If this is the DEANE's Plumbing that advertises in Campus Commons then BEWARE!

Several years ago we had him in for an issue with our upstairs shower.

He looks at it and starts insisting he'll have to have another guy in to cut the sheet rock behind the shower wall to access the pipes. ""Not to worry"" he says, he can have the guy in later that day. Cut sheet rock? Seems odd, so I get rid of the crook.

The next plumper I call takes the face plate off, fixes the problem, changes me accordingly and leaves.

I'm reminded of this potential ripoff every time I see Deane's ad in the Campus Commons newsletter.

DO NOT USE THESE GUYS! My elderly parents had a small leak under their kitchen sink and found Deane's Plumbing advertised in their homeowner's newsletter as ""Old Fashioned friendly service"". The plumber gave no quote or contract, proceeded to tear out and rebuild their entire kitchen sink plumbing over the next four days, then handed them a bill for $1300. I got involved afterwards when my parents mentioned they still had a leak, and got this firm to come back to fix it for free (they were very obnoxious about having to return). I finally had to call out a different firm when my parents had yet another leak and they noticed their dishwasher had no incoming water anymore. This new firm quickly and affordably fixed this leak and the dishwasher issue, plus corrected some of the prior work done by Deane's Plumbing that was not code compliant (disposal draining directly down into the dishwasher rather than through the existing air gap or even a high loop). What a nightmare!

Larry showed up on time, did not take advantage of my plumbing situation, did the work well and even got a tile guy to show up on Sunday to retile my shower! He made friends with the dog and altogether was professional, knowledgeable and a nice guy.
