Had all the water shut off valves replaced in my house- well paid to. They skipped the one behind the fridge and then had to call them back because they screwed up hooking up the hot and cold water for the washer. No one apologized- just said I didn't have to pay the service charge because it was their error. Didn't make me feel comfortable calling them again

Housing inspector said we needed to replace about 6 feet of venting pipe for a dryer. Needed to use a licensed plumber. Deans came out and quoted $950 !!! The job would involve 2 guys for a couple of hours....there would be supplies needed, like tape.... The guy could hardly keep a straight face talking to my son about the job - apparently smirking the whole time. I would tell anyone who needs a licensed company to call ANYBODY else!!!!

Do not hire. Hired Dean's to help me while remodeling my home. Plumbing and electrical. The staff was friendly and they appeared reliable. On the second job I hired them for, I purchased their ""club"" membership program. Which allows for free in-home consultations and inspections. They called me to schedule an inspection on my plumbing. They called the evening of and canceled. They wanted to reschedule for June. I said ""sure"". They never replied...
I hired them again to fix a leaking drain on my sink. They called an hour before the scheduled visit to cancel. The staff was rude and condescending over the phone. I had used vacation from work to be present for the repair. When complained about my inconvenience, the girl on the phone became snarky. I'm a busy person (like most adults) and it is important to not be jerked around. Time is money...Once they get your money, they don't seem to care about you. I wouldn't trust the company. The guys I met were nice, but they are a mess. Over priced, unprofessional, unorganized-and unreliable. $3000 for 15 feet of gas line and 3 outlets installed. You'd think they would care about their customers. ?

This company installed a furnace four years ago. Over the past two years, there have been times when the furnace would not start due to a problem detected by a low pressure sensor. I was unimpressed with Dean's during the installation so had this inspected by a different service provider. Turns out they installed intake/exhaust PVC that was inadequate in diameter for the size of the furnace. Avoid Dean's. Over priced, difficult to work with and from what I learned this week, incompetent.

Had Deans out for water problem was told that water softener exploded. Was billed $6,400 dollars to fix the problem. After spending a full day dealing with ""Brandon"" and his assistant was told that everything was fixed. Guess what????? It was not. The toilet they ""rebuilt"" in the main bath was running constantly and flushing continually, the master bedroom shower had no water pressure at all, and the new faucet in the main bath basically dribbled water. When I called and told them it was unexceptable, we were scheduled after the weekend even though they did the job on Wednesday--we had to wait until the following Monday for them to come back. When he showed up he said he the toilet needed a new rubber flapper inside the tank, he said he would have to charge me $266 for this piece. I went to Home Depot and paid $4.98 for the rubber flapper and reached in and installed it in less than 2 minutes. Seriously, I expect to pay for service but I would have thought that rebuilding a toilet would have included the rubber stopper the first time. I'm sorry but seriously, isn't $266 a highly inflated price??????? DON'T CALL THESE PEOPLE AND DONT USE THESE PEOPLE. THEY ARE JUST RIP OFF ARTISTS!!!!!!

$6,300 for a residential water heater? I don't think so! Avoid this rip-off company.

The tankless water heater Dean's insisted we needed (""because it was going to be challenging to vent a standard one the way our old water heater was vented"") was going to cost us $5,994. The highest price we could find online for the same model is $1,600 from plumbing supply stores. When we realized the big price discrepancy, we asked for a breakdown of Dean's $5,994 price for the water heater. They said they can't provide that information. After 5 minutes of research, we suspected we were getting totally ripped off.

We cancelled our install appointment immediately and contacted a couple other local licensed home services companies for estimates. Both came out and spent time looking at our basement and venting. Both said Dean's was ripping us off, and we don't even need a tankless water heater as there is no issue with the venting. We got a power vent water heater installed for $2,500 ($4,000 LESS than what Dean's was going to charge us! Even if we had needed a tankless, why were they charging several thousand $ more than it costs?)

