DeHart!!
Called for blown-in insulation quote for my house. They state they don't service my city which is Hughson Ca however they will service areas 45 minutes away from me like Tracy and Stockton but not my city which is only 6 miles from their office? Really makes no sense.

I needed a blocked drained cleared and contacted DeHart Plumbing. The nice lady on the phone was attentive and quick to help me set up an account. Unfortunately when I gave her the zip code to the city I reside in (French Camp Ca) she advised that they did not service my area. I did see their list of areas which stated Stockton and Surrounding areas. The lady told me over the phone that they serviced Stockton, Lathrop, Manteca, Tracy and Modesto. I asked her that if French Camp was between those areas why they couldn't service my residence. She said she was sorry but the zip code wasn't in her list therefore she couldn't schedule me for an appointment. This surely did not make me feel as if I was ""DeHart"" of their business.