Sadly, we still paid Dean's $1,000 for the four hours they spent seeing if a new thermal couple would fix old water heater and eventually giving us their ripoff estimate. We still came out ahead by almost $3,000 by going with someone else.

In addition to price, the other part of the experience that was noticeably different with Dean's was how slick and salesy it felt compared to the other home services companies.

In my opinion you should stay far away from these guys. They were pushy and aggressive with my daughter, and having now researched & talked with others who have had similar experiences, this behavior seems to fit especially if you are a woman, elderly, or disabled. My daughter bought a 50 dollar diagnostic visit from them for her 13 year old furnace, which was making an intermittent noise. The Deans rep came and looked at it, then told her three major things were out on it and it needed to be repaired or replaced. He quoted $4400 to repair or $7795 for a new furnace. This, for a tiny 900 sf house. I've just gone through a furnace replacement myself for a larger home, and this quote sounded far off the mark. So I called a friend who has worked decades in HVAC, for an opinion. He said he couldn't even imagine a repair on a residential furnace costing that much. He said, ""send me the report, let me look at it."" But when my daughter questioned the pricing and asked the rep for the report, he aggressively accused her of trying to go around him to other firms (as if this isn't her prerogative). She felt threatened and called me in tears, scared, as the DEANS rep still remained parked out in front of her house. She was crying when I arrived 45 minutes later, my HVAC friend now in tow, rep now gone. It happens also that a very senior technician working for Centerpoint Energy was on site for a gas leak. He said he'd overheard a little, asked who the company was. He shook his head when told it was Deans. He shared a similar negative personal story about the owner of Deans trying to railroad his low-income, disabled neighbor into an expensive and unnecessary deal. Dean's owner cursed him at the time, in front of the neighbor, for getting involved.

My HVAC expert friend and this Centerpoint guy looked at the furnace, FOUND NOTHING WRONG, and agreed that any of the three components failing would be a rare event under any circumstances, would also have caused a failure of the furnace, and therefore all three components failing at the same time would be next to impossible. BTW, after I left, Dean's lady CS Manager called my daughter, did not believe my daughter's story, further intimidating her. Long story short, it appears to me that this company has a long trail of tears behind its covered wagon, likely involving predatory behavior where elderly, physically challenged or women customers were involved. We are considering going to the A.G. and BBB with this.

Service providers were good. on time, health conscious.

Received a promo offer - sign up to receive information on us on Instagram. Show the offer to your service provider to get $50 off.
Spoke with Ari, CS Manager. She advised that since I failed to show it to the service guy- I couldn't get. I pressed her.

She advised that the issue was too petty to take to the manager/leader of the org. Not sure if Ari understands how tight people's budgets are.

Spent 1/2 pay check with them.

Her sarcasm was undeniable.

Had Dean's out for routine furnace inspection. Charge was over $400, which should have been a clue that I was in for a ""ride"".
The furnace is 15 years old and the tech explained that it is nearing the end of it's life expectancy. He pulled out a couple of parts (flame sensor and circuit board) and said they should probably be replaced soon. He also said the blower motor should be replaced. The estimate was $2207! He said furnace replacement would run about $4300. Replacement seemed to make sense, based on the parts costs, so I scheduled an appointment for the following day for a replacement cost estimate.
My brother has been in management at several major HVAC corporations for 35 years. I sent him a copy of the estimates. He told me I was being cheated! The flame sensor is a $10 part, yet charge was $335. Circuit board runs about $100, yet charge to replace was $844! Blower motor runs $100, yet replacement charge was $1028! The first 2 items were VERY easily removed. I suspect the blower motor would take a bit more effort.
The next day a guy came over from Dean's to give an estimate on furnace replacement. He suggested doing both furnace and A/C at the same time. The estimate was over $10,000! When I balked, the estimate gradually went down until finally levelling off at $7300 if I had the work done 2 days later!
I wrote an email to Dean's stating that I thought the estimates were outrageous and that I felt I was being taken advantage of because of my age and gender (I am a 74 yr old widow). The manager told me this is not true, that the prices are standard for this area and then abruptly ended the conversation!
